  1. My understanding is long term window not short-term. I don't think anyone is betting the next year or two against Brady/BB but that train is stopping really soon. SF has a potentially franchise changing QB and JAX just needs a competent one with that defense to both have a 7-9 year window at least.
  2. So I was alive but between the ages of 2-6 so I have no memory so I won't comment too much on players. But I have watched SB 25 and the biggest thing was the defenses inability to tackle. They missed god knows how many tackles or went for a big hit instead of just doing a basic tackle. That and the time mgmt at the end stuck out more to me then any player or kick for that matter. The only other SB I have watched and would comment on is SB28. The Bills seemed to play not to lose and more or less just lost it mentally the moment Thurman fumbled. For that I do blame Marv, Kelly, & Talley on defense. The game was tied 13-13 at that point, it wasn't like they were down yet they played and acted like it. Your head coach and two big team leaders need to step up and get the boys up regardless of previous history. You knew Dallas was going to run Emmitt in the second half hard so then run the ball and clock yourself to slow things down to regain some composure. It was like quicksand and once things started hitting the skids they couldn't get out of their own way and to Dallas credit they overpowered Buffalo once that happened.
  3. JAX is coming to BUF fyi
  4. Haha I get it. I am a refugee from BBMB so I am still learning my way around. I really don't try to attack people and I enjoy disagreement. I think you reach a better place as long as both sides are civil and sometimes I have found the others persons point by the end to be more correct then my own. In general most posters on here I think are pretty good unless we descend down the Patriots tunnel which some real hardcore bias show from certain people but that is what it is. I actually think we will see a run on QB's in the top 15. This class especially has a ton of potential and there are a lot of teams willing to gamble I think to see what a guy like Josh Allen could do after a year on the bench. Personally if the Bills could somehow get up to the Niners spot at 9 without sacrificing both 1st round picks I'd be pumped.
  5. So I look at this pretty regularly because I am insane. Anyway the NFL very very rarely has a team go back to back with opening home or away. The Bills opened last year home against the Jets so I would assume we will be away to start. Here is the 10 years: 2017 Home vs Jets 2016 @ Baltimore 2015 Home vs Colts 2014 @ Chicago 2013 Home vs NE 2012 @ New York Jets 2011 @ Kansas City 2010 Home vs Miami 2009 @ New England 2008 Home vs Seattle Only once have we been back to back and that was 6 years ago and they really try to balance that as much as possible. Also the Bills have requested for years to front load the schedule in the months of September and October due to the bad weather we get later on so even if we open away you can bet they will have bunch right after home. With the NFL's ratings issue the days of Buffalo opening with or at New England frankly are not high given their TV draw and they probably get a night game against an AFC opponent like KC HOU or IND. Continuing the Bills played the Jets to open last year and typically within the first two weeks we play a divisional opponent. I actually think we open on the road at Miami myself but I could also see us at someone like Houston or even Indianapolis. The schedule typically drops the 3rd week of April but leaks usually happen pretty regularly leading up to that starting in March.
  6. They didn't resign Antoine Winfield because they felt he wasn't worth the money which resulted in Nate Clements pick. Clements was decent enough but Winfield was a far better and had a much longer career. Price was also not resigned because of money although at least they got a pick for him at the time. I would never say Ralph milked it because he did want to win but I think between the CBA agreement which he was firmly against and Donahoe not working out he became very very stubborn until the end. I remember the one off season when they spent like 90 million on offensive line help, but he wouldn't sign Jason Peters. In 2010 he did want Bill Cowher but Cowher didnt want to coach and the Bills were in a real shoty place roster wise. I think he just really didn't like the structure of contracts until the rookie wage scale came in. The time between post Donahoe 2006 to 2012 really stick out as the dark ages of irrelevance especially with the ownership uncertainty. Once they signed Mario Williams I think it finally signaled a fundamental shift in the organization to at least acting a bit like a 21st century football team. They still have a ways to go now and I would never say Mario Williams signing was a true success, but that really to me sticks out now as the end of the really dark days.
  7. whoops changed it to Josh McCown my bad.
  8. Same here. I still think even without cap relief Thomas/O'Leary still give equal benefit and they can use the roster spot elsewhere
  9. I hope I am wrong because I really would like a new QB through the draft. But from what I have read and how the team has acted they don't strike me as the type of bunch that would trade to move up which I think they have to do for one of the QBs and I think they want a ferocious defense that can limit an opponent to under 20. They flat out said if the offense scores 24 pts they should win every week with their defense.
