  1. The defense had an off day yesterday, coming off the bye against an opponent that the whole team obviously didn't take very seriously. We've seen nothing this season to make us think that this was anything other than an aberration. I'm not worried about the defense at all.
  2. I think he's subtracting out the 3 point cushion we get for home field advantage. We would be dogs on a neutral field.
  3. What third quarter issues are you talking about? The Bills had one drive in the 3rd quarter and it went for the go-ahead TD. You're complaining about a 98 yard TD drive.
  4. I had some God Sake when I was in Japan. It was okay but I'll stick with whiskey thanks.
  5. I'm pretty sure he was on the field for the last TD to Beasley. Edit: Yes, he was lined up on the right side of the formation, opposite Beasley.
  6. Seems about right. Bills vs. Eagles is a solid strength-vs-strength and weakness-vs-weakness matchup.
  7. White Smoke Gore came up big during that 98 yard drive in the second half. That was (obviously) the game-changing drive. Everybody else seemed out of sorts for long sections of the game.
  8. Yep. I feel like things will have gone wrong somehow if Allen throws for 300+ this week. Let's get ahead early, pound the rock, and move on to Philly.
  9. We "stole" nothing from the Jets and Titans. Those teams are both at least decent (I think the Jets are better than decent), but we were the better team in both games and we got the wins that we deserved. There is no "number of blowouts" tiebreaker in playoff seeding. While I would like to see us score more -- who wouldn't? -- I disagree that we can't be a contender without more offense. If we can score 20 points every game, that's enough to go 13-3 or so and win playoff games on the road. The only team in our conference that I don't think we can reliably hold to fewer than 20 points is Kansas City, but even that is do-able. Heck, the Colts did it. And besides, there is every reason to expect our offense to get better as the season goes along. We have a young QB who is still developing, and nine (!) of our offensive starters are new to to the team this year. We haven't seen the best of this unit yet.
  10. I voted A. He's the person most directly responsible for building a strong culture and team chemistry that this franchise has lacked since the SB era. Since McD arrived, our team consistently pulls out a win or two in games that we have no business winning, which reflects well on the coach. He needs better game-day management to move up to an A+, but that's a relatively small part of his job compared to the other big-picture stuff. Heading into the draft, I was led to believe that Josh Allen was a super-raw prospect from a third tier program who would need to learn the game from the sideline. Nearly everybody agreed that he shouldn't see the field during his first year, and many argued that he would need to sit and watch for two seasons before being ready for game action. With that as our starting point, Josh Allen's development has come along much faster than expected. He's not there yet, but he's in his second year and he's clearly on the right trajectory. Not much more you can ask of a coaching staff.
  11. He also threw for 89 yards against New England with no TDs and 3 INTs. Our pass defense is not significantly worse than New England's.
  12. This is exactly like having Steve Young ready to come off the bench to replace Joe Montana. Edit: No wait, it's actually the opposite of that.
  13. I rewatched the Tennessee game on Saturday focusing entirely on Ford and Ed Oliver (when he was on the field). Honestly, Ford was fine at RT. He's clearly a better run-blocker than pass-blocker, and he did give up a sack on a play where he was beaten immediately off the snap, but he wasn't the liability in pass protection that he was in some earlier games. I'm not sold by any stretch of the imagination and I suspect his long-term future might be at guard, but there's reason for optimism.
  14. The Bills have had no problem moving the ball on anybody except NE. The only reason why we needed a comeback against the Jets was because of weird, flukey turnovers. The only reason why we weren't up 27-0 on Cincinnati at halftime was because of penalties and mental mistakes. At some point, we are going to have a mostly error-free game. If it comes against a team like Miami, it will result in us hanging 40+ points on them. Our offense figures to run way more plays than them because they aren't going to be able to sustain drives or even get first downs against our defense. The opportunity is definitely there.
  15. That was also the game after the Dennis Byrd injury. Everybody expected the Jets to just mail it in. Obviously they didn't.
  16. I strongly agree. At the time that we beat them, they were a good team. Not world-beaters, but a very solid road win. This is not really an 0-4 team.
  17. Rosen couldn't move the ball against a defense that was regularly giving up 30 a game. It's going to be interesting to see what our defense does to these guys.
  18. I expect to see Rosen, who is the worse of the two options, but honestly it shouldn't matter. Miami looked every bit as awful as advertised.
  19. If we don't turn the ball over, I think our odds are better than 50-50 of shutting them out.
  20. That pick was pretty bad, but in Rosen's defense I think he was confused by having a pocket to step into.
