You're saying that like we have any say in the matter 😅 I agree & would prefer Hyde enjoy retirement, but I'm not sure McDermott would feel the same way if he thinks the S position is still a weakness

Can we go after Clowney in Carolina now? We need pass rush help, right? He'd be someone who could help without breaking the bank. I heard Nick Wright suggest the Ravens do that (while also saying the Chiefs should look at Lattimore in NO as a CB replacement), but I think the Bills could also use the help. When the Chiefs get healthy, they'll have Kelce, Worthy, Hopkins, Hollywood Brown (in time for playoffs) & Juju. Definitely some older guys, but also a group that can be very dangerous paired with Reid & Mahomes. The Bills could use any help they can get, both offensively & defensively. I don't trust McDermott & the D in the playoffs, so even more offensive weapons would be helpful.

I'm just mad right now... In the last thread about trading for Hopkins, people were arguing that a few million dollars was "too much" for Hopkins. I brought up that it's worth it if you really think you have a chance at winning the SB, with the upside of preventing the Chiefs from getting him. "But his numbers were down this year!" - Who cares? So was Amari Cooper's. Having Levis & Rudolph throwing to him as having Mahomes throwing to him in an Andy Reid offense. Oh, and they only traded a 5th. It's not the end of the world, but the Chiefs are 6-0 for a reason, and this will only help more. I hate the Titans right now 😡

It's great that we're firmly atop the division, but hopefully we start seeing wins against actual GOOD teams. We've coasted on a weak schedule, which is part of the reason why there's not a lot of "Josh Allen for MVP" chatter. If they can start beating playoff caliber teams, the narrative will change. Right now it looks like Lamar is the favorite, followed by Goff & Mayfield of all people.

2018 QB draft and passer rating rankings this season
BigDingus replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd say 2018 is still way behind '04. 2 of the 3 from '04 won multiple Super Bowls. The 2018 class needs a champion before it can get in that conversation, and hopefully it's our guy! -
Well if you're in need of another one...

Let's trade the 2nd round pick we got from the Texans (technically the Vikings pick) & send it to Dallas for Brandon Aubrey 😆 I heard someone suggest that & thought it was crazy, but you know, it wouldn't hurt to have possibly the best kicker in the league who's clutch from 50+ yards & has even hit a 60 yarder in game.

I love Dion's Jets hate. It makes those games more entertaining, and it's fun to have a LT who's becoming a household name.

Von Miller outlook implications from the Cooper trade
BigDingus replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the defense, Sean McDermott's coaching issues, and lack of explosiveness on offense makes us more of paper tigers come playoff time. We could hang with teams like the Chiefs, but more physical teams like the Ravens would run right over us out with or without Cooper & healthy defensive players. -
This has been my one issue with plays from under center. It's so much better than Dorsey's "do everything out of shotgun," and definitely helps the run game. Unfortunately, it's become a dead giveaway we're running the ball. And when we do pass, it's not successful, but it feels like there's definitely potential there.
-
At this point, I'd be happier to go back to the turnovers & 40+ TDs a year than 0 INTs and a very average offense. Glad we got the win, and no criticism towards Allen here, I'm just not convinced this conservative play style (and weak WR corps) is a recipe for success.
-
It's not just them. It's Brady, it's Allen, it's the run D (though they did fine against the Texans), it's McDermott... I just don't trust any of them right now. I think Josh's confidence is in the pits. Brady has nothing if the Bills can't establish the run & they have nobody to pass to. Coleman isn't a WR1, regardless of if he's a rookie or not (either that or he should be a slot guy), Shakir is hurt & not a WR1 either, and everyone else isn't even worth mentioning at this point. Kincaid is a non-factor in games, and Allen's accuracy & pocket awareness has plummeted along with his confidence. This would be a much needed win, but going into this 3 game road stretch this was the one game I cared about least. Beating the Texans and/or Ravens was far more important, but we failed those tests. Now we're just picking up the pieces & trying to salvage what's left.

Why isn't Brady using more Play action?
BigDingus replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Probably because our run game isn't good enough & teams are fine dropping back to stop the pass & let their front line handle the rest. At that point, play action just becomes passing with an additional step & doesn't benefit anyone if you're not making anyone bite. -
I feel like that applies more to Allen. People love to criticize McDermott, but if you dare say anything critical about Allen, you're the problem.

