  1. Salary cap makes having "dream teams" difficult to assemble and stay together. Coupled with FA it's almost impossible. RB-wise a few things are in play. One, they just don't stay in their prime well, and the career is far and away shorter than a QB or WR... So right there that's tough. But also, GMs and HCs don't want to use up their talent all at once. The "curse of 370" and the "1800 threshold" are generally true, so they don't want to hit those numbers. The curse of 370 is that if a RB gets more than 370 carries in a year, it burns him out and he sucks next year. The 1800 threshold is that once a RB gets 1800 carries, he's done being productive and starts to fall off a cliff statistically. Here's an interesting read o the curse of 370. It's from 2007 and it's about if Shaun Alexander will be good again, but it's the most comprehensive case forthe curse I have seen: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2007/370-carries-revisited Here's a more recent (and extremely comprehensive) look at the 1800 rule: https://www-numberfire-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.numberfire.com/nfl/news/4940/measuring-nfl-running-back-longevity-falling-off-the-1-800-carry-cliff/amp?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQCCAE%3D#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From %1%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.numberfire.com%2Fnfl%2Fnews%2F4940%2Fmeasuring-nfl-running-back-longevity-falling-off-the-1-800-carry-cliff
  2. They do share with busboys and bartenders, but not with back-of-house. Also this is a very new, NY specific law. Idk if it exists elsewhere. The law started with a sob story about how tough it is to be a waitress and since they raised the waitress min wage, they didn't want employers forcing tip-pooling to avoid paying more to back-of-house. The fact is the growing chasm between front and back of house pay has left a dearth of folks willing to work in the kitchen when they find out they can work 5 hours instead of 8 and make 2x or 3x the money out front. Not to mention they generally only pay tax on 5-10% of the tips. And it CAN be tough to be a waitress, customers can really suck, but if a waitress works 40 hours at a decent restaurant, they often make $700-$1000 or more weekly. Typically only 1 person in the kitchen gets paid that much. If it was up to me, everybody would get the same hourly wage, and split the tips evenly. Waitresses get tipped for two things, 1. Service, and 2. Food... so it makes sense to tip everyone involved. No matter what job you do, if your pay is directly related to how good of a job you do, you are a much better, more productive, happier employee. Like you said... Those guys need some $$$
  3. I have worked in more than a dozen restaurants and have only seen tip splitting in one (which is now closed). Either way our illustrious governor made tip-splitting illegal. We are no longer allowed to force our wait staff to share tips with anyone. I have cooked for 18 years, run kitchens, and now own one... And have gotten probably $80 total throughout my career in tips.
  4. Many people also tip the waitress if they had a good meal, though. Kitchen gets none of that. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. For what it's worth I know waitresees that will blame the kitchen for problems anyway because people won't penalize their tips. I had a waitress call it "a victimless crime". She's not the only one... Obviously I'm biased having grown up a cook, but many people may not realize that aside from the owner, the waitresses/bartenders are the highest paid people in the restaurant and it's not even close. Not to mention their shift lengths are generally about half as long as the kitchen workers. I'm not jealous, I couldn't deal with people constantly and food is my passion, but it seems like nobody recognizes the dishwashers, prep cooks, etc. They have families to support, too and they work longer hours and make less money. Just a little love for the dishwashers of the world that never get mentioned or tipped, or anything. Kinda got off topic
  5. Yes.... And I would add "big" everything has skeletons in their closets.
  6. https://amp-si-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/amp.si.com/nfl/2018/08/04/ray-lewis-hall-fame-weekend-atlanta-murders?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1#amp_tf=From %1%24s Very interesting read where the writer basically asserts that the NFL has proven willing to cover up (or ignore/obstruct the truth) issues of their stars. Kind of hard to argue with his assertion. It's not even really a "hit piece", but more of an article meant to bring these practices to light. This particular writer describes his experiences reporting this story for years and the intimidation and roadblocks he faced just trying to get the story. I don't think this is particularly controversial, but is something I feel like most football fans may be interested in reading.
  7. Marijuana?!?! GASP! I would love to get Willies auto in September, but I feel I'll be lucky if he even plays. From what I understand he has not played over a dozen of these OMF's because he wasn't feeling well. I can't blame him, he's damn near 90 years old, but I do hope I get a chance to see him. Haha. This was my first CD. I bet I could still sing along with it cover to cover.
  8. Baby steps. 4 days. I can handle that better.
  9. I just love that, to quote Trace Atkins, country songs are "songs about me". I can directly relate to it, and just for that reason it's hard to beat. Country also takes it for me because of Bluegrass, which I consider to be an extension of the genre. You add Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs, amd Doc Watson to the country list and there's no list of Brits that tops it. Imo of course.
  10. Agree to disagree. Country may even edge out rock for me. Real country anyway.
  11. There it is. Uk has rock, US has country. It's a tie. UK vintage vinyl is much better though. They had the edge on pressing good records. Also, since the most popular vinyl at the time was british, many of the American pressings of bands like Black Sabbath, Zep, Floyd, amd many others were actually recorded on whatever (casette, reel tape, or an actual record itself and not the plate), then sent across the pond, and then recorded and pressed off of those mediums. So not only could they press better than us, but they had it first hand where we had a copy of a copy. The new 180g vinyls are awesome though.
