  1. If this signing is for a guy the Bills FO feels can be a cheaper replacement/special teams piece for Taiwan Jones, Tyler Matakevich and Jaquan Johnson… I’m fine with it. Maybe they even see some untapped “Poyer potential” in him, when he came here as a backup player and turned into an All-Pro, at the very least, maybe they see Safety depth. Not sure we can rule out the Bills not being infatuated with bringing back guys like Kumerow, Matakevich, Johnson, Lewis, Jones … which is where the angst likely comes from. If he’s their first move in resetting depth/teams, because we’ll be seeing a lot of turnover on defense this year.. then let’s go. I’m open to it. As of now I see two main ST’s guys on the roster, under contract…. S Zayne Anderson and CB Siran Neal.
  2. Chiefs DL looks a lot like ours did post-Von injury, if Chris Jones goes down. Frank Clark is decent, and the rest of their guys are ok… sounds a lot like Rousseau, Jones and co., without Von Miller. They hit on Gay and Bolton at LB, and seem to have hit on resetting their Secondary after letting Matthieu and Ward walk. The big difference between the Chiefs and Bills is on Offense. They don’t have the dollars we do tied up on defense, which allows them to spend heavy on OL.. and then the big draft difference - they took a stud C, where we took a rotational DE4 in RD2. They have a RD1 bust at RB, but hit on Pacheco in RD7 and a low-tier RB in McKinnon. Kelce is the straw that stirs the drink. Best non-QB offensive player in the league. At WR, I don’t know that Skyy Moore is that much higher potential than Khalil Shakir, but they took a chance on a guy we seemingly never would… Kadarius Toney, who is a game changer talent and still has two more years on a rookie deal. They’ve drafted a bit better, stayed healthier, took some chances that we wouldn’t… but mainly… the big difference …. Chris Jones stayed healthy and they let defensive guys walk so that they can give Mahomes a top 2 OL.
  3. ISIS not going to miss the chance to get their hands on some of those sweet American war gift bags. Of course, no western media will ask why ISIS patches, like the Nazi patches we’ve seen, are popping up amongst Ukrainian fighters.
  4. Rousseau is more a product of where he was drafted. It’s rare for a late RD1 pass rusher to be elite in his first few years. He actually had 1 more sack than Jaelen Phillips this past year, in 4 less games. Oweh with 5 less sacks in 4 more games. Elam’s handling was an absolute joke. He is our most talented CB, yet they played games with him all year. Beane, outside Oliver, has been good in RD1. Day 2 has been a disaster. Day 3, again, he’s good, but it’s relative .. good on Day 3 is why we have decent depth. Striking out on Day 2 is why we lack game changers compared to CIN and KC. Even worse is that the Day 2 misses are in the trenches. Something they constantly preach.
  5. *No team can come across seeming to want him
  6. We see what Veach has done for you and want that for us. He let Matthieu and Ward walk last year. For us that’s Poyer and Edmunds. If that happens, our off-season gets quite interesting. If we bring Edmunds back, maybe we can sign a decent Guard… and then it’s off to the draft, unless we can unload Oliver for a Day 3 pick.
  7. Jets with Rodgers have a small Super Bowl window.. but it’s there. Jets with Derek Carr and all their picks, playoff team.
  8. If we’re trading a secondary player, it’s Tre White. Makes zero sense to trade Hyde, Elam, Benford or a signed RFA Dane Jackson. Just doubt we’d get anything of substance for Tre White that makes it worth it for the FO to move him, instead of seeing if he follows the historical timeline for a good corner with an acl and returns to pro-bowl Tre this year.
  9. Participating Member of the ALL OFFENSE group here… If we let Edmunds and Poyer walk, then re-allocate Edmunds money towards OL, by all means .. draft a LB in the 3rd Round. Just make sure you don’t accidentally submit your Day 3 pick at LB in on your RD3 draft card like last year.
  10. Give the Chiefs our path and they are not Super Bowl Champions. Dolphins, Bengals, Bills without Chris Jones. They bow out in the Divisional Round against CIN just like us. They stayed healthy at the main roster spots and lucked into the 1 seed. Now, we have work to do.. KC likely doesn’t get rocked by the Bengals, but it does take some luck. On the other hand, some teams make their own luck… KC has routinely been the 1 seed and/or made it to the AFC Championship/Super Bowl. Can only make excuses for so long.
