  1. It hurts, but it's true. One team wins consistently and is a model franchise, one is a laughing stock that has never won anything. One QB is a future HOF, the other is an unproven and inaccurate 2nd year player. As for Pittsburgh vs. Buffalo, Pittsburgh is a little nicer...but it's basically a wash, both are cold, blue-collar cities.
  2. Other free agents just saw this and will probably wonder why THEY should go to Buffalo, if Antonio Brown would rather retire than play for the Bills. Beane should've been on the Pegula's jet, with Terry and Kim, McDermott, McCoy, Allen, Andre Reed, and whomever else they could get to sell him on coming to Buffalo...hell, they could've even reached out to Terrell Owens and brought him along. Now we go from Antonio Brown to John Brown. Lol.
  3. Because if they can trade for a #1 WR, they can use free agency and the draft to fix the offensive line...they have enough money for both. Josh Allen needs weapons, especially some that can get open. It's common sense. They're not winning anything without a true #1 WR...whether it's now or later, it's a huge position of need. They're not winning anything until they turn their offense into a modern day NFL offense that passes the football, and to do that they need a legit weapon at WR.
  4. $10M per year for an offensive guard who will be 31 in June? Oof. I'm not sure that's the way to go.
  5. Mr. Wendell, a man, a human in flesh, But not by law, I feed you dignity to stand with pride, Realize that all in all you stand tall, Go ahead, Mr. Wendell...
  6. I'm all in...he would make a perfect match with Josh Allen. He has the speed for Allen's arm, and he has the catch radius for Allen's arm. I would take DK Metcalf in the 1st round, and then trade into the end of the 1st round for Noah Fant. (Get veteran OL in free agency.)
  7. Defense in the 1st round? No WR until the 4th? No TE until the 6th? Meh.
  8. I cannot express enough how happy I was the day I subscribed to SiriusXM radio and found the NFL/NHL radio stations. Of course it's not only Bills/Sabres talk, but I'd rather listen to general NFL/NHL talk than listen to literally anyone at WGR anymore. It's. So. Much. Better. For. Me. Now. ? Jeremy White has spewed that nonsense for years. Anyone who thinks culture in sports doesn't matter, has never actually played sports...last season's Bills is a perfect example of culture making a difference.
  9. Is there an emoji throwing up? I'd use that if I could find it.
  10. The problem is, we actually need 2-3 linebackers who CAN fly around and make plays...so, besides Milano, where are we getting those? We rebuilt the entire secondary last offseason, I'd like to do the same this offseason with our group of linebackers. I want a legitimate stud LB, a 1st or 2nd round beast to put in the front-7...too bad Roquan Smith wouldn't fall far enough, he's the only real stud that fits.
  11. It was actually to be able to get more speed on the field, specifically Curtis Samuel. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21240301/kelvin-benjamin-carolina-panthers-traded-buffalo-bills "The Panthers were willing to part with Benjamin because it eliminates some redundancy on the field with Benjamin, who is 6-foot-5, and Devin Funchess, who is 6-foot-4 with a similar skill set and now moves into Benjamin's role as the No. 1 receiver. The Panthers also want to get faster receivers such as Russell Shepard, rookie Curtis Samuel and Kaelin Clay on the field more." Any cap space they have will be used for guys like Greg Olsen, Thomas Davis, Devin Funchess, and possibly Jonathan Stewart, Ryan Kalil and/or Charles Johnson...I can't see the Panthers spending big money on Star Lotulelei, when they have Kawann Short and Vernon Butler.
  12. Every year the problem (to many fans) is the WR's...but maybe it's just that the QB we have isn't any good. Anybody who watches him and thinks he's a QB who could win playoff games, let alone a Super Bowl, is downright delusional.
  13. Shane Doan. Whether it's for the Bills or Sabres, they wouldn't send a jet out to pick up a fringe player...it's probably just a family trip.
  14. I don't buy that Reggie Ragland doesn't fit this defense, but for some reason Preston Brown does. It certainly can't be due to speed, because Ragland ran the faster times at the combine. Should've waited until he was fully healthy...but hey, at least we kept Ramon Humber and Lorenzo Alexander!
  15. Amen. My thoughts, exactly! That's why the Jets and Browns are doing it right...they got rid of all their old player, and kept the young players. Is this serious? Marcell Dareus would make a great 3-4 defensive end. They're running a 4-3 because that is what Sean McDermott has always run, that is his defensive system. Marcell Dareus fits in a 3-4 better than Kyle Williams, Jerry Hughes and Shaq Lawson. Lol.
