What is better, no guns, or more guns?
SCBills replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Did you see how many, otherwise sensible, countries around the world were run during covid? Curfews, mandates, police used as storm troopers. Theres a reason that didn’t happen here (to that extreme level), even if some progressive states tried their hardest. Id rather everyone have guns than cede all control to the government. Covid exposed the true nature of a lot of people, and a lot of leaders, and I’m for anything that checks that impulse. -
I think a healthy Oliver on the right DL could be a legit playmaker. He’s good, not great. I’d honestly give him away for a 7th, so I really don’t care what he brings back. I just want his cap hit out of here. Davis, I’m with you. Tougher call, but I do think he could bring back a decent pick .. see what Chase Claypool brought back.. If he’s not in future plans, or is a “wait and see”, just pull the plug and get a pick back. Neither of these two are difference makers for us.

I don’t own a gun. Have never had an urge to own a gun. The obvious answer to this question, for anyone who isnt a communist, is more guns >>>> no guns. -
Kendrick Lamar talks about smashing a white girl for ancestral revenge in his most recent album. Eminem’s lyrics … ha, ok… Ye says stupid stuff .. but it’s the wrong stupid stuff. Yeezus Ye would’ve been able to perform, but not “this” Ye.. alright, sorry .. I don’t accept that premise. I get why corporate NFL can’t bring him on .. but it’s performative bs.

Bills need to hit on picks to have a chance
SCBills replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
He did seem that way. And what’s so frustrating is that he has levers to pull. He doesn’t need to re-up anyone. Even our podcasters simp for Edmunds lately. Give it a rest… Edmunds is NOT the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs. He has trade-able assets.. Oliver has value, maybe not a ton of value, but someone will give him some kind of pick to take on that cap hit for what he provides. Davis has value. Maybe legit pick value. Is he going to be re-signed next year? Do they even know. Is it a play it by ear situation?.. Move him for a pick. Allen doesn’t trust him beyond a sideline throw or deep shot. Tre White has value. Now I think the pick he could bring back probably isn’t worth it given what White could return to, now, a year removed from recovery.. but the convo should happen. Beane has levers to pull. He’s not stuck, yet he sounded stuck … if so, it’s in a prison of his own making. -
I have no faith he will do this, but if Beane is seriously paying attention to how teams are winning Super Bowls, he’d let Edmunds, Poyer and Singletary walk… then yes, he’d absolutely trade Oliver and Davis. Neither is a difference maker and both are in contract years. Letting Edmunds walk and trading Oliver gives the Bills around 24M to play with that they otherwise had allocated to defense. I’ll be conservative and say Oliver brings back a 4th and Davis a 3rd. We now have ammo to move around the board or extra mid-round picks to replenish the defense with younger, cost controlled players at S, LB and DT. Im ok keeping Davis if they feel he will be content with signing a WR3 contract, but if not.. get a pick back while he has value.

“What would Veach do?” Should be Beane’s motto this off-season. Would Veach re-sign Edmunds to a massive contract? Would Veach try to trade Ed Oliver? Gabe Davis? Tre White? Im not saying he’d trade all 3, but he traded Tyreek Hill… he let Charvarious Ward walk. He won a Super Bowl the following year. -
The halftime show was wildly meh.. and I don’t mind Rihanna’s music at all. I can’t remember a single moment of the show. Might as well just played one of those random Amazon Music concerts they keep trying to hype people on after Thursday Night Football. Should’ve brought Ye out during “All of the Lights”… everyone I know thought that was about to happen … and then, meh, next song, more forgettable bubble dancers.

Eagles invested in their Defense as much as anyone this year. It didn't matter in the Super Bowl. Lucky for them, they don't have KC, BUF, CIN or even LAC in their way to get there, or they likely would've been exposed earlier. This is an Offense-driven league and the Playoffs are a different animal.. Give a good DC an average Defense and an elite player on the DL and you're golden to invest heavy around your elite QB. Giving Edmunds a huge contract after watching that game would an absolute joke. It's bad enough that Oliver is on this team next year at an 11M cap hit.

