  1. Croatia. PKs. Again. World Cup Champion betting favorites Brazil are out. Incredible.
  2. That makes some sense to me. The only rebuttal I'd have would be to say that just about every call an NFL official makes is ALREADY a judgement call. It's already so subjective!
  3. I've always thought there should be two pass interference penalties, just like there are two facemasking penalties. "Incidental" interference would be 15 yards. "Intentional" pass interference -- really blatant instances, as you say -- would still be a spot foul. Yes, it would still be up to the judgement of officials, but it already is now, so what's the difference? I think that penalizing "incidental" interference only 15 yards would at least prevent those ticky-tack fouls and instances of people tripping over each other's legs accidentally from swinging drive and game outcomes. It might even prevent huge yardage gains on some of those situations we see all too frequently where QBs purposely underthrow long passes specifically to draw fouls. But if you yank a guy down intentionally or pin his arm or whatever, then yeah, still a spot foul.
  4. I think 10 yard penalty is perfect. As others have said, a sack usually results in the loss of 5-7 yards anyway. If it was only a five yard penalty, people would hold all of the time to save themselves the down. The penalty has to be bad enough that teams don't do it on purpose. If we want to talk about the enforcement or language of holding penalties, that's fine, but the penalty yardage for it is right on point, IMO. Now....defensive pass interference? THAT should change. 45-yard penalties that decide game outcomes are ridiculous and should not happen.
  5. There are three Christmas movies that I watch every year, without fail. Others rotate in and out (Elf, Home Alone 1 and 2, Die Hard, Gremlins, etc). But the every year must-watches? The first is Christmas Vacation. Just about every scene and every beat of it crack me up. Endlessly quotable. The second is the Rankin-Bass special Santa Claus is Comin To Town. I saw it for the first time as a stoned teenager, and Burgermeister Meisterburger cracked me up. What a character. The third is the original Grinch cartoon. I mean..."Your soul is an appalling dump heap" ?! Gold, Jerry. Gold!!
  6. My dad is definitely smarter than Zach Wilson's dad.
  7. Really? I think I could get like 275, 280 tops.
  8. If three lines is long enough for ya that ya need to do a "TL;DR" for it...I dunno what to tell ya, man.
  9. We obviously don't see eye to eye on many topics, but this is an A+ post.
  10. DVOA = defense-adjusted value over average. A Metric created to get a true evaluation of the quality of a team overall. Takes into accounts opponents played, etc. SOS = Strength of Schedule SOV = Strength of Victory Point differential = points scored minus points allowed WAR lost to injury = a metric created to measure the productivity a team loses due to player injuries EPA = expected points added. Basically, how successful the Bills are per play Conclusion from the Bills' rankings in all those categories: Despite losing the 2nd most productivity to injury and facing a top two schedule, the Bills are a top 3 team by any and all measures. They're very good.
  11. Agreed. I don't want to get caught up in any arguments here about the American legal system and how it deals with (or doesn't deal with) sexual assault accusations, especially those involving intoxicants. Let's just say I'm not at all surprised by this outcome, I remain disgusted, and I'm glad he's not a Buffalo Bill.
  12. I agree that private lots tend to be a lot more reasonable and less debaucherous than the bigger or more public lots. I tailgate in the same place every time these days, and its fine, but I usually like to go on a big walkabout at some point in the morning. Walk through all the lots, including the official lots and Hammer's lot, and take in the sights and sounds. It is during this walkabout that I see the first helping of grossness most of the time. Then, in the stands, and particularly as the game progresses, there are often gross, drunken spectacles. If one is interested enough and possesses enough money to do it, one can easily curate the gameday experience in such a way as to minimize exposure to the foolishness. If one tours the grounds surrounding the stadium pre-game, and sits in a cheaper level seat amongst the rabble...one is bound to be exposed to high, strange grossness. That's been my experience, anyway. YMMV.
  13. As Marv Levy used to say: "It's simple, but it isn't easy".
  14. Do they even play a Pro Bowl game any more? If not, what are people voting for, exactly? I'll stick with the AP All-Pro 1st and 2nd team votes, thank you.
  15. I respectfully disagree.
  16. Me trying to get excited for the Jets game and the rest of the season and to pretend like this injury doesn't massively impact the Bills' chances of winning the Super Bowl:
  17. I fully agree that WR and OL should be the top two priorities. As I said here not long ago, I'd be fine with the whole offseason revolving entirely around upgrading the offense. That said, if Edmunds is not re-signed, the Bills will have a massive hole at MLB, and you can damned sure bet they'll be forced to spend a premium pick to replace him.
  18. I say the following while fully acknowledging that I just posted a GIF of sawing off the state of Florida and letting it float out to sea, but... Taking potshots at opposing teams' cities is the lowest form of smack talk in existence. There is an infinite amount of on-field stuff to talk smack about. Badmouthing the place people choose to live, or were born in, or whatever -- ESPECIALLY when, as is often the case, the person doing the badmouthing has never even BEEN to the place they're badmouthing -- is just cheap, lowbrow, unnecessary garbage. Sports smacktalk should stay in the realm of sports. When you start getting into talking crap about where people live, it turns personal. It doesn't need to -- and shouldn't -- get to that level. Dolphins fans have no choice but to resort to this lowbrow crap, though, because right now the Bills have the better record, the better seed, and the better odds of winning the division. They've got nothing else.
  19. It really seems to me that the Cowboys leaked what they did about his medical information to placate fans and analysts. An excuse for why he's going to end up signing with the "lesser" Bills or Giants. Jerruh doesn't like the way a big time receiver choosing someone other than his Cowboys looks, so he put out a nasty leak so he can make it seem like the Cowboys were the ones not interested. Bills and Giants would seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse, and I won't rule out an unexpected suitor that no one is talking about to swoop in and sign him. Based on the Cowboys leak stuff and McDermott's interview with Eisen, I certainly feel better about the Bills' chances than I did at this time yesterday.
  20. Now talk about Tremon Smith, Khalil McKenzie, Darwin Thompson, Nick Alligretti, Michael Danna, and Thakarius Keyes. I'll wait here.