10/6/2024 - Bills at Texans post game thread.
BigDingus replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
But this reminds me of the old days- the play calling looks bad because the coaching had to revise their plan after such poor execution. When your QB can't hit anyone on target & is absolutely floundering out there, you reign it in & change the way you're calling the game. They'd run on 1st & 2nd down because they stopped believing they could throw the ball. That's what happens when you have 9 whole completions all game. There will be multiple receivers who have more receptions this week. Then when they wanted to pick up that 1st down, Allen proved again he couldn't find the target. People look at things in a vacuum in hindsight. "They should've ran 3 times to kill Houston's timeouts!" Ok, but then the Texans don't call plays the same way they did anyway, and could've still got in FG range. We've seen the Bills go super conservative & play not to lose, then get screwed over anyway. Then everyone is crying about the lack of aggressive play calling & blaming McDermott for the loss anyway. -

BigDingus replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
But Beane isn't calling the plays, so even if was dealt a bad hand, he's not the one making the game time decisions. The Commanders & Sam Howell got more out of Curtis Samuel than the Bills & Allen have. Top teams with top QBs find a way to make things work, at least to a degree. The Bills have not been able to do that. The players we've drafted on offense have been average as best. So we're losing in FA, we're losing in the draft, and we're losing on the field. There's a reason that despite their records, people still kept believing the Bengals & Ravens were GOOD teams. The Bills don't look like them at all, as our only star player is supposedly Allen, and he's looked just as bad in our losses as everyone else. -
I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better
BigDingus replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
You're not allowed to blame Josh. You have to go down a checklist of everything else before even mentioning his awful play. I'm glad I had to go into work, as what I watched left me SHOCKED with how bad he was playing. He still looks like he's playing nervous in big emotional games (no, I don't care what he's done in WC playoff games, so don't bother). Even though we KNOW his accuracy was garbage this game, we have to focus in on a handful of plays where receivers weren't open, getting enough separation and what Brady could've done instead. But Allen is supposed to be a top 1 or 2 QB, right? He's better than Lamar & Burrow! Apparently Mahomes "passed the torch" to Allen as the number QB in the league. Yet he couldn't hit a single pass when it mattered, had 21 incompletions, bailed on good pockets, made poor decisions, and we're supposed to not call it out because we attached our team's identity to him. -

BigDingus replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Apparently you're not allowed to criticize Josh, as long as we can point to other people's mistakes, just ignore 9/30 for 130 yards. That's rookie Josh kind of numbers. That's horrible accuracy & decision making. But because Brady didn't run 3 times at the end, doesn't matter that Josh has looked bad the last 2 weeks. But that's just how fandoms work. 2 weeks ago we had threads fearing Brady would get a HC job & leave us. Now it's all his fault we've looked like crap for 2 games. But we "quietly improved" at WR, so it can't be that either. It's just coaching. Not poor execution, not our favorite players and not injuries, it's gotta be the OC. -

BigDingus replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Had to go to work, but just saw the box score... How was Allen 9/30 for 131 yards? That's abysmal, like completely horrendous. Crazy that there was even a chance to go to OT at that point, which of course poor coaching ruined anyway. -

Yeah, they know exactly what we want to do on offense. Also, I've been saying this for a while now, our running game hasn't improved as much as people think it has. -

I dunno... seems like their defense is pretty locked in to everything Josh wants to do. -
Week 5 - Bills at Texans Game Week Thread
BigDingus replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
But the Jags are bad & don't have the talent that Houston has. We were also healthier/had more key players available against Jacksonville. Lastly, Diggs is more motivated to make Buffalo & Josh look bad. -
Week 5 - Bills at Texans Game Week Thread
BigDingus replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed, and I'm also a bit worried that Diggs has far more info to give on the Bills & their tendencies than the usual former players would. He knows Josh well, he knows some of Brady's playbook (and who knows how many concepts were carried over from Dorsey or if terminology stayed the same), he knows McDermott, he's practiced against most of this defense quite a bit, etc. so he'll definitely be sharing as much intel as possible in preparation for this game. Not sure how much it will matter, but you know damn well he wants to prove a point against his former team. How'd that close spread turn out last week though?