  16. The Patriots make these moves all the time...it's part of the way they've built their team. You couldn't trade Andre Holmes, Ryan Davis and Vlad Ducasse for a 3rd round pick...cutting fringe players, at best, is definitely worth a 3rd round pick. I'd rather keep Brandon Reilly, bring back Kolby Listenbee or sign Dorial Green-Beckham, than keep Andre Holmes...he's 29 years old, with 1,400 yards and 12 TD's in 6 seasons. (You can find an Andre Holmes anywhere, just like they found Justin Hunter and his 4 TD's last year...you can easily find someone cheaper to provide 250 yards and 2 TD's per season.)
  17. This one? https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/former-mizzou-cb-e-j-gaines-leaves-bloodied-face-rams-chargers-fight/
  18. I haven't read through all of this yet, but I'll bite on this... They drafted Peterman in the 5th round because at that point in the draft he was, in their mind, the best value left on their board. As someone else alluded to, the backup QB is important, and without Frank Reich we don't beat the Oilers in the comeback. They probably see him as a safe backup, with potential to be something more. But you don't pass on a draft class that has upwards of FIVE potential franchise QB's, because you drafted a 5th round QB. For every Tom Brady, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott...there's also Trent Edwards, Cardale Jones, Matt Barkley, Ryan Nassib, Geno Smith, Mike Glennon, Tyler Wilson, Brock Osweiler, Ryan Mallett, Logan Thomas, Tom Savage, Aaron Murray, AJ McCarron, Garrett Grayson, Bryce Petty, Ricky Stanzi, TJ Yates, Nathan Enderle, Jimmy Clausen, Colt McCoy, Mike Kafka, John Skelton...and on, and on, and on. But if you look at the top-4 teams last year, they had Tom Brady (the exception, not the rule). Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan and Ben Roethlisberger...the best QB ever and three first round draft picks. If the Bills have a chance to land a legitimate franchise QB, they have to take that chance. If Nathan Peterman grows into a good QB, then they could trade him for a 1st round pick at some point down the line. It'll always be easier to find a Nathan Peterman, than it will be to find a Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Stafford, Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, Marcus Mariota, or Jameis Winston. We could potentially have our Frank Reich, now I want our Jim Kelly...we could potentially make the playoffs once in a while with Peterman, but I want to be Super Bowl contenders for years to come. We've waited too long for this, we've rolled the dice on too many questionable QB's...everyone should want to see our team bring in one of these consensus first round QB's in the 2018 draft. (Everyone in our front office either came from an organization that has their franchise QB, or an organization that struggled to find a franchise QB...Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott (Carolina), Joe Schoen (Miami), Brian Gaine (Houston), Malik Boyd (Arizona), Terrance Gray (Minnesota), Lake Dawson (Cleveland)...these guys most definitely understand that in order to win a Super Bowl in today's NFL, you need that franchise QB running your offense.) PS. Wilson was knocked down the draft boards due to his size. Prescott was knocked down due to his size, the fact that his team took a step back during his final year, and because of a DUI. Cousins was knocked down due to questions about his arm talent and being a "game-manager," but he was also drafted the same year as Griffin and was expected to be the long-term backup. (All three would've gone higher, if not for these questions and concerns.)
  19. God forbid a professional sports head coach wants "coachability and availability" from his professional players. Lol. Is that really too much to ask of grown men who make millions upon millions of dollars? I mean, that is exactly what they're paid for. Seriously, is there really an issue with this statement? "“If you’re not coachable, you’re not going to be able to play," Marrone said on Tuesday. "If you’re not available, you’re not going to be able to play. Biggest mistake I can make as a head coach is put somebody out there that isn’t ready or hasn’t practiced. I’m letting the fans down, I’m letting the team down, I’m letting you down, I’m letting everybody down."" I hope McDermott is the same way, because you know who else has been that way? Belichick, Parcells, Lombardi and some of the best coaches in the history of the NFL. That's why they win. (And it's been a huge reason why the Bills don't win.)
  20. I can't roll my eyes enough at this... (Every team does it...and music has absolutely NOTHING to do with discipline.)
  21. We really have no clue what that stop-watch said. Lol. I still hope it's Hodges - Ragland - Brown, with Alexander as a situational pass-rusher.
