Gotta be. Or a damn good idea on what it is. Man this is exciting!
-
Amen. Netting the 1st pick in the 3rd round is a far, far cry from what many were claiming we'd get for him. This was an absolute no-brainer in terms of pulling the trigger. But they have to know what they want to do at QB now and I sincerely sincerely sincerely hope it still involves drafting a 1st round QB even if they trade for a guy like Foles or bring in a FA like McCarron or Bridgewater. I think maybe BLM had a premonition the other day in us trading up with the Giants to #2 for Rosen. Replace Rosen with Mayfield and I'm much much more excited.
-
Huh? But he'll get it with the Browns now...
-
Okay... if that's what we do, I'm stoked. I just feel like if we trade for Foles we won't also draft a QB in the 1st.
-
Unless McDermott's ties with Gettleman are going to get him a better deal than he would've gotten with the Browns.
-
No worries. I also said that the most likely scenario for Taylor being gone was in a trade to try to trade up in the draft to get our guy. I still hope that's the case and it's not us going after Foles.
-
I think you'll be pissed if we do trade for Foles, then. If we trade for Foles, no way are we also going after Rosen/Mayfield/Darnold. I hope we don't trade for Foles. I don't understand why people would rather trade for him than go up and get Mayfield/Rosen/Darnold.

Done

Helluva lot better than the 5th rounder everyone thought he would get. Heck, this is almost a 2nd rounder! Trade up! Trade up! Trade up! Mayfield! Mayfield! Mayfield!

It's not about hating Tyrod the person... you're smarter than that. Some of you hate him as a QB, which is why I added the phrase "as a QB" after the word "hate." And what a strange double-standard... so we can crucify a player if we don't like what we see of him at the Combine because "it's against air" but can't praise them for the same reasons? Let's all just go by what scouts and teams are likely using the most of in their evaluations: game tape. And Jackson looks electrifying as both a passer and a runner. If it scares you because he's too similar to Tyrod... well... that just seems like a weak argument. And you're ridiculously generalizing the entire message board assuming that because less than 78% of the message board don't believe TT will be back this year that a similar number of people would be against Jackson. That's 2 preposterous things you've insinuated now: 1) If we draft Jackson our attendance and viewership is likely to go down and 2) Feelings about TT = Feelings about Jackson
-
Yeah... ticket sales won't slide if we draft Jackson. That seems like a preposterous prediction on your part. Do you hate Jackson as a QB as much or more as you hate Tyrod as a QB?
-
So you'll cringe if we draft Jackson?
-
We want a good athlete? I thought TBD consensus was that it's time to move away from all these good athletes at the QB position... so confused My QBs I'll be excited for are Mayfield & Darnold in a trade up or Jackson & Rudolph staying put at 21/22. I'd take Jackson over Rudolph, but there's a good chance even he won't be there at 21/22. So if what we're left with is Rudolph at 21/22 and McBeane take him, it's because they really like him. So I'll be super excited. I'll deal with Rosen and get excited if we trade up for him. But seriously question both his injury history and especially his general demeanor, love for the game and being a "leader of men." For that reason I just really doubt he's on our radar in the way the National media is reporting. I just don't think he's the right type of leader McDermott would want. Just a hunch, nothing more. Don't touch Allen with an 87-foot pole... I guess a 90-footer would be okay, though Me too, but Rosen would unsettle me a little.
-
Wow... tough crowd. The guy has the size, ability, intangibles/leadership and production. Don't know what's not to like about him. I sure as hell don't want to see us trade up for him. And I really won't be upset if we pass on him. But what about him do you dislike so much? On the flip side, I'll break my TV if we draft Allen.
-
Good stuff... thanks for this Hap. I've been moving guys around with who I want most, but Rudolph is the guy my gut wanted 2nd most as the season ended before I really started diving into everything. Mayfield was #1, and still is. I'd be super excited about Rudolph at #21.

Bills signings & TT trade point to trade up
transplantbillsfan replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mayfield or Darnold please... at least we're half in agreement -
So interesting... in a way, I completely understand what you're saying here. We haven't had a franchise quarterback and an obvious one since what 1996 with Jim Kelly? We're desperate for one; we're starved for one; we obviously need one. No one would deny that. And yet, we just made the playoffs for the first time in 17 freaking years! And yes, Taylor was a big contributor to making the playoffs. Deny that as one may, he was. Maybe he wasn't as big a contributor as other team's quarterbacks who made the playoffs, but a team's quarterback will almost naturally be the biggest contributor individually on that team and so it's illogical and unreasonable to do what Bills fans have been doing this offseason in this endless condemnation of Taylor. But it's a visceral thing and I get it considering the 2+ decades without a Franchise QB. But do you think the Eagles fans are celebrating less because it wasn't a Franchise QB who won them a Super Bowl? Do you think Jags or Vikings fans are despondent because it wasn't a Franchise QB who got them to a conference championship game? Look but don't settle and don't pay a King's ransom for a guy you don't love. If the Bills trade up, I expect it's because McBeane loves the guy. Otherwise I think they stay put and probably see if they can suck the marrow of success out of Tyrod.

QB Velocity Numbers for 2018 Draft Released
transplantbillsfan replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bwahahahahaha!!! Folks... look at who has the weakest arm... wow... what a bunch crap. Doesn't seem to jibe with reality... in the same way Tyrod was measured as having a weak arm But according to this, Jackson's arm is weaker than Tyrod's... and both their arms are weaker than EVERY other QB measured at the 2018 Combine. Anyone else? -
Look, I'm not advocating that as an option number one, but I definitely think it's something they are considering doing very strongly. I really think they like Taylor a lot more than fans and the media believe they do. And they will bank on the uproar over not replacing him (whether warranted or not) dying down in the months to follow the draft, which it largely will especially if the team has seriously upgraded other positions with young players. I want Mayfield. I want Darnold. I guess I'll be excited about Rosen, though I don't like his injury history or his demeanor. We draft those 3 guys, it's because we moved up in the draft and trade Tyrod probably. Super stoked and I'm good with that I just don't think it's all that likely. Have you really examined the age of this team? We're running into trouble in the next few years. So at best, I think we take Jackson or Rudolph at #21 and load up on all our other positions after that. And I really don't think that Beane is seriously in the Foles or Cousins sweepstakes. So, while I understand your feelings... you might need to brace for one more year of Tyrod Taylor.
-
Thanks for the post BLM. I would seriously be super stoked about the Bills trading up in the draft for a QB. I'd really much rather trade up for Darnold or Mayfield, but I'd be fine with Rosen. I understand why everyone assumes we're trading up for a QB in the draft, but I don't think it happens. McDermott and Beane seem like long term thinkers... I don't think this is the year they necessarily planned on absolutely getting their Franchise QB.

Beane: "I have no intent to move up or down"
transplantbillsfan replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bradford? Yuck! Rudolph better develop by like week 6 when Bradford has a season ending knee injury, then.
