  1. But fans don't get to decide what Manziel " deserves". He has talent. Maybe enough to play NFL Quarterback. If the people actually making such decisions for NFL teams decide they want to give him a chance to play in their league, then he deserves the chance. Simple as that.
  2. And they still don't , not yet anyway. They sit at 12 and may not have a willing trade partner with a high enough pick.
  3. The Giants aren't looking to do NE or Beckham any big favors.
  4. I voted for A , simply because it gives them their choice of all but 1 QB. There's something to be said for going all in on a guy. The 2019 1st hurts, and I see why some might want to hang onto it and get a lower spot. It looks to be a great year for DL. It could be a pretty high pick too. That means less choice at QB, but if the guy they really like is a good shot to be there with say 4 or 6 anyway then it makes sense.
  5. I think this might be the new normal at the skill positions. FA WR salaries are escalating. Windows of opportunity to win championships are shrinking. Drafted players are cost controlled and you get 5 years at a decent rate for 1st rounders. Then you start the cycle again with new drafted skill guys. QBs , elite pass rushers, elite pass protecting OLs and the top few WRs will be retained. The rest are rotated through every few seasons. Evans may be the most productive, but that doesn't make everyone else JAG. If you hit on a pick like Evans , you keep him if you can. I don't think Tampa has a great winning tradition while they've had Evans, though. Other WRs can win games too.
  6. Nothing? Lol, I'm sure they hated the 8 TDs ( on a mere 70 targets) and his YPC was also tops among Rams WRs . If SW had a decent QB his whole career and an OC that fed him the ball he'd have much better overall " production". That's why he got paid. NFL types know what they are seeing. And " busts" generally don't end up getting lucrative second contracts in the NFL. If they get a second contract at all. The Rams are looking for a replacement that's less expensive right now. OBJ fits that , even if he ends up being a rental. Nothing the Rams are doing right now is for the long term. They're going all in to win now. They couldn't pay Watkins and do much else. They have weapons, but not a WR with SWs skill set.
  7. And yet lots of these WRs are getting paid. Big $$$. These NFL people must not know what they are watching.
  8. While he struggled last year, that hasn't been the guy's history. It's really an outlier season for him. It's not like hoping a WR that's been plagued by the drops his whole career is suddenly going to change his stripes. He's worth a look if available due to the Bills almost bare cupboard at WR.
  9. It was likely a factor to Beane, but I'm sure he'd had conversations with Gettelman. Now, he's not going to divulge his pick to Beane, but I'm sure he was able to get a read on things. I just don't think much of this was in Beanes control once the Jets were willing to pay what the Colts demanded. It's just a no risk proposition for the Colts, pretty much risk free. QBs are going to come off the board fast at the top. Their targeted player or even a guy they wouldn't expect could fall to them at 6. If that happens, their phone could be ringing with another sweetheart deal to move down if a QB is still there. It's really a win for the Colts either way, as they could choose between a player they know is there at 6 or a lucrative trade possibility. That wouldn't happen sitting at 12. And they won't know who they might be passing on until the draft is underway. There just was no reason to take any Bills offfer due to the unknowns.
  10. If he's healthy he's worth a look. Had a down year for sure, but if he's got half a tank left he's still pretty good. Bills tried to trade for him back in 2015. Different FO though, of course.
  11. It's easier for players to remember the date as they're blazing a spliff I doubt this.
  12. Hey, stop making sense. Don't you know Beane can just try harder and throw in an extra pick next year or something. ? Presto! Deal done.
  13. He's on a 5th year option for a reasonable salary this year. In 2019, it could be a different story, bit not necessarily. The Bills have little cap $$ dedicated to the WR position. Even if they draft a WR high this year or next, that player won't be taking up much cap space. Benjamin needs to produce to get paid, and last years injuries ( and Tyrod) make it tough to evaluate him. He's not an outside WR that beats you deep. If he produces though, he can still fit in Buffalo's salary structure at a higher salary. You have to look at what they are paying out to WRs as a whole , which is not much. It shouldn't be , as they have practically no talent at the position. A big FA addition next season could change that. But that doesn't seem to fit this FO MO, especially if you see what top FA WRs such as Watkins are getting on the open market.
  14. No offseason drug testing. Random tests only occurr when you are in the drug program. That means you've already had a couple positive tests. Otherwise you receive advance notice of the date you will be tested.
  15. Had is the key word. In case you missed it, Watkins hit it big in free agency. The Rams need to replace Watkins, as they no longer have the WR that will open up their underneath passing game for Kupp and Woods. OBJ is on a 5th year option for about 8 million. That's close to half what they'd be paying Watkins if they were able to keep him. Seems like a good fit that could fall into their lap if it happens.
  16. I don't care what they've done in the past , as it's irrelevant. I will say if the Bills were to draft Jackson ( and probably if they don't ) they would do well to hire a real QB coach.
  17. But it wasn't simply a financial transaction. More of a barter. The Jets were offering picks and a filet. And enough room left for dessert. The Bills were offering picks too, but accompanied with a house sirloin. . It's not surprising which offer the Colts chose.
  18. Or that he wouldn't be thrilled about being drafted by Cleveland .
  19. I guess you could reach that conclusion. CLE is much more like BUF than SoCal . Rosen might not be a " fit" in WNY either.
  20. Hmmmm. I saw that segment on NFLN. He said Darnold is a better fit for Cleveland than Rosen. A better "fit". Didn't Rosen say he didn't want to play for Cleveland or something like that? Not surprising his coach might drop a hint too.
  21. Maybe the Colts would have, but probably not. The Bills spot at #12 was likely a sticking point. Once the Jets expressed interest, the Colts leveraged the Bills offer to raise the Jets price. As long as the Jets would agree, they were getting the 3spot. Their pick at 6 was a far more attractive move to Colts GM Ballard, and carried only a small risk of losing out on targeted player. It was getting 3 2nds for practically nothing. Best of all, he could sit tight at 6 and wait for the phone to ring again if a coveted QB is still on the board. He'd end up with more picks this way than by taking the Bills offer and going all the way out of the top 10. You're really overlooking the obvious to blame Beane ; he simply didn't have the cards to win that hand. 6 is better than 12 and the Jets picks are better in every round. A future first? The Jets could match that too and it's just as likely to be a high pick as Buffalo's. In the end, they got beat out by a team with more to offer in exchange for less from the Colts.
  22. Interesting. The Bills don't have a right now roster, and probably won't approach that until next offseason/ draft at least.