  22. That's a "radio station?" It looks like a fan-run blog, with a header of a picture of Tom Brady and three other guys I couldn't name if you gave me 29738947947349 tries to do so. Sounds credible though. https://sportstalk360.com/about-us/
  23. A full-blown rebuild like the Sabres have gone through? No, it's not. But it is a rebuild, of the entire organization. If you're not rebuilding, and you're not contending...what are you doing? I see several positions that need to be seriously strengthened for us to be a solid football team...not including more solid depth across the entire roster. I see it like this...looking down the road. (Starters first, backups second, and so on...positions in need represented with a "?.") QB: Tyrod (for how long?), Peterman RB: Shady (for how long?), Williams, ? (this is a tough position, it needs to be rebuilt if Williams doesn't pan out.) FB: Dimarco WR: Watkins (for how long?), Jones, (after that we really just don't know) TE: Clay (for how long?), O'Leary, ? OT: Glenn, Dawkins, ? OG: Incognito (for how long?), Miller, Groy C: Wood (for how long?), Groy DE: Hughes (for how long?), Lawson, ?, ? DT: Dareus (for how long?), Williams (for how long?), Washington, Worthy OLB: Alexander (for how long?), Milano/Vallejo, ?, ? (this position needs some SERIOUS work) MLB: Ragland, Brown (for how long?), ?, ? CB: Darby, White, Seymour, ?, ? (depth is a concern) FS: Poyer, ? SS: Hyde, ? K: Hauschka P: Schmidt/Rehkow There's a lot of question marks and guys who could be leaving one way or another within a year...this roster needs some work, and these guys need some time to do it. And knowing the Carolina way, it is going to be done through the draft...not in free agency.
  24. Hey everybody, thanks for the kind responses and you're welcome for the post and insight. I, too, am in wait and see mode, but I am very comfortable with this decision. We need to give it time. Personally, I didn't like our draft this year, but I am more optimistic about the Bills than I have been in a long time because of these moves...I trust these guys as football men/minds. (I just think we need two cornerstones to build around like Cam and Kuechly...a QB and an absolute stud on defense.) My cousin currently lives in Charlotte, and he says the talk around there has also been that the Bills finally did something right and landed two great leaders. It's really simple, they lost their best CB and literally had nobody else at CB. McDermott values CB's in his scheme, and they needed to replenish that position with so many other position groups being strong. It didn't result in wins, but I believe that had more to do with Cam and Kuechly being hurt...again, those are their leaders and the engines that make the machine go in Carolina. White, Hyde, Poyer, Johnson, Wright, Cromartie, Sylve, Gaines, Elston...the visit with Boston, as well as reported interest in others (Claiborne, Webb, etc) shows how much McDermott values his DB's. (But, man, I hate our linebacker group...Ragland, Brown, Alexander, Humber and two very small draft picks? Meh, that group needs some work eventually. Compare it to Kuechly, Davis and Thompson? Lol.) Anyways, I think we have a good set of young guys to help build this thing and we need to give them some time...it's been 17 years, to me another year or two is nothing if it means a decade of winning. I'd also like to bring this to your attention...I believe McDermott can do some great things with Kevon Seymour, check it out. Josh Norman is 6-0, 197 lbs, and played at Coastal Carolina...he was a 5th round pick. Arm Length - 32 3/4" Hand Size - 9 1/4" 40-yard Dash - 4.66 Bench Press - 14 reps Vertical - 33 inches Broad Jump - 124 inches 3-Cone Drill - 7.09 20-yard Shuttle - 4.23 Kevon Seymour is 6-0, 186lbs, and played at USC...he was a 6th round pick. (He's comparable to Adoree Jackson, a first round pick.) Arm Length - 31 3/4" Hand Size - 9" 40-yard Dash - 4.39 Bench Press - 12 reps Vertical - 35 inches Broad Jump - 124 inches 3-Cone Drill - 6.81 20-yard Shuttle - 4.18 Seymour would've been a much higher draft pick if he were healthy his last season (knee and ankle injuries)...and I've read that he could be better suited for zone-coverage. Again, I'm no expert, but I think we could have three very good CB's on our roster, and that's something McDermott and Frazier are very good at...just something to keep an eye on. PS. I REALLY MISS MYRTLE BEACH! Lol. One of the best experiences of my life living down there.
  25. His straight line speed isn't supposed to be as good as Karlos', but his shiftiness is supposed to be better...I think his size and speed combo is a huge asset. Karlos Williams - 40 yard dash: 4.48 3-cone drill: 7.16 20 yard shuttle: 4.46 Jonathan Williams - 40 yard dash:4.59 3 cone drill: 6.97 20 yard shuttle: 4.29 http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/jonathan-williams?id=2555227 https://www.todayspigskin.com/afc/buffalo-bills/jonathan-williams-long-term-steal-bills/
