NFL Trade Deadline Oct 31 - Rumored List of Players Available
SCBills replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Aside from having Kelce (the best weapon in the NFL) and an elite IOL, they’ve provided Mahomes with: -WR3 FA in MVS -Trade for a recent RD1 WR -RD2 WR -RD2 WR -Brought back Hardman We can clown, I guess, but that WR room isn’t for lack of trying. -
I don’t disagree. Im just willing to see how this season plays out. Ive always thought that if we’re depriving Allen of an offensive minded HC, the HC better have a huge effect on the defense, especially when it matters. With Frazier out of the picture, the buck stops with McD now. And furthermore, we can lament the injuries, but those injuries didn’t make this defense bereft of talent. They simply took us from a Top 2 defense to more middle of the pack. More NE games and I’m out. More TB games, flukeyness aside, and I’m open to withholding criticism until we see what he does when it matters.. against the elite offenses in the Playoffs.

NFL Trade Deadline Oct 31 - Rumored List of Players Available

Going to be interesting to see what if, anything, “one game” before the trade deadline influenced… Offense looked much better in 11 personnel. Diggs/Gabe/Shakir looked like a legit 3-wide. Is that the springboard for consistency of was it just one game? Do we believe Harty/Sherfield is adequate depth should we revert to more 11? Poona Ford had his best game as a Bill. Looked like he finally had his sea legs under him. Only one game though.. and prior to that, he was a liability in replacing Jones at 1T. Jackson/Benford look like a slightly above average outside CB duo in our system. If Elam is traded or so far gone that Norman is active over him.. we have no depth. We don’t seem to have a 3 down LB outside of Bernard. They don’t trust Williams yet. Dodson is a liability against the pass. We’ve gone to Dime in passing downs. Is that sustainable? Do we need a true 3 down LB? -
Understood, but I actually thought McDermott was good against TB. Bigger test next Sunday, but my main issue with him was that in order for us to be able to win a Super Bowl, he needs to take charge on defense and be able to do more with less. So when our defense was trash against New England, I was pretty much done with him if it continued. Only one game, but he made adjustments and the defense dominated an ok offense with the best receiving weapons we’ve seen all season outside Miami. He did so, in part, by making an interesting adjustment with three Safeties knocking Poyer down to LB on passing downs. We’ll see if it continues, but that’s what I need to see out of him if I am to believe we can ever win a Super Bowl with him. The Offense was better. A lot of encouraging things were shown. They still need to be much better. Outside of the punts, which I agreed with at the time, he allowed them to be very aggressive in offensive playcalling. They didn’t get it done in ANY of their possessions after going up 24-10. And it was only 24-10 because of a quick change interception deep in our territory by the offense. I think the defensive injuries will tell us a lot about whether we can ever get over the hump with him. Lots of coaches could win with the defense we had fully healthy. That was an elite, top 2 defensive roster. Now it’s more middle of the pack. Now it’s time to see if McDermott can be the difference maker. If he can, I think we can win with him as a defensive HC. If not, what’s the point of depriving JA a consistent offensive mind? This year should be very telling…

I’m not the biggest McDermott fan, but it’s wild how if Jordan Phillips doesn’t grab Baker’s face mask for absolutely no reason, nobody is having this conversation following the game. Im not saying it’s valid or not valid.. and the conservative decisions ultimately led to a point where if a mistake was made on a defensive series, you opened yourself up to this by constantly asking them to stand up .. but I struggle to go after McDermott for Thursdays game. For all the credit we give the offense for looking better, maybe they shouldn’t have put McDermott in three straight no-man’s land 4th down decisions.

Ifedi signed here knowing this is his role. Anderson is happy to have a 53 man roster spot because he’s getting paid and being developed for down the line. If we cut Hamlin, does he get signed for someone else’s 53? Maybe, maybe not. I’m sure he’s happy to be here right now. None of them should be active over anyone currently Gameday active.

He doesn’t even have any character red flags out of college. By all accounts he’s a great person who works really hard. I completely agree though, that something happened/is happening behind the scenes, because weird Jags/London game aside, his play isn’t indicative of a guy who gets publicly embarrassed by being benched for Josh Norman.