  12. Okay I'll play Here's the prophet:
  13. Good call. Let me pile on You got it right. It's called $#!t. For the most part, country died 20 years ago. It's part of a movement to morph all music into the same thing: poppy, electronic, beat-heavy, catchy chorus junk. Only difference is one genre talks about drugs and thugs, another talks about drugs and trucks, and the others talk about drugs and love. Bleh.
  14. 1. Waylon 2. Hank Sr 3. Hank Jr. 4. Cash 5. Merle Heck of a birthday gift. I did get an autographed postcard of Johnny Cash some years ago. Pretty awesome. I even had it authenticated. Still hanging on the wall now. Funny thing is that it's probably the only pic I've seen of him wearing blue, but the little brass tag says "Man in Black". Of course that was a moniker of his, but they had to put it on the only freakin' picture in existence of him not wearing black.
  15. I would go see a Waylon "impersonator" or cover band. Waylon is my favorite even among the giants like Hank and Cash. I found a British pressing of Ladies Love Oitlaws and it is easily my best quality country vinyl. What an amazing press it is, and what a great tracklist. It's a toss up for me whether I like Ladies Love Outlaws as much as Lonesome, On'ry, and Mean but my copy of that kinda sucks so I listen to the better quality albums more. Also a big fan of Cedartown Georgia, Always Been Crazy, and Are You Ready for the Country. I guess now I'm just listing Waylon albums lol. Love this guys music. I saw the Pink Floyd Experience at the Smith Opera House in Geneva about 10 years ago and it was awesome. Almost as good as Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes the next weekend...
  16. This is REALLY hard. I would have an easier time coming up with a top 20 or 25. 5 is restrictive, but here goes... Black Sabbath - Paranoid Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Waylon Jennings - Ladies Love Outlaws Paul Simon - Graceland Metallica - Kill 'em All Hon. Mention... Michael Jackson - Off the Wall Can't believe I just made a top 5 with no Hanks... But when I really think of it as 5 albums I can't live without, it's those 5. Best country voice of all time!
  17. Reefer edibles. Won't solve the problem, but can ease the symptoms and you may forget you had a problem for a while.
  18. I'm gonna let that one slide since you have "ski" at the end of your name.... ...but this is just terrible. I can't even imagine the line of serial killers, rapers, and general pervs waiting to get this stuff. Wow. 2018 I guess.
  19. For real. Just let this guy coach for at least 5 years. And I actually believe that's Terry's plan. Finally let a guy implement his system. He sure talks the talk, and has walked the walk thus far. I am very hopeful.
  20. No, deer are in abundance here. I've hit 7 of them just in cars. They give out several buck AND doe tags when you renew the license, but you can apply for the white deer lottery if you want to. Most people I know kill as many deer as they can, and don't generally "tag out". Admittedly I not the greatest hunter. I don't sit still well. So it's a lucky year for me to even kill 1, but then I'm done. I just want the meat. That's why I don't apply for white deer, they are for trophy, and I'm not eating something like that that is all white for who-knows-why that live their whole lives in the ex army depot where they stored nukes. Something just makes me wonder if those suckers are radioactive or are white because of radiation. They say it's safe, but I'm not buying it.
  21. It is. Bountiful wildlife as well. More diverse in the twin tiers NY/PA but still very good in WNY. In my area you can get a tag (through lottery) to hunt the all-white deer at the old depot compound. I won't go south of the PA/MD border. Lol When I move, it will be probably north, possibly Alaska or at least northern NH.
  22. This belongs in ppp since they have become so political. It's not comedy anymore. Imo watching that stuff in 2018 is just like watching Sean Hannity or Rachael Maddow.
  23. Overload one side of the line and put a spy on (or double) Shady to guard against the cutback. If you can put pressure on McPeterAllen and guard against Shady's cut, you can shut down our offense. I don't believe, with the current personnel, we could overcome that. I hope I'm wrong and Daboll has some sorcery cooked up, but this year looks like it could be a long one for the offense.
  24. I want to see Hank with somebody, I hear his combo shows are better. Also I hear Charlie is selective with what he plays, as he no longer agrees with smoking amd drinking and the like. From what I understand he changes some lyrics too, like when he plays "Saddle Tramp". Jinks is cool. Not in love with him so much as Whitey Morgan or Hellbound Glory (before the new dumpster fire). You are right there are not many good ones left. I must admit as far as new music goes there isn't much anywhere. I like Metallica's new album and am currently addicted to Greta Van Fleet but other than that I'm not into the poppy, well, every damn thing.
  25. I agree with this... But this seems to be a thin majority- fair weather just overtook Buffalo in the poll... But what you call 'pool weather', I call brutal heat. But to quote Chan Gailey "that's why Baskin Robbins has 31 different flavors" Still shows love for Buffalo, can you imagine what the poll would look like if we polled Californians?
