  1. I would 100% feel more confident with Allen at Qb week 1 than I would with Baker Mayfield week 1. Allen has made more pro level passes in his bowl game than Mayfield made his whole career. Looking at a guy coming out with similar arm talent and surrounding casts. Farve, Marino and Cutler all have similar completition %. Its hard to compare his stats nowadays with so many spread qbs and offenses. Those qbs are not as accurate as their % says. They pass in bigger windows and are asked to make easier throws that are far and few between in the NFL. I like the moxy on the field of Allen and his ability to make throws no one else can. If Im a great coach I can teach him the nuances. I can't teach the positives that Allen has. He can pin point a skinny post over a linebaker, before the saftey and inside the corner.
  2. its a passing league and we all know that there are huge plays left on the field this year. Last year When Taylor was making those plays its a little different. For whatever reason he was not able to make those plays.
  3. Lets see what Beane is made of. There are about 6 Qbs that have potential to go first rd. My order would be 1. Rosen 2. Darnold 3. Allen 4. jackson 5. Mayfield 6. Rudolph. Also, you have an intersting situation in Minnestoa. Bradford when healthy is very good. Keenum is playing out of his mind and everyone in Minnesota thought Bridgewater was the guy. Add in Cousins has put up consistent top 10 number the last 3 years and he will hit the open market. I will even add in what is going on with Luck? Cousins will cost the most money and Rosen, Darnold, and Allen will cost the most in terms of trade value. What way does Beane go. This year has some of the most Qb options than any year in recent memory. This is going to define the current regime they ge the right guy they get statues if they pick the wrong one they are gone. if they dont pick any they are gone sooner.
  4. Its tough when you work on plays designed specifically to beat certain coverages. The kid from Alabama did something to win the game that I have never seen Taylor do. Cover 2 defense all goes with the inside man to the wide side run a post. By the book the pass goes to the in the inside man running the post. A true freshman 18 year old Qb stares down the traditional place the ball should go. Knowing all well the saftey knows the same thing hes going to catch him cheating and make the pass that theoretically the coverage takes away. He did it to perfection put the ball on the money and won the game. Late in the game vs Quarters coverage. jaguars go to coverage. Quarters meaning the outside corners and saftey each have the deepest guy in their quarter of the field. Taylor's tendency is to throw the ball over the middle short all year. Thompson outside runs a deep post. As the Te breaks over the middle both safties stop or slow there depth expecting the pass short. If Taylor rips it to the post the Bills score a Td. NFL teams self scout and know their own tendencies I would almost guarantee that play was called multiple times and the post is there. Taylor never adjusts and the Bills lose the game.
  5. Seems like an irrelevant stat and does not correlate to offensive passing success. Bottom third are all good offenses in there.
  6. You are paying him all the money and he hasnt really won anything in the NFL. Matthew Stafford and Carr will be bench marks but I would argue both those guys have way more potential. Cousins to me is who he is. He is kind of an enigma. Why wouldn't Washington commit long term? It would have cost them mush less money against the cap? Keenum reminds me an awful lot like Fitzpatrick. Those are both legitmate FA that will be expensive. Imo I would put money into the defense front 7 and make a move to the top 3 for a Qb.
  7. No less than qbs under 6'1 or Qbs from the Big12.
  8. 1. FA is first so you start with Cousins. Do you think he can win a superbowl in a weakening conference. If yes pay the man. If no move on to Minnesota and pick up the guy who leaves Keenum or Bridgewater. Mccarron is availbe but Cincy was willing to trade him in division in state so im more buyer beware. After that you are in straight bridge category. Bradford, Mccown, Fitz. Besides Bradford I would just retain Taylor at this point. 2. The draft. Getting Cousins is the only way you dont have to pick a QB rd1. I think it would still be on the table if you do. I would say any Qb signed that is below Keenum I think a trade is a must. No Franchise caliber Qb will be there at 21. So find out what the asking prices are. I would give up a hefty take for Rosen or Darnold. 21, 22, 55, 2019 1st rd around that maybe a little more. If they are not availbe i move to Indy. I make a play for Luck 21 and next years 3rd. 2nd if he plays over 10 games. 1st if he starts a playoff game. If no than move up for Allen less than I offered for 1 or 2 but substantial. If im unable to get Allen i stay put and go with Jackson or Rudolph. I like the top 3 qbs much more than the others. I think there is a fairly wide margin from them to Mayfield. While investigating a trade up I would also gauge the availability of Luck. If I think he is remotely available I make that move quick and first. Assess the risk and take a gamble. Gotta believe with modern medecine the odds of luck recovering are still greater than a qb drafted become great.
  9. He didnt get inflated spread numbers. No smoke screens for a third of his passes. Imo one of the biggest take aways with Allen is he has won more games at Wyoming than and Qb in a 2 year stretch since at minimum 1989. They were 2-10 before he arrived.
