  1. I would loved to have seen it, but with the light pollution by our house, there’s just no way. It’s shocking how few stars we can even see.
  2. i can think of a number of places in my house that that would work.
  3. it's a nice gesture to even send them. we do the thank you cards, but i'm just not sure anyone cares anymore. you're right about the occasion. wedding and showers in general almost always get the written thank you card. everything else...meh.
  4. i can't get behind wegmans or dibella's subs. they're very meh to me. better than subway, but not a good as the mom and pop type sub/pizza places.
  5. my wife's friend has another interesting move. say she has a birthday party for one of her kids, and thank you cards are in order. she doesn't write out a specific card to each gift giver, but instead sends the generic picture post card you may get for christmas now. just a picture of the kid/kids on the front with a preprinted, generic thank you on the back.
  6. as most have mentioned, i think texts and emails have taken over. that being said, or group is pretty good about sending written cards. if we bring friend's kids gifts for birthdays, we always get a card in response. i think it gets harder for getting teens to send out thank you cards. i did hear a great solution though. if a child gets money as a gift, don't allow them to spend the money or cash the check until the card has been sent out.
  7. i'm good with going out as long as the establishment and customers play by the rules. i went to an indoor dinner for the first time this thurday, and they did a great job. everyone wore masks to the table. tables separated, (which i feel bad for the owner, but has to be done for now), masks when going to the bathroom, etc. i'd go back they did such a good job. my brother in law accidentally forgot his mask at the table when leaving, and wow were people pissed. it's just treated differently around here which i appreciate. people are going out, but are being careful. to me that's the best mix.
  8. the guy named his dog peanut butter. i can't get behind him in any way.
  9. i'm going to buy enough to have a suit made.
  10. aaaaannnndddd...my kid's daycare had a covid patient. right in her age group. we got our call from the department of health, and she'll be on quarantine until the beginning on next week. so it begins.
  11. i was thinking for the people that worked in the store all year round. going in is fun, but could you listen to christmas every day that you went to work? i like christmas music to get me in the mood, but no way.
  12. when i was just home on lunch, i looked, and i couldn't find a single nest. i wish i knew that the trees were, but they're large,(30ft ish) oval shaped trees. very dense with leaves, so if there are nests, they're buried inside. you can walk right up and see the caterpillars on the leaves, but no nests. that being said, they're either dying off or molting. no more leavings, and i'm finding some dead ones on the ground. we'll see if there's a phase 2.
  13. if anyone has ever been to niagara on the lake, there's a christmas themed store that plays christmas music all year round. i think working in that store would give me ptsd for the holiday season. every day...christmas music.
  14. we were never even aware of them until a few weeks ago, when apparently it was too late to spray. it's not all of our trees, but just two that happen to be close to the house. there are so many caterpillars, that if you stop and listen, you can hear their feces dropping from the trees. the mess it's made is incredible.
  15. anyone having problems with the gypsy moth caterpillars? they've stripped a bunch of our trees, and their ***** has completely covered a portion of our pool area. why not?
  16. oh. i didn't realize they'd still be on campus.
  17. i'm pretty sure harvard already made the decision to go all virtual learning, while other schools are committed to bringing students back on campus...so who knows.
  18. it certainly helps!
  19. well, some of us know how to spell it.
  20. cocaine is a hell of a drug.
