Tremaine Edmunds vs. Roquan Smith: Direct Comparison
Mat68 replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They don't make them like Edmund's. 6-5 250 Mikes that run like dear are unicorns. He could become a generational player. You go with the freaky athlete and teach him how to be great. -
All NFL Contracts Should Be Performance Based ...
Mat68 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They pretty much are. The rare occurrence of mid 20 something former first or second rd pick or top 20 QB on the open market, they set the market for their position. Mario was never the best DE in football. Even with the Texans. Early on they could see Jj Watt was a better player. Now for what Buffalo was getting they got top 10 De numbers. Expecting more than that, you were setting unrealistic expectations. I would argue Fitz was given an appropriate contract. If he was retained he takes one of those Marrone or Rex teams to the playoffs. Besides being a first rounder or earning a second contract the other contracts are performance based. Not sure what the OP is referring to? -
I think Buffalo adds another WR before camp. With that said I think Allen starts week 1 or takes over by week 3. I think Buffalo could really do a what Pittsburgh did with big Ben as a rookie. Defense, running game, Allen make 2 plays a game.

"Josh Allen is blowing people away" - Chris Simms
Mat68 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he was throwing picks and looking bad it would be all over the place. If Allen had a day similar to Mahomes, the media that thought Allen was a reach would crucify him. Lets just face facts. We are all homers here. We are talking Buffalo Bills football to strangers on the internet 730 in the am 100 days before the season. -
"Josh Allen is blowing people away" - Chris Simms
Mat68 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sims was in NE when Dabol. I enjoy the Simms and Lefkoe podcast. Simms pulls some very good info from time to time. Simms liked Allen alot. He thought he was the most pro ready and would start way sooner then the media was projecting. The part that makes me believe its more than just a big arm in shorts thing, was him saying its very similar to Wentz in Philly. Its everything hes doing, not just on the field. Coaches, players everyone is buzzing. -
Josh Allen already impressing in Buffalo
Mat68 replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The open practices are going to be the most clear. I would say easily half of the media members that follow the Bills were against his selection. They want to prove their own intellegence. So far no peep. Even some forced praise. Allens strengths are apparent and easy to see. His accuracy knock are not as severe as they were protrayed to be. I think Allen starts week 1. And preseason game 1 he is announced as the starter. -
Removing an executive is not an inexpesive endevor. The Pegulas found reseason to fire Brandon with cause. Not sure but assume that will cost them nothing vs forcing early retirement or buying his contract out. The transition may have accured a year or 2 early but not unexpected. Bringing in someone on the outside to hold the position for a year makes no sense, nor does promoting someone just to remove in the near future.

Eagles Release LB Mychal Kendricks - Signing with CLE
Mat68 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not alot of quality on the market in late May. Barring trades or June 1st cuts what you see at Wr and Oline is probably what you get. Kendricks would be an immediate upgrade at OLB. Alexander, and Humber are old. Edmunds, Malano, and Vellajo are young. -
How much longer will we have shady?
Mat68 replied to Cusefan66214's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Big fan of shady. I honestly think this it, unless he restuctors at the end of the season for less. 4 mil cap savings. Draft a runningback next year or see if Bell makes it out of Pittsburgh. -
This to me is terrible logic. Obviously, Watson was the better Qb and no reason why he should have took all those snaps from Watson in Tc and Preseason. It took Watson about 3 weeks before he was rolling. If he had those reps early he would have gotten to playing at a higher level sooner. After the first preseason game Watson was the better player.
-
Imo the people that are high on Allen think that the can play early. Just like anything Buffalo once 1 or 2 people create a narrative the other player pundits run with what they believe is the prevailing opinion on a subject they dont know well. The moment Allen gives the Buffalo gives just as good a chance to win as any other Qb on the roster he needs to start. Yes, he will make some mistakes but he will also learn and improve. The sooner Allen wins the job, better for the Buffalo Bills.
-
The accurate comparison is Ken Dorsey. Both played at huge programs at a time you could argue each programs peaks. At the end of the day look at the investment. Aj MCcarron is guaranteed nothing more than so-so back up Qb money. Buffalo trade two seconds to move up 5 picks in the draft for Allen. Everyone agrees the future is Allen right? Now in terms of the competition. In my opinion Mccarron is going to have to play near perfect to hold off Allen. Allen can make the chunk plays and wow plays that Mccarron can not. If its close you go with the rookie and get him as much experience as possible so he can learn and grow so the future can come sooner. There is a reason Vegas believes Allen will play the most games. There is a reason Allen has the third highest probability to win ROY. Thinking Allen is going to play is not an indictment of Mccaron, its human nature and sports in general to go with the young more talented guy over the veteran.

Who cares about Rosen? Hes smart, Allen had a higher wonderlic? So what measure of intellegence are we using to rank the Qbs by? Or are we going off the guy's word who tells everyone how smart he is? Now I have zero issue with Rosen as a prospect or individual. I thought he could be a good fit, but there were multiple Qb starved NFL frachises that did not believe he was the best QB prospect. Rumor has it Buffalo outbid Arizona for Allen.

Cutler is at the end of his career. It would be terrible they have to pull a Marrone and bring in Orton b/c Manuel is no good.

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition
Mat68 replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could be wrong but they are setting this up for Allen to just take the whole thing over and sooner rather than later. He seems to be a hard worker. IF he works as hard or harder than Mccarron and Petterman I think once they start OTA's and everyone on the teams sees the difference it will be only a matter of time. What the team will see? Quicker release, better at throwing the ball outside the numbers, when he has to throw 30 yard lasers, escape-ability, and an overall physical presence neither Peterman or McCarron carry. Irionic, Simms is out infront of this. He believes Allen was the most pro ready than any of the Qbs coming out. -
Hue Jackson has to win 6-7 plus games and show a large amount of improvement to stay the head coach. Taylor with a good run game and defense is the best way for Cleveland to do that. Mayfield will have to completely beat out Taylor. The biggest learning curve will be snaps under center and play action passes where he will be asked to turn his back to the defense. After watching Kizer and the offense turn the ball over multiple times in the redzone, it will have to take a crazy preseason to pass Taylor.

Former Bills OC has Final Exam grades for top 6 QBs
Mat68 replied to racketmaster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I ment in terms of his ranking. I have seen multiple places rank Allen 1 or 2 in this draft in terms of Qbs. -

Jordan Mills second team All-Pro?
Mat68 replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Besides the Chargers game he is not as terrible overall as people claim him to be. I would argue he could start on over half the leagues lines. Glenn hardly played and Dawkins stepped in perfectly for him. Richie and wood hurts but both were nearing the end. Bodine, Groy, Miller should fill those two positions and Tellar is a darkhouse to take over mid season. Now its not the cowboys ala 2016 but its also better than Seattles.