Beane reportedly looking for LB help (possible rumor)
SCBills replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
IF he were available.. I don’t know that it would be completely out of the question for this front office to put a trade offer out there. It would likely be the admission that Tre White’s career in Buffalo is over. Instead of drafting a RD1 CB in the next two years (we saw how that turned out with Elam) I don’t know that it would be crazy to send this years and next years RD1 picks to them for them Surtain. Maybe Elam is included. Not sure I’d love that, as it seems McDermott can find/scheme/coach up guys like Jackson and Benford, but I could see them viewing Surtain as a piece worth trading multiple 1sts for, given where we should be drafting. Future young core of the Defense becomes Oliver, Rousseau, Bernard, Benford and Surtain. Offense returns a lot next year with the only conversations really to be had about C and WR2. Defense will likely have a good bit of retooling. -
There’s no way the Bills are rolling with Jackson, Benford and 35 year old Josh Norman past the deadline. I refuse to believe that. Reading the tea leaves, we likely have a move in place for a CB coming in, with Elam going out either to recoup a pick and/or as part of the deal. Poona Ford gave reason to believe he can hold down 1T at a respectable level after finally getting his sea legs under him in this defense. The emergence of Kincaid, along with Gabe Davis looking like a true WR2 and Khalil Shakir looking like he can truly become an effective Slot may diminish the feeling we need another receiving weapon. Not saying I’m 100% confident in Gabe and Shakir… but they showed it’s in them… and a lot of it is probably usage via Dorsey and Allen trusting them. Reason for optimism there. Linebacker could definitely be upgraded if they feel Williams won’t be ready this year, but Poyer coming down to play Dime LB looked pretty effective. I won’t rule anything out, but we saw potential answers last night to the Daquan & Milano injuries. I refuse to believe Norman is an answer though … I believe it was a one week bandaid to get to the trade deadline.

I have NEVER seen such a bad bounce game in my life. I still can’t get over the trifecta of Allen deflection, pick - Benford deflection, TD - Phillips deflection, 2 pt conversion. Add in a muffed recovery, ball bouncing directly back to Baker on a high snap, Phillips facemask… felt like we were cursed last night.
-
It’s all about later this season. It’s frustrating, but we all know why we signed him. It wasn’t for the regular season. I’ll hold out hope he can become 80% of pre-injury Von later this year.
-
He’s not mediocre. That being said.. Given we have Kincaid, his 14M salary for a starting caliber backup TE makes no sense on this team next year. We’ll see how the season plays out, and there’s a role for 12, short yardage, goal line etc this year … but next year, it’s going to really enticing to get a pick back AND move 14M off the cap. I’m not saying someone is sending us a high pick, but he will have value. We will easily be able to move him if we choose to.

I’m not a huge McDermott guy, but his defense gave up two TD’s. One on a quick change short field. One that was, perhaps, the flukiest drive I’ve EVER seen. Poyer coming down at LB in passing downs looks like a really interesting development moving forward. Im pretty confident McDermott doesn’t punt over and over against an offense that poses a bigger threat. He called a beautiful overload blitz to end the game and preserve a comfortable 14 point win. Phillips grabbed Baker’s face mask for no reason and then the ball bounced off Benford for a TD and Phillips for a 2 point conversion. Players were put in position to end the game, and didn’t. So we had to sweat it out.

Weird defensive game. Bucs don’t have a great offense, but neither do the Pats, and we’re coming off a game where they controlled the LOS and Mac Jones did whatever he wanted with incessant short throws. Against Tampa, the Defense gave up two TD drives. One on a quick change, short field. One at the end, which was one of the FLUKIEST drives you’ll ever see. I agree that Poyer as LB was interesting, and based off initial returns, he looked back to being pro-bowl caliber Po last night. Lots of second guessing, but the reality is we should’ve won comfortably if players execute. The overload blitz on 4th down is something a lot of us have been hoping to see from this team after year of Frazier bend/don’t break. It worked. Phillips just can’t grab the face mask there. He did … then the ball decided to bounce off Benford for a TD, and off Phillips for a 2 point conversion. ….and here we all are, attacking McDermott. Anyone who follows my posting knows I’m very much undecided on whether we can win big with him … but I can’t kill him for last night. I’m pretty confident he doesnt punt over and over like he did if we’re playing an offense that poses a bigger threat.

I have two separate internet providers. When I’m in SC, it’s been awful. So I came home to Atlanta to watch tonight, and it’s not as bad, but still awful. Maybe I just have two bad internet connections 🤷🏼♂️ Everything else I stream comes across just fine.

It’s awful. Borderline unwatchable on my tv when I’m in South Carolina for work. Literally drove down to Atlanta today to watch it back home .. not as bad, but still awful. Any long pass is like trying to watch the game on mushrooms.

Unless he's going to be packaged in a trade.