  11. Has the Defense shown up in the post-season against elite Offenses? Answer: Emphatically NO. For as statistically dominant the Defense has been in regular season, how many 1 seeds have we gotten? Answer: Zero. It’s time to move on from Poyer and Edmunds. Core defenders on a Defense that couldn’t get it done. And as we saw last year, is now starting to eat into what we can protect, and provide, Allen with.
  12. Are we extending Gabe Davis? If not, I’m certainly open to sending Gabe to Tampa for Mike Evans. Still need to draft a WR early. Then we can platoon Beasley and Shakir in the slot.
  13. Yup .. I always thought it was managerial malpractice to pay Edmunds, but just assumed they do whatever it takes to do so. Even if he gets a modest contract at 14-16M per and we use that money on the top available starting Guard and an adequate MLB or a decent vet starting Safety, that’s such a far better allocation of resources. The offense needs a good Guard and the defense should only need a decent MLB and decent Safety, given all the talent we have coming back on the D.
  14. Part of me wants McDermott and Beane to be forced to play Bernard at starting MLB. …just so they have to own the idiocy of that pick. Then I remember I’d likely be cutting off my nose to spite my face.
  15. Beane has been a disaster in terms of drafting for the lines. That’s where teams are built. It’s extremely problematic that our best OL is Morse, a FA signing, best DE is Von, a FA signing and best DT is Jones, a FA signing. That’s not way to build a Super Bowl winning team. It needs to change this off-season. He needs to nail this draft and we need to to see a philosophical change in terms of dollar investment. The fact that it “sounds” like Poyer is gone and Edmunds is trending that way, leads me to believe they may be starting to get it. Im not there yet, and they could certainly turn around and infuriate me, but this Edmunds quote has me a tiny bit more energized. Now just give me a cryptic Oliver tweet and we’ll be cooking with gas.
  16. Remember when the Chiefs let guys like Ward, Matthieu, Ingram and Reed go, while trading Tyreek Hill and then won a Super Bowl the following year? Sometimes you let good/great players walk and the re-allocation of assets allows you to build a team more suited to winning a Super Bowl. Maybe that’s us this year letting Poyer and Edmunds walk, along with, perhaps, trading away a guy for picks and/or to free up cap.
  17. Our best chance at securing extra picks (aside from trade backs) is putting Oliver and Basham on the block for Day 3 picks. Davis could probably bring back a Day 2 pick, and if we don’t plan on extending him, I’d think long and hard about moving him if we make a move like signing OBJ.
  18. As someone who agrees with you quite a bit at times and wants to take a blowtorch to the defense, I will say this… We got extremely unlucky that Von Miller tore his ACL. At the end of the day, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. If I transpose what happened to us, onto the Chiefs, they do not…. Chiefs have to play Dolphins in the WC, Bengals in the Divisional and Bills in the Championship (without Chris Jones). They, 100%, are not the Super Bowl Champions. Maybe they don’t get clapped by the Bengals like we did, but their season also ends in the Divisional Round.
  19. They are going to get someone. At the end of the day, if we give Allen an OL and weapons, Carr can not keep up with him. I don’t care how good that defense is.
  20. Will GLADLY trade that for an Offense that doesn’t require Josh Allen to be elite week in/week out to function. If McDermott needs Edmunds on a Defense that will have Von, Jones, Rousseau, Milano, Johnson, Elam, White and Hyde, then fire him now.
  21. Niners offense is LOADED. They also play in the NFC. Eagles found out what an elite defense looks like when playing one of the elite AFC QB’s.
  22. For Knox, yes. I’m not nearly as forgiving for guys like AJ, Boogie and Oliver.
  23. The DL/OL picks from Beane have been BRUTAL. Rousseau has some juice, although I agree, he’s likely never going to be elite. Above average DE is a fine return for where he was picked. However.. AJ, Boogie, Oliver, Ford, Teller (trade) + guys they didn’t draft to take some of these JAG’s. Just awful. If we don’t figure out Day 2… it’s going to be an uphill battle every year.
  24. Clearly this tells the whole story.
  25. Rousseau and Knox are not average. Both are good, with a lot of potential.
