That was my thought...or hope for another kicker to go down and trade him for a late round pick.

9/7/25 Post Game Thread - Bills vs Ravens SNF
SoMAn replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Apparently you’re not aware of the literacy rate in Baltimore. They're still trying to figure out how to spell ‘Google’. -
I don’t know. It looks like a reasonably young (under 35?) bicep, and there are flat screen TVs hung on the wall in background- making me believe it’s not a terribly ancient photo. But, I’m no bicep expert, so who knows?

Probably not him, but it would be suitable for a guy who appeared in 6 super bowls with the Bills and Broncos- Mike Lodish.

The KC Vs Chargers game implications for the Bills
SoMAn replied to BigAl2526's topic in The Stadium Wall
The AFC West could have the Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers beating each other up so that none of them can grab the # 1 seed. This season may be the Chiefs biggest challenge for playoff positioning in several years. -
Week 1, Nevermores v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!
SoMAn replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
File this under "I'd love to be wrong", but I believe the Bills are overmatched in this one. The Ravens have a superior roster and the Bills are already dealing with numerous injuries before the first whistle blows. 1. They'll need the home crowd to stifle the Raven offense and give the Bills players extra motivation. 2. The Bills have to win the turnover battle. 3. Josh and his skill players need to bring their A-game. 4. Babich will need to scheme some looks that confuse Lamar. Lots of 'ifs'. The Ravens have revenge on their minds. Ravens 28 Bills 17 -
I think some of us may forget or not quite understand the objective of the HBO show. They're attempting to have a show that can be entertaining for a broad audience of hard core and casual fans - or possibly draw some non-fans into the NFL sphere. Like any limited production, there's tons of editing choices that leave a lot of footage on the cutting room floor as they attempt to tell a story as concisely as possible. It would be impossible to feature every story line and every player that has an angle with the limited scope of the Hard Knocks episode. I enjoyed seeing some insider stuff and getting to know some of the players better. Now I'm ready for Sunday night. Go Bills!

Allen's humor was on full display when he broke the QB huddle with deliberate (and uncharacteristic) absence of enthusiasm. When he did the "win on three" (or whatever it is he says), the QBs, obviously affecting apathy and sleepiness for the cameras, all displayed the energy of a sloth. It was hilarious. Side note to the finale...anyone notice Deone Walker's obvious limp in one scene? With only the one clip shown, it's to say if it was chronic or a temporary irritation following a specific play. Starting to worry about this D-line that was supposed to be revamped for 2025.

This further reinforces the argument at how difficult it is to win it all. When the Idiot Choir chimes in with the “fire McDermott” chorus, consider the number of teams and coaches who never experienced a Super Bowl victory more than once, and many that never get bgck to the dance again. When 31 other teams are fighting for the same prize, it’s a major achievement to get there and to win it.

Can’t argue with those picks. I’d add the Namath-era Jets unis to that group as well.

Guess I'm in the minority, or maybe just that the dissidents are the most vocal, but i find them kind of cool - but for one game only. Then, wash, fold neatly, and put them in the drawer until next year.

And if they play their cards right- top 5 draft pick in ‘26 ! I should have used that as my birthday candle wish. Damn.

Just got the thinking about the incredible financial burden 🙄to those non-Bills fans complaining about tax dollars being used to assist in building stadium.... ...If after all is said and done and it turns out the financial benefit to NYS is a mere $250 million over 30 years, $600 million in the hole would cost the 20,000,000 residents (man, woman, and child) $1 per year in that span of time. Boo-hoo. Even IF it was all imposed on taxpayers up front in next year's tax bill (it wouldn't be), before any financial return, it would cost everyone a whopping $42.50 per resident. But, that's completely unrealistic. I can't say how accurate my numbers are, but I'm pretty sure the cost for the average NYer taxpayer will not effect their lifestyle. The average taxpayer in NY State will not even notice that money being used.

Go BOLD - NFL bold predictions 2025 edition!!
SoMAn replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
There seems to be the consensus opinion that the Bills will be in the playoffs, fighting for the number 1 seed. Last year many believed it was a reset year, but exceeded expectations, getting to the AFC Championship game. My prediction: Big wake up call. No cap space, Injuries, thin talent at key positions plague them all season and they miss the playoffs for only the second time during the McDermott regime. Patriots win division. Chiefs and Chargers take two of the wild card spots, while Broncos win division out west. Flame away. -
And that mail room guy with his fancy new truck. Get out!

