Kurt warner Breaks Down "Greatest Show on Turf" Offense
Rigotz replied to Old Coot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Very kind of him to break down film from his glory days. -
Good idea for the poll, but not a fan of how you phrased it. I think it's a good idea to trade for an elite Defensive End based on where the team is at. I'm sure many agree. Do I think it will destroy us if we draft D-Line in rounds 1+2 and also get a solid veteran Free Agent as well? No. Adding the "or bust" thing makes it seem like the season is lost if we don't do one specific thing. That's never a good mentality to have at any position. Same as the "we need an elite WR" thing last year ... they're not easy to come by and you can always find other ways to win.

What draft grade did you have on Terrel Bernard after his rookie year?

For anyone wondering "who is Jim Monos" ... he was director of player personnel for the Bills for 4 years during what I call the "Russ Brandon and Rex Ryan" years. After that he lasted 6 months as director of player personnel for an Alliance of American Football League team. Then he became an Uber driver. Yes, I'm serious: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jim-monos-024a15187/details/experience/

Respectfully, I don't think that's how void years work. They count toward your cap whether the player is on the roster or not. Also, I don't care if they actually have to pay him, I care about the cap penalty they incur, which is brutal.

Personally, I factor 3 things into "worst Bills player" 1) What was the investment made in them? 2) How did they play while on the Bills? 3) Did they have any success for another team? I'm seeing a lot of "Maybin" and "Peterman" answers. Maybin had some success on the Jets and Peterman at least was in the league for a while... and was a 5th round pick. To me, there's only one answer: Mike Williams of the 2002 draft. #4 overall pick. Terrible for 3.5 years before the Bills gave up on him. No other team gave him another chance for 4 full years after that. Then played half a season (terribly) at a different position for one team. Then done. That's pretty unprecedented. #4 overall pick to nobody willing to give him a shot, he was so bad.

"Informed they are will be moving in another direction" I.e. "please trade with us before we release him" LOL good luck with that. Also ... LOOK AT THE VOID YEARS ON HIS CONTRACT!! https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/3745/aaron-rodgers The Jets are going to have to pay him $21M the next 2 years to NOT be on the team... and THEN $14M ... and THEN $7M. 4 more years of commitment.

Steelers approach Jags about a Trevor Lawrence Trade
Rigotz replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
My concern would be the Steelers are a well-run organization and just got a good season out of the corpse of Russel Wilson. The Jaguars, in contrast, are a joke. Thus, what we've seen from Lawrence might not be his full potential. He was the consensus #1 overall pick for a reason. I pray the Steelers don't get their hands on a young QB with big upside. -
So... this isn't even close to true. He took the GM role in 2015: 2015: Nelson Agholor: WR - no longer with the team 2016: Carson Wentz: QB - no longer with the team 2017: Derek Barnett: DE 2018: Traded out of first round with Ravens, who took Lamar Jackson, the Eagles took a Dallas Goedert in the 2nd 2019: Andre Dillard - Tackle - no longer with the team 2020: Jalen Reagor: WR - no longer with the team and Justin Jefferson was the next pick 2021: Devonta Smith: WR 2022: Jordan Davis - DT 2023: Jalen Carter - DT/DE 2024: Quinyon Mitchell - CB So, he has 1 offensive lineman and 3 defensive lineman picked in round one of the past 10 drafts. 40%. It's actually an impressively low number. Worth noting, he also has several horrible picks. The guy misses a lot, just like every GM.

Maybe we should copy the Seahawks old approach?
Rigotz replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Having the best CBs and Safeties in the league does absolutely nothing if you can't get pressure on Mahomes, Burrow, and Jackson. On the contrary, if you have an elite defensive line, your can stand average DB play. The game is won and lost in the trenches. -
Alright. Guys. I appreciate the Maxx Crosby and Miles Garrett talk. We need an impact DE. That's true. For the love of god, though. Get the value right. Defensive End is one of the most important positions on the field and you're asking for two guys who are at the top of the league in their position. A 1st and 4th is not enough. Also, you might not have been paying attention, but the Raiders' Tight End had the best rookie season of all time. A "2nd plus someone like Kincaid" makes zero sense. The price is two 1st round picks and maybe more.

Not using James Cook on final drive a head scratcher
Rigotz replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
The third down back is Ty Johnson. He's in on passing downs. That situation is primarily a passing script. James Cook is bad at pass blocking. You can expect Ty Johnson to be in on any pure passing script sequences. -
I'm in a bad mental spot. I'm sure many of you are. What are you doing to get out of it? No sarcastic responses, please. We can make any excuses we want - the refs, the defense, McDermott, etc. - but the fact is they were so close... again... and same result. It feels pointless to continue as a fan.

Ok bye then

Personally, this Ravens matchup is my "McDermott Game."
Rigotz replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I finally took the time to read through this full thread. You responded what, 8 times attacking me for my initial post? I didn’t say McDermott needs to be fired. I didn’t even say he’s bad. I corrected my initial post that said he’s “at worst average” because this offended you and others… with a clarification that I meant his detractors would call him average. Im happy the Bills won. I’m extra happy for McDermott. This weird, smarmy, sarcastic tone you struck over and over again might be fun to watch by onlookers, but it’s sad. We like the same team. Good lord. -

I also think these type of responses come off as insecure and fragile. We are on a Buffalo Bills message board. I am typing my opinion. You are responding. Nobody expects Sean McDermott to read this… but you felt it necessary to attack a fellow fan for having an opinion that, let me guess, is different from yours? Time to look in the mirror bud. Enjoy the win, it was awesome. The rest is unnecessary and embarrassing. -

Rigotz replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m kinda surprised this thread is still going. A bit surprised people went so crazy on me for just saying I wasn’t fully bought in to McDermott… Just to be clear, he did a ton this game. His defense made plays when needed, he had a great plan coming in, and he won. It wasn’t an offensive track meet to have Josh bail him out. This is exactly what I needed to see. No more complaints here. The same calibre of preparation and defensive play calling in the playoffs as what we have seen in regular season. I’m happy - enough with crucifying each other. -
Seems like a good dude. I like him. The thing that kills me is the national media and player narratives surrounding him. They all WANT him to be the best player in the league because he’s electric to watch and he is aligned with the upbringing and race of the majority of the non-QB league. Moreso than Mahomes, Russel Wilson, etc. There are definite “one of us” vibes happening. I wish it wasn’t part of the conversation, but it is.

We had two time outs as well. Late in the game in that situation, I would have been supremely confident in Josh. Nervous for the situation, but confident in Josh.

At least average means even doubters would call him average. Would you prefer that I call him elite? -

So if the Bills win 13-10 or 42-40 it doesn't impact your feelings on McDermott at all? That's surprising. To me, as a Defensive specialist, McDermott needs to show that his defense can step up in the playoffs against top competition.
