My "bull#### detector" has been going off with McDaniel ever since I saw that filmed cell phone conversation with Tua from when he was hired. I'll believe that his coaching style and demeanor are sustainable when I see it. Until then, I'm leery, and like I said, I suspect his schtick will get old fast if and when the team starts losing football games.

As someone else pointed out on social media... As long as the Dolphins are winning, then McDaniel's whole schtick is cute and everyone loves him. If they start losing, though, he's in danger of going from "cool" to "corny" real quick. Then his act gets old fast. It's a Rex Ryan type situation.

Fair enough. They were also 13th against the rush last year, but are 4th this year. I think that being better against the run necessarily leads to giving up more passing yards, and the injuries and turnover at CB and S have certainly not helped.

The Bills defense is ranked: 2nd in the league in DVOA 2nd in the league in PPG allowed 9th in the league in YPG allowed The Bills have the second best point differential in the league and are the AFC's current 1-seed at 10-3, in large part because of the defense. This, despite an absolutely ridiculous rash of injuries, including Tre'Davious White missing half the season, Micah Hyde on IR, and now Von Miller on IR. I mean I GUESS you can say they have underwhelmed, but I would disagree.

I'm not sure who Bowers is. DaQuan Jones has been excellent, though. Worth every penny. Definitely NOT a luxury. A crucial piece of the defense.

DaQuan Jones has been an absolute beast this year, and I just wanted to take a moment to recognize it. Against the run. Against the pass. Taking on double teams. Shedding blocks. He has been the one consistently healthy Bills defensive tackle this year, and he's also been the best DT on the team. The ripple effect of Jones' great play has also helped the defensive ends have greater success, and has allowed Edmunds and Milano to flow to the ball more freely. An absolute homerun signing. Unlike in the case of Star Lotulelei, who was controversial for all of his years here, I think every Bills fan can agree that DaQuan Jones has been a home run signing by Brandon Beane. Arguably his best free agent signing of the past few years. Very, very glad this man is a Buffalo Bill.

Damn. It's weeks like that that make you want to quit fantasy altogether. Rough.

I agree that running a dynasty league seems tiring. Thankfully, someone else is the commish in both of the leagues I'm in. I just recently started doing it (I have a first year and a second year team), and I love it. I immediately prefer it over redraft leagues. It's cool because when you're having a bad season, you can still have fun. You can trade aging players away for younger players or future draft picks. You can survey the scene and say "I'm not realistically keeping up with the top two or three teams, but they're filled with older players, so I'm gonna position myself to be a contender a season or two from now". Other people have little patience and trade away future draft picks for good players NOW. Fun in the moment, but something you regret once your team starts aging and the future comes. A guy in my league correctly realized he wasn't in any shape to contend this season or next, so he traded away all his best assets for youngsters and draft picks, but by 2024 or so, he'll likely be the top team in the league, and for a long time. Rookie picks hitting can really change your team's fortunes quickly. The key to dynasty leagues working well is having a group of people committed to sticking around for the long haul. The danger of someone trading away all their future assets, wrecking their roster, and then leaving behind an orphan team that nobody wants is very real. That's why many dynasty leagues require you to pay future years in advance, or to pay a monetary fee for any trades you make using future assets. If you CAN get a good, committed crew, though, it's an absolute blast, and feels like it rewards strategy and long term planning more than luck, to a degree that redraft does not.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people fail to comprehend what the first amendment actually says, and what it actually protects. There seems to be this notion that "free speech" means "protected from any and all potential consequences, including being let go by a privately owned business because you're hurting their bottom line". Any time a company says "you're not worth the trouble you're causing our company with your comments or actions, so we're letting you go", many conflate it with an "infringement on free speech" and scream about cancel culture. In actuality, it's just an example of free market capitalism in its purest form. No more, no less. Many of the people that scream the loudest about the constitution have never actually read it.

I'm intrigued by Keeper leagues. I'm in dynasty leagues, but in those, you just keep your whole team. They appeal to my love for roster building and long term strategy. I also love that there's a rookie draft every year, that you can trade future draft picks, and the whole added layer of strategy around player ages. For instance, early in the season, a clearly non-contending team traded Tyreek Hill to a contending team in exchange for Drake London. Whereas that wouldn't be a fair trade in a redraft league, it made good sense both parties in this instance. Keeper leagues, though...that's a whole OTHER level of strategy involved. They seem a little intimidating, but I'm sure they're not, once you get the hang of things. Are there rookie drafts in those, as well?

Well? Who's in? Who missed out on the playoffs by one heartbreaking game outcome? What players carried your team this season? Who let you down and is dead to you now? If there's one thing other people LOVE, it's hearing you go on and on about your fantasy league. So let's hear it! Me? I'm in two dynasty leagues and a standard (redraft) league. Decent amount of money on the line in all three. I have a 10-4 record and a first round bye in both dynasty leagues. I made the playoffs as the third seed in the redraft league, and my first round matchup is against a work rival. It's a FRIENDLY rivalry, but still. Should be a fun one. Letdowns for me this season: Kyle Pitts, Kyler Murray, D'Andre Swift. MVPs for me this season: Saquon Barkley, Tee Higgins, Mike Williams, AJ Brown, Greg Dulcich (mid-season waiver wire add). Not all of these guys on the same team, mind you, but across the three leagues. So....Are you bringing home the trophy?

I'm excited about this one. Big game, bright lights, high stakes, winter weather, a rivalry reborn. It doesn't get better than this.

When I heard that Beasley signed with the Bills, I figured the thread on TSW would be an absolute banger. So far, it has not disappointed.

I saw on Twitter that the benching of Elam last week was likely due largely to gameplan. The Bills played 80% zone against the Pats. That is definitely a strength of Rhodes and a weakness of Elam at the moment. That, combined with the fact that Elam doesn't play on special teams, and they wanted all hands on deck there against the dangerous Pats returner Marucs Jones, is likely what led to Elam being inactive. If he continues to be inactive going forward, I'll start to be concerned.

I agree that Miami seems to be having good injury luck with their opponents lately. However, it's important to remember that they lost their own starting QB for three games, all of which were losses. Hard to get to mad at the injury "luck" of a team for whom three of their four losses came when their starting QB was sidelined.

The fact that the Bills are 4th in PPG allowed despite the absolutely INSANE rash of injuries to defensive players and having the second hardest strength of schedule, and that many Bills fans don't appreciate it, and still want Frazier gone...is just nuts to me. All I have to say is: Be careful what you wish for.