Fire McDermott!

I wish there were room somewhere on this roster for Gore. I think he's got a load of potential. I can't imagine he'll be content to be a career practice squad player. Unfortunately for him, he's stuck behind 3 established backs, and the only way he'll see the field is if there's an injury or if he's traded.

Rule Questions (Tuck/Intentional Grounding)
SoMAn replied to co_springs_billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
There’s no dispute that it’s within the rules. My stance is that it’s contrary to: 1. The number of allotted timeouts, allowing a ‘work-around’ to stop the clock. 2. Being penalized for deliberately throwing the ball to nobody to avoid a sack (and loss of yards). I understand we’ve all become accustomed to the act, but It just strikes me as a strange that it’s a legal part of the game. -
Rule Questions (Tuck/Intentional Grounding)
SoMAn replied to co_springs_billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve never understood how ‘clocking’ the ball is not intentional grounding, or at the very least, delay of game or unsportsmanlike conduct. It’s obviously a desperation action to save seconds from ticking off the clock. The team spiking the ball is trading a down for an unofficial time out. How is that within the spirit of the game? -
I had a similar thought after looking at the current roster’s D-linemen. How many will they keep and who gets cut? There are as many as 10 that have a legitimate chance to make the 53 without even factoring in the future personnel challenge of having two more serving six week suspensions. Does a veteran get traded or just cut outright? Do the Bills try to sneak one of their draft picks onto the PS and hope that no other team ‘steals’ them? Do they play the PUP IR game to protect valuable future assets? Stay tuned for answers within a couple of weeks. But, to your point, it is a luxury to be in the driver’s seat with an abundance of talent. Now, they just need to turn this ‘problem’ into wins and championships.

Maybe, but bear in mind that they’ll continue drafting and developing more players every year. Attrition is a fact of life for NFL teams. Even with constant turnover of players, the Patriots remained the team to beat for nearly 20 years because of their star QB. Fortunately, the Bills have a similar advantage to keep that window from slamming shut.

I was at that game as well as the season opener when they beat the Dolphins for the first time since the 60s. The excitement of the Bills victory over the Rams and playoff hopes was dampened the next night. Watching MNF, Cosell gave us the shocking news about John Lennon. $12.00 for a ticket. Wow! For perspective, the average teen or early 20s working for minimum wage at an entry-level job could enjoy a Bills game for four hours at work. Very affordable for families and young people to attend several games. It was surprising to see the empty seats in the upper deck in some of the 1980 footage. Of course, Buffalo was in terrible economic shape at that time (largely why I moved to Atlanta). The 1980 team holds special memories for me, partially as the guys being drafted that year were about the same age as me. The Chuck Knox era marked a resurgence and renewed hope for the elusive Super Bowl appearance. But, the pattern of Ralph Wilson ownership that always seemed to sabotage every ascending team reared its ugly head once more. A similar scenario witnessed in the 70s with the exodus of Saban, Ahmad Rashad, et al. Ralph and his bean counters tried to save a few dollars at the expense of a competing team. By 1982, Chuck Knox was fed up with Wilson and moved on to Seattle. We had a couple of good years and high hopes with the Knox teams, then it was back to the cellar. 1980 was a lot of fun. For all you McDermott haters who think he needs to be fired if the Bills don’t reach the Super Bowl- be careful what you wish for. You could end up with another Hank Bullough, Harvey Johnson, or Jim Ringo. These are the days in Bills history you'll have the fondest memories of, even if they don't make it to the dance/

Yeah, two minutes after posting I thought it through. The conversation probably would've gone something like this: Ralph: Here you go fellas - 20 big ones. Player 1: Wait. I thought it was $20 each. Ralph: Sorry if you misunderstood. I said $20. That's pretty good for manual labor. You 3 guys can split it however you like. Enjoy. Take your wives out on the town. Player 2: WTF are we supposed to do with $20? We can't even buy a decent lunch. Ralph: I supposed you can use coupons to get 1/2 off a meal if you buy drinks. Oh, by the way, you guys owe me $40 for parking.