  10. Here are five bold predictions I have for the Bills offseason. Agree with them, rip them apart, or make your own! 1. The Bills do NOT draft a QB in the upcoming draft. The team instead strengthens the defensive front 7 drafting a DT and LB with their first two picks due to the fact the cost to move up for one of the top QBs is too steep. 2. Instead Josh McCown is signed and the QB competition is between him and Peterman. The Bills seem very invested in Peterman and sign JoshMcCown as a stable force for the QB spot so if Peterman can't cut it they have a capable starter. 3. Charles Clay is cut despite having his best season yet as a Bill. Nick O'Leary and Logan Thomas development allows the Bills to shed salary on Clay whose numbers never were enough to justify his contract. 4. WR Mike Wallace is signed to strengthen the WR corp and the Bills list Zay Jones fourth on the depth chart behind him and Deonte Thompson. Instead of the draft the Bills add a proven capable vet to take the 2nd WR spot who has speed. Despite the stories of Zay Jones rebounding, Deonte Thompson still out performs him early on in the spring practices to hold the 3rd WR spot. 5. The Bills are not only gifted a MNF game at home against the Jags but return to SNF for the first time in years to face the Indianapolis Colts who are coached by Frank Reich. The Bills finally make their return to SNF against Indy who hires former Buffalo Bill Frank Reich as coach to revive the Colts and Lucks career. (BUF wins on a last second 49 yard FG 22-20 that just stays inside the right upright )
  11. That's not the point and you can't judge everything in a prism. Bledsoe being let go was part of a system of moves by the Bills stemming back to where they let Peerless Price go where the Bills didn't want to pay to keep a lot of good players and were trying to get young. I will defend the younger part, but the Bills were notorious at the time for being cheap and not willing to bring in talent/keep it over a certain $ tag. Truthfully I have no clue with Bledsoe would've been that much of an increase but I do believe he would've been better the JP who like EJ I really wish they took more time to let set and learn. I am a believer with a guy like Bledsoe who was a leader despite declining skills you probably would've seen at least a better team W/L wise. QB's are the face of a team and with rookies it takes time for them to learn that stuff. The worst thing with Donahoe's failure is it scared Ralph for a few years from bringing in outside help at a time where they desperately need a fresh set of eyes. 05-09 IMO was the worst part of the drought with how irrelevant the team was and how badly they drafted.
  12. Agreed. And with Bledsoe and Fitz they moved on far too soon. Both times the team was better with those guys at QB and letting JP/EJ sit and get seasoned like that, but instead cut them for money reasons and to had the new car to a shiny new guy who had no experience.
  13. I've kinda always thought that also and the playoff drought would've been more like 11-12 years had Bledsoe stayed. When Bledsoe left the team the defense was playoff caliber and the offense with him could do enough to make some noise as a whole. Losman was just a year with the team and basically on sabbatical year one due to the broken leg. Even one more year of seasoning wouldn't have hurt Losman and for the veterans on the team keeping Drew would have given them one more chance to do something. From what I have read most of the veteran players were furious when Drew was released because they knew it would be a step back with a rookie QB and most likely a wasted a year. I want to say it was Matt Bowen who said something to the effect.
  14. No. I plan on attending the riot and sacrificing my car bills mafia and collecting the insurance on it!
  15. Not including Thursday night otherwise they beat JAX in 2001 on TNF which was their last victory at night until MIA in 2012
  16. Haha yea my wife and I watch all day to so I guess it isn't too big a difference. I actually really started liking the London games because it was literally football for 12 hours plus all day. I believe Titans in 2000 was really their last night victory.
  17. See I am the inverse I love 4pm games or primetime games because you get the entire day to work or do whatever and then you have the game. Plus more later games means more national exposure which I am always for.
  18. For those of you who read Peter King's MMQB on SI website you probably saw this in his favorite games looking ahead to 2018. For those of you who haven't read his MMQB I highly recommend it. Real strong insight and clues to future NFL moves both team, player, and league wise. Anyway: "• Jacksonville at Buffalo. Just wondering how Doug Marrone will be welcomed when he walks out of the tunnel for the first time since walking away from the Bills after the 2014 season. " This was listed in his top 11. First off its cool that the Bills were finally relevant enough to break into the top 11 games when most are teams like NE, PIT, PHI, & GB. Secondarily though many times the games he lists in pieces like this receive priority by the league networks for being at night or at minimum the 4:15 slot. I invest a lot of time into how the league does its scheduling and previously posted that every team that makes the playoffs hosts at least one MNF and generally gets 3 night games (TNF, MNF 2x or 1 SNF also.) Based off how things are trending I could really see the Bills hosting the Jags early in the season like week 2 as the home opener when both teams still are very early on and you can play off last seasons hype. Do you think the Bills host at night against the Jags or are they 4:15 on Sunday? Or no national attention at all for this game?
  19. haha oh yea just snap your fingers, sign a few guys, and have your backup QB play lights out. Now our backup is Nathan Peterm... sh*t he just threw another pick
  20. This makes zero sense they are rebuilding which is why they traded Darby/Watkins/Dareus. They just happened to finally get some competent coaching and luck that finally led to a playoff year. They could go 6-10 7-9 next year and it wouldn't be a failure to me in the least given the fact they are reseting the talent base right now.
  21. They play in the same division as NE. Until Brady and BB are gone we will always have crappy odds
  22. I have been waiting for the Sabres bubble to burst for years and I really hope this is the season it happens. Fans have invested too much and expected frankly success too fast IMO not that is their fault either from the product for far too long. On the other hand the team has done zilch for the fans in terms of experience, give aways, food, presentations, and the team itself is a tire fire. If it takes a year to ground zero expectations and the Sabres Org has to realize they need to do more then so be it things will long term be better.
  23. McDaniels with Luck should go well I'd think but dear god if I was a Lions fan I wouldn't want Patricia. The Patriots DVOA for defense was only 18th in the league and it clearing illustrated how the offense gave them a huge advantage with field position, situational football, etc.. I think he is Charlie Weis all over again.
  24. Haha by the way how are Lions feeling about that hire right about now lol
  25. If you cannot admit that Brady is the GOAT then just stop even talking because your jealous and your Bills bias is showing. If you honestly are judging QBs solely if SB record then Marino Fouts Kelly and a list of other greats apparently don't register above guys like Trent Dilfer and Nick Foles himself. Bob Griese won two SB titles so with your logic Marino was a worse QB. What Brady has done with the Patriots will most likely never be equaled again by any QB especially in the age of parity. You compare Montana who played where it was far easier to keep a elite team together with no salary cap together. Exactly which of the 41 pts last night was Bradys fault also. They put up over 500 yards of offense 33pts and lost. How exactly for any team or QB is that remotely the offenses fault.