If you could do only one thing to improve the team for next season

Explain to all of us like we're five how Mahomes being on this team gets Knox constantly wide open and allows the offense to routinely create 3 yard throws that turn into 6 points. -

When healthy, we're better than them at every level on Defense (assuming Tre/Hyde/Von come back strong and we re-up Edmunds). Lucky for them... that doesn't matter much in the postseason. They realize that all it takes is an average defense and one elite game-wrecker. On offense, they have a better OL, better weapons and about 100 levels better coaching. Again, lucky for them, that does matter in the postseason. -
If we re-sign Edmunds and don't try to move Oliver, while signing some low/mid tier vets in Free Agency... I'm really going to lose faith. If the Eagles (healthy) Defense wasn't able to slow down a high powered Offense in the post-season (where the style of play is different), then it's just not going to happen anymore. KC is so far ahead of us on the curve.. They invest heavy on Offense, with an Offensive genius HC, while giving Spags a mediocre Defense centered around an elite player in Chris Jones at DT. Would they re-sign Edmunds at the expense of protecting Mahomes? Not explore trading a non-difference maker in his contract year so they can use his money for another Mahomes weapon? Well, they hit on their Day 2 picks, so perhaps they never get in that situation, but they likely wouldn't. They understand the modern NFL. They don't have an outdated philosophy holding them back from allowing Mahomes to consistently have the best of everything they can provide.

Not exactly one thing, but.... Let Edmunds walk. Let Poyer walk. Trade Oliver. Take every single dollar we free up by letting Poyer/Edmunds walk and trading away Oliver's cap hit, and put it into the Offense in Free Agency. Two above average OL and a WR2 potential player like Meyers, Chark etc.. First Round, BPA on Offense (OL or WR) Then draft cost-controlled replacements for Edmunds and Poyer on Day 2/Day 3. -
Last night Super Bowl should solidify for anyone, our FO included, that Offense wins Championships. You couldn’t have told me who had an average defense and who had an elite defense last night. They both looked the same. Eagles invested more than us even, in that Defense .. and it didn’t matter when they played an elite offense. You need an average defense with some playmakers.. which we have with Von, Milano and hopefully Tre/Hyde. Yet we’ll justify re-signing Edmunds and keeping Oliver around … 24M in cap allocated to excess Defensive talent that doesn’t protect or help our QB.

They let them play all game. for 58 minutes, you truly got the sense that this epic game would be decided by one team winning the game. Making the play that defines their season. Drama, suspense and an exciting finish that this epic game deserved. Then, for reasons unknown, the refs .. who let them play all game, call a ticky-tack penalty that ends it. Just a travesty.. and it 100% took away from an epic game. It’s literally all anyone is talking about today .. instead the amazing play by both teams.

We have a Super Bowl trophy (or two) if Andy Reid was our head coach
SCBills replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
They trade for Toney on a rookie contract for multiple years. We trade for Hines on a bloated RB contract. They worked Toney into a legit contributor role by the playoffs .. and that’s with Toney missing time. We relegated Hines to KR/PR and a package of 4 plays that never worked. Pretty much sums up how Reid and Veach build their team compared to Beane and McDermott. They also moved a superstar for assets to accelerate their roster reload. Imagine my surprise when we re-sign Edmunds to a massive contract and then let Oliver walk for nothing next year. -
Kanye coming out during “All of the Lights” would’ve broken the Internet, but I’m sure the NFL would have none of that.
-
Please have meaning 🙏🏼

We always wonder if that’s the call that changes something moving forward .. I’m guessing it never matters and there will never be that moment … but I have never seen so many people so disgusted with the NFL than I do right now. It’s everyone .. fans, players, analysts, personalities.
-
Pretty influential football guys not holding back on that call … Twitter is on fire right now.
-
Wow… this is when they decide to call something?? What a way to end a great game. F off refs
-
KC gives Spags Chris Jones and then about 2/3rds of the investment we have in our defense. If we let Edmunds, Poyer walk and trade Oliver to invest in the offense around Allen like they have Mahomes .. sure, I’m willing to give Frazier a longer leash in the playoffs.
-
Nah, we don’t need Toney … thanks McDermott, Beane, Schoen, Dabs .. good stuff.
-
No clue why we didn’t go after Toney. I think we all assumed Daboll/Schoen gave us background McBeane wouldn’t like, but it just screams the difference between KC and us with them trading for Toney (on a rookie contract) and us for Hines (at a contract we likely have to redo)
-
Hes been really good. Has gotten some help on plays and is also the biggest reason KC is still only 6 down though.
