Week 5, Cheats v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!
SoMAn replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills 34 Patriots 31 -
My favorite part - topped off with Josh in the kindest way saying, "aww, that's nice". Do you know how lucky we are to have this guy on our team?

Is Hawes in the process of surpassing Knox as TE2??
SoMAn replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree that he's a mediocre TE. Maybe because of his experience and knowledge, slightly better than average at the position. I'm just not sure you should discount his contributions to the overall team chemistry and the bond he's built over the past several years with Josh. Down the road his salary may make him a cap casualty, but not before they have to address contracts for Kincaid and Hawes, which are at least a couple years away. -

SoMAn replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Knox is 'Mr. Brightside'. He's not going anywhere. Don't overlook the chemistry that Beane has built into this team. Knox is an entrenched 'Allen guy', They always carry 3 TEs anyway. No great need to make changes at that position quite yet. When Kincaid is up for a contract in a couple of years that may change. They'll probably want to re-sign him. By that time Knox will be 30-ish, and still have some value on the trade market. I don't know how they manage their cap, but they may limit how much they want to allot to that position group. But, to answer the OP, I think Hawes could eventually be TE 1 or TE 2. We haven't seen enough targets to him yet to truly evaluate his value as a pass catcher/route runner. Right now, Hawes is a great addition to a group of tenacious blockers helping James Cook to be a weekly threat. I'm good with that for now. -
I often get the impression that McDermott is not completely comfortable in public speaking scenarios where he’s forced to be ‘on stage’. Facing the media he frequently has nervous itches he has to scratch when fielding questions he may not want to be totally candid with. Addressing the team in post-game there’s a lot of congratulations being punctuated with ‘man’ to put a bow on it. This isn’t a knock on the coach. Just an observation and belief he’s probably more at ease in one on one situations…man.

It was too clever. Put in a jumbo package that includes Anderson and Hawes and make like a Buffalo snowplow in January. The play depended too much on a part-time right tackle to pull and execute. Had the Bills lost that game, that play would’ve been one they looked at as a contributing factor.

It's hard not to like the guy, and I hope he develops into a solid player, but I've been skeptical about his talent level since seeing him slipping all over the turf at the combine. I believe it was during the 3-cone drill, but it may have been a different metric for pass rushers. I forget exactly, but I remember thinking maybe he's got the wrong cleats for that turf. Considering what I saw at the combine, and now following training camp and preseason games and not getting on the field, I have to think he may take time to develop or could be a gamble that won't pay off. At least not this year.

Let's put this in perspective; the folks who come to this forum are not the target audience for halftime show entertainment. We're football fans. The target audience is aimed at the (mostly) younger crowd who are primarily into the party, commercials and the overall spectacle that surround the Super Bowl. That group frequently has little to no interest in the game. They're the same people who'll be non-stop talking, scrolling through Tik-Tok, taking selfies, and double-dipping with chips for 4 hours. 😊

Oops. Just replied with the same. I had trouble bringing myself to read the entire thread until now.

Convoluted logic. If you flip a coin and it comes up ‘tails’ 10 consecutive times, are the odds better that it will come up ‘heads’ with the 11th flip of the coin? No. It’s still 50-50 every time. Deliberately losing a turnover battle to improve the chances of it not happening again in the future is nonsensical. Maybe the only thing stupider would be purposely losing a game. 🙄

Ravens at Chiefs - who do you want to have their third loss?
SoMAn replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why should it matter? If the Bills are a champion-caliber team, it’s up to them to win the games they should and not depend on the other guys. They’re not ‘in the hunt’. They’re in the driver seat and control their own destiny. -
Week 4, Ain'ts v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!

Bills 38 Stents 28 -
Are you using your smart phone wifi and WGR app for the audio play-by-play? Is that the reason for the delay? I'm betting if you went old-school War Memorial Stadium with a transistor radio and earphones there wouldn't be much, if any, latency.

