  1. Damn - my bad, didn't catch that! Well like Dean Wormer once told me: fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son.
  2. Well if you haven't seen Animal House - and you like funny movies - it might be worth your while to check it out. Knowledge is good.
  3. LOL, I used the same line from Animal House a number of years ago and got similar reactions.
  4. I think he still has to clear the medical hurdle, but maybe the Twins already had that info already and are comfortable with the shorter deal. If so, I'd love to know why the Mets (or Giants) wouldn't have done the same. On one hand this is disappointing, but between concern about the meds and the fact that I am comfortable with the Escobar/Baty fallback option I'm content to shrug my shoulders and move on. EDIT: here's an article from Heyman with some more detail. I'm pretty sure that Heyman is Boras' unofficlal mouth piece: https://nypost.com/2023/01/10/why-carlos-correa-ended-up-with-twins-instead-of-mets/
  5. Momma's gonna worry I've been a bad, bad boy No use saying sorry It's something that I enjoy If you could be inside my head You'd see that black and white is red Flying high again
  6. I live in a community that lost a high schooler to a lacrosse incident years ago. The parents dedicated themselves to AED awareness, training and availability - the result was the local little league had enough AED's to go around and the coach of the home team had to check out an AED for every game which sat in the dugout. A point of emphasis during the training was how important the proximity of the AED was. As a practical matter having one is better than none, but it would be great to see some portion of the 8 mill spent on equipping some communities with AED's and funding training. Probably easier said then done though.
  7. I have no idea what the school rules are, but the general use is a concern. If there's only one then you can't put it on the soccer field if there's also a lacrosse game going on - and even if there's one event you wouldn't want to take it from it's known location in case it's needed in the building. No doubt - that's why you're 'not sure if they are portable' comment threw me.
  8. I can't speak to the law, but as a practical matter expecting someone to locate and retrieve an AED in time during an emergency sounds specious. Probably OK in a reasonably sized office setting.
  9. Serious question: Is there such a thing as a non-portable AED? The ones we've had at work and through the little league were all portable. Other than a hospital setting I can't imagine someone in need being brought to an AED
  10. Don't believe them when they tell me There ain't no cure The rich stay healthy The sick stay poor
  11. Everybody knows that the bird is the word!
  12. LOL, I took a stab at this earlier today - I have Chargers/Jags in the same time slot. I think the Bills will get a night game and put them on Monday. I put the 49ers on Saturday night - with the assumption it will be against the Packers. What I wonder is how much they consider the following week matchups. Seems obvious the Monday night winner would play Sunday.
  13. Did you imagine the final sound as a gun? Or the smashing windscreen of the car? Did you ever imagine the last thing you'd hear As you're fading out was a song? Arriving somewhere but not here
  14. Set the controls for the heart of the sun
  15. I'm not a big fan of rap either but every so often I come across a song that I love. It's a bit disappointing to me that my boys listen mostly to rap but a few months ago my high schooler told me he thought Steely Dan was really chill, college boy said he thinks Jack Johnson is the most chill and both think Holy Diver is epic so to each their own.
  16. Happy New Year back at ya! Completely agree on your last sentence speculation - was talking to my boys shortly before posting about Cohen being Boras's golden goose.
  17. At this point in the conversation my sense is that you and I cannot find common ground with regard to 'the situation' you referenced. If I understand correctly you firmly believe Damar Hamlin will never play for the Bills again On the other hand, I think its possible that Damar Hamlin will play for the Bills again Time will tell Go Bills!
  18. Your guarantee is not only meaningless to me but irrelevant to our back and forth. I completely agree with the bolded - it speaks to the reason I questioned your characterization of 'the situation' in the first place.
  19. Cuz if it was a freak incident then they are already assuming the same risk with every player they put on the field.
  20. Correa goes to third - he's cool with that. For 300+ mill who wouldn't be? Well, maybe a modern day A-Rod
  21. Darling, I just want you to know Your tears won't leave a trace In another time girl In another time girl In another place
  22. @ExWNYer @Gugny @Another Fan For the most part it's been all quiet on the western front wrt to Correa. I still expect a deal to happen, but my big take-away right now is that Cohen's financial might has muzzled the normal Borass d-baggery.
  23. Yeah, I don't think any doctor directly addressed him playing again, but I think there was a quote to the effect that best case scenario was he would be back to who he was prior to Monday. To be clear, I'm not suggesting he will or should come back or the Bills or any other team would assume 'the risk'. But if it was a freak accident as some reports suggest then the risk any team would assume would be no different than the risk of putting any player in the same situation.
  24. What situation? I thought one doctor stated that best case scenario he could come back - which admittedly surprised me. But by some accounts this may have been as a freak occurrence and not the result of some pre-existing condition. So I'm curious what you mean by 'that situation'.
