  1. Oh, for sure. I think about Marino when I say stuff like that. I hated playing against him at the time - but man, do I wish that guy (and Kelly) had rings. They both deserve it. I was glad Elway finally got his. Allen even moreso. He has brought so much to the game. I see even fans of divisional rivals say things like, I hate the Bills, but Allen is so fun to watch. He's one of the marquee players in the league & delivers some jaw-dropping play week in & week out. He has to get a title. It's a team game - but this team has to rally and figure it out.
  2. Man, we gotta win this year. If we didn't have Josh, I almost wouldn't care. But we're getting to a point where it's just wrong that this man - one of the ALL TIME GREATS - does not have a ring.
  3. Gotta say - the 4:00 slot is my favorite. Not as much pressure as a night game, but a little more prominent. And it's easier on my conscience to drink later afternoon over early afternoon.
  4. I doubt he would take that kind of thing. He would have been my 1st choice this offseason if McDermott had a bad season. But man, McD has really impressed me this year. I think he has improved in every facet - he's ready to slay the Chiefs demon and bring this city a title.
  5. All I know is that I haven't enjoyed a season this much since we went on that epic run after the "Hail Murray" that one season. What a blast. Feels like we're at worst one of the top 3 teams in the league, and we get to watch Josh Allen making another "what did he just do?!!!" play every single week.
  6. Maybe not the right thread for this, but the ending of "Frosty" always rubbed me the wrong way. The snowman that comes out of that puddle? It is NOT FROSTY. He doesn't remember anything. It's a brand new snowman. And we're supposed to feel good about that.
  7. I don't care about the stats. Josh Allen is the MVP of the league this year. If he finishes strong, he has to get it.
  8. I have a soft spot for the Lions & Vikes - if we made it and lost, it would ease the pain knowing that another fanbase that has truly suffered finally got one. But, I wouldn't be thinking that way if we lost. The floor would officially disappear for me, and I'd be in an endless freefall mentally. The universe wouldn't make sense, and I wouldn't be able to think about much as I discovered and navigated new levels of despair.
  9. Looking at some of the guys picked in the 1st & 2nd - I'm really glad we got Coleman (not factoring in "if we traded up)". Legette, Pearsall & Worthy have all been pretty underwhelming to me. Polk is genuinely bad. McConkey is great, but I really like what Coleman brings to the table for us.
  10. This! I would so love to see him be part of it when we get one.
  11. I was never that down on him - but he's been outstanding this season. He should be one of the finalists for coach of the year given that most expected this team to take a step back. I don't think he's a top 5 coach in the league, but he's one of the better ones. Coaching in the NFL in general is pretty bad.
  12. Al Sharia's was reckless & out of control. A bad hit. Gronk's was pre-meditated and retaliatory. Much dirtier by its very nature.
  13. What Gronk did was worse than Al Sharia's hit.
  14. Couple of things - Jeudy is hilarious. And this past year's QB class might be the best in many years.
  15. Sending a message w/ a hit is an every-game occurrence. Multiple times in most games. If players have a chance to tee up a hit, they usually take it - though most do it "cleanly." And fans generally love it when a player lays a really strong hit against an opponent. "As long as no one gets hurt." I just find a lot of hypocrisy on this issue.
  16. I disagreed w/ this - MAYBE it's true that he had intent to injure. I don't think it's obvious, or clear. These plays happen so fast - guys are flying around and many of them play at a very high speed. I just don't think the mind works that quickly for a thought like that, for intent on something like that.
  17. Piledriving someone is pre-meditated, with intent to hurt. The comparison ends there.
  18. I compare it to what someone like Gronk (now America's cute, lovable frat brother) did to Tre. That was as dirty as dirt gets - premeditated, retaliatory, intentional. This was a guy who made a very poor split-second decision - but it WAS split-second.
  19. I agree w/ this. I think we always underestimate how fast this game is. And until recently, big hits were prominently celebrated, most notably on the "jacked up!" segment prior to MNF. There is an appropriate reaction to what happened, but I think the overall reaction has veered into hypocrisy. It's a tough, fast game - I don't think he set out to hurt Lawrence. There are players who DO play the game dirty, but one bang-bang kind of play doesn't define a guy.
  20. First, I hated to see Lawrence hurt like that, as I'm sure everyone did, and hope for a full & fast recovery. When the hit 1st happened, my reaction was the same as everyone else. Dirty. Unnecessary. I was kind of angry. But then the entire NFL community goes into self-righteous mode about a play in a game that is inherently violent. We all watch replays countless times in slo-mo, and think that players who are playing the game at a high speed can adjust on a dime. And there is also the consideration that some QB's try to game the rules around sliding a bit, and trick defenses. That slide yesterday did appear to be one that was started late, after or simultaneous to the defender positioning for the hit. Obviously, the NFL has to protect QB's. The hit WAS unnecessary - but I think the reaction against the player has been over the top. If a player has a pattern of illegal hits & dirty play, that's a different story. I just hate how this stuff gets so black & white, and people turn into villains instantly.
  21. Feel bad for the Niners. I don't dislike them at all as an organization, and they have had a tough, tough time w/ injuries this year - and only added to that last night. We've been there, and it's just no fun.
  22. Man, couldn't the Raiders have just kicked the FG instead of running one more play?
  23. Only downside is the easy schedule. Not counting chickens (well, maybe a little), but some of the remaining games might be over by halftime, which will likely have a big impact on overall stats.
  24. I don't think this is a homer statement: Allen may be the best pure football player of all time.
  25. Greed is really a thing.