Bills Defense, will it get better as season goes on
SoMAn replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall
I believe it will improve as the rookies and 2nd year players gain experience, along with the return of the suspended and injured players (specifically Milano and Oliver). Of course the trend towards an improved defense will depend somewhat on keeping their impact players out of the infirmary an on the field. I'm optimistic about improved chemistry and efficiency on the offensive side of the ball as well. -
First ballot HOF players playing now

Tremaine Edmunds. He's still young and learning, so don't count him out yet. -
Hope that was said tongue-in-cheek. Given a choice between a reckless gunslinger who’s exciting to watch but loses winnable games, or a conservative approach QB that gets the job done consistently, which one do you choose? For me it’s a no-brainer. Big dub all day long. Sugar-high Josh who thought he could do it all and made questionable decisions that occasionally led to turnovers has matured into a refined field general. He now protects the ball and methodically matriculates the team towards the endzone while still putting on the cape with splash plays just enough to still be exciting to watch.

During the 20-0 Dolphins over Bills 70's, there were several games that would have had a different outcome with a ball bouncing a different direction on one or two plays. History shows 20-0, but many of those games were fairly close. It's the same for the domination by the Patriots and more recently the Chiefs. If you reviewed all the games that led up to those championships, you realize that there were a handful of plays that could have gone the other way. It's an unrealistic expectation by Bills' fans to think the Bills are going to stomp all over every opponent that is viewed as inferior. There will be games that they'll be lucky to get away with a W, and there will no doubt be an instance when they are simply having an off day and their opponent is 'on'. That's how you get upsets. It will more than likely happen at some point during the season. The key is putting it behind them and not letting in become a trend. Those are the teams that become champions.

9/18/25 GAMEDAY Bills vs Dolphins Post Game Thread TNF
SoMAn replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know I'm getting ahead of myself here, but it's interesting to think that a Jets loss in Tampa and a Patriots loss to Pittsburgh this weekend would leave the Bills, after the 3-0 start, with two 0-3 teams and one 1-2 team in their division. It would take an epic fail on their part to not take their 6th consecutive division title. The two 0-3 teams having already lost to the Bills are effectively 4 games behind in any divisional race. Good luck overcoming that. -
Great read about #17 and what makes him tick
SoMAn replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just for perspective: Three QBs from one of the greatest QB classes (1983)John Elway, Kelly, and Marino, appeared in 8 losing efforts in super bowls before Elway finally won one in his penultimate, 15th season. Winning again in his final year. side note: the Bills are notorious for losing 4 in a row, but I'd completely forgotten the Elway and the Broncos lost 3 of 4 in the late 80s. Josh is still relatively young for a modern day QB. I believe Josh, with the right supporting cast, will get to a Super Bowl, and hopefully bring the Lombardi home to Buffalo. Will it happen this year? We'll find out. But, there are 31 other teams with the same dream, and probably at least 8 for which it's a realistic goal. One thing I'm certain of is that Josh Allen hungers to bring that championship to the people of Buffalo and that he will give 100% to make it happen. -
Week 3, Fish v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!

Lost in the noise - Chiefs 0-2 for the first time in the Mahomes era
SoMAn replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills are in the driver seat as far as any race for the #1 seed. They already have (effectively) a 2-game lead on the Ravens, and if they can defeat the Chiefs in November, they could conceivably have what amounts to a 4-game lead in the race by matching W-L loss records with them until they faceoff. Apart from home field advantage, it would be really sweet to finally get that extra week of rest while the others beat each other up in the wildcard rounds. Having to only win 2 games (at home) rather than 3 is huuuuuge. The mission continues tomorrow with an early Friday-style fish fry. -
And I hope he wears a helmet and elbow pads if he takes his Schwinn out for a ride. 🙄

Cool project. I love the vintage look of old War Memorial, but if it was my project, I'd look for something without the baseball diamond. Call me OCD, but I always hated the look when the Bills played the Dolphins, Raiders, and others, and they still had their baseball infields in the middle of the gridiron. The memory of days of War Memorial brings to mind such a different experience than what fans have today. It was rustic. It was intimate. It was simple. The scoreboard a basic array of lightbulbs. There were no replays on a Jumbotron. The sound of a live jazz or marching band along with the combined smells of popcorn, hot dogs, cigars, and the grass field made it feel like we were still in some post-war era movie. Sitting not more than 20 feet from the visitors bench is part of the seed that was planted they became my lifelong Bills fandom. The experience in the new stadium will be unrecognizable to what we had in the 60's. Better? On some level, for sure3. But there was still something very personal about that old stadium that I'm nostalgic about. Good luck on the man cave.