  10. Imo there are 2 types of Qbs. Ultra competative workaholics. Average athletic abilty but are obsessive about there preperations. Like Brady, and Brees. The other are the super athletic sevants. Just naturals. They see the feild perfect, during meetings are told you cant throw a pass here. And their answer is why? Well the window is too small. Game comes play is called and the qb makes the throw where they shouldnt and its a touchdown. Like Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Farve. Either style works but you need one of them. Its hard to find who is really the first group. Every prospect is coached up for the process now. Get a supremly talented guy and coach them up if they have the mental fortitude and confidence. As complicated and people want to make football its not that crazy. More often than not teams call the same plays each week and you can derive the coverage by the location of the saftey.
  11. Quite well actually. Showed cover 2 pre snap, post snap hyde stayed deep on the hash showing cover 2 still. Play side route combination pressumably would block poyer. Poyer played robber and jumped the route. Simple goutcha
  12. It was but arm talent was not a question. Rudulph arm is being questioned.
  13. Aaron Rodgers only red flag was playing for Tedford and Kyle Boller busted. He has similar size and arm talent. If Rudolph had that kind of arm with his size he would be the top qb.
  14. Makes sense. Hey we are going more athletic at LB. We like your leadership would you be open to putting on a few more pounds this offseason and play DE? That is a postion of weakness and wouldnt be surprised if hughea is a cap casualty. He is paid like a 10 sacks a year guy. Wjat did he get 5?
  15. Yes. I like football. I enjoy watching it at the highest level of execution. Both NFC games are incredibly well balanced matchups. The AFC games are essitally does Pitts and NE have enough left for another run or can one of the young hungry teams pull off an upset.
  16. Rumor is Kam may be forced to retire and wouldnt be surprised if Sherman is traded. They have alot personalites paid well and are getting older and less impactful.
  17. Taylor was benched because he was not very productive. My point is it is not like Peterman had to beat out Brees, Brady, or Rodgers here. The level of competency they where hoping to see out of Peterman was not a very high bar to clear. Peterman came up extremely short of that bar. Going forward he is not part of the quarterback decussion or future plans reguarding the starting spot. He had multiple oppurtunities to earn the job and he failed to do so in a way that his place on the roster will be questioned.
  18. He at no point showed that he is ready or capable of handling meaningful snaps in the NFL. I get it he is your guy, but he is making the same mistakes over, and over again. Franchise Qbs dont wet themselves repeatedly their rookie season than meracilusly become great. You got it or you dont. He doesnt got it. A completely average qb out played him by a wide margin.
  19. I agree with your assessment. Its unanimous that Buffalo needs improved Qb play. This year Buffalo has the cap flexability and draft capital to sign, trade or draft a franchise caliber QB. If Buffalo does not do 1 or 2 of the options I suggested to obtain a Franchise caliber or potential Qb I would call this offseason a complete failure.
  20. Get some speed at Wr and the group will be pretty good imo. Benjamin, jones and speed. Streeter, and Thompson if retained are fine 4 and 5.
  21. I like it. This is setting up like was Pete Carroll did in Seatle. I expect similar wholesale changes like there was last year. The young guys will be retained and the cheaper FA will be kept. The old nucleus will be changed as well. The only guys over 30 that they will want back are Wood Williams and Alexander.
  22. If Mccaron was the next guy Cincy isnt not selling him to Cleveland. Outside of Cousins, Keenum is the guy that is intriguing but is he more than Fitzpatrick? I dont think he is.
  23. I could see Hughes, Glenn, Taylor, Incognito, all gone next year. The biggest contracts on the books will all be gone. I expect gaines, Brown, and Thompson offered extensions with P brown ending up walking. Last year the team was strapped against the cap. The shedding of contracts will see the defensive front 7 seeing the most change and most money dumped into. I think they will make a competitive offer to Cousins as well.
  24. Seems like after listening to Mcdermott he is not against bringing in a new OC. i think he has a style he want to incorperate on offense by the problem offensively seemed to be play calling and that has never been Dennison's forte. Depending on who he could bring in Imo he would replace him. If a rookie Qb is most likley I think you make the change now if you have any worry about Dennison. You dont want to change Oc's on a rookie if you dont have to.
  25. Again as i stated idk why a team would trade out of taking a Qb when it appears they need one. That also has not stopped franchises in the past from doing so completely disregarding it is not accurate. Allen or Jackson I would still trade up for if Darnold or Rosen are not obtainable. Both are the most gifted prospect and neither will be there at 21. With the top guys gone the price wouldn't be as high but Indy and Cleveland imo would listen for offers. Outside of those four no other Qb in the draft has franchise caliber potential you essentially are hoping to hit the lottery that one of these other guys play much better than anyone projected them to.
