  1. I am glad we signed Tyree. However, as a Syracuse homer, I wish we would have signed Eric Dungey
  2. If Johnson becomes a special teams stand out and can fill in as needed from time to time the pic is already worth it.
  3. I don’t disagree. I was fully expecting a wide receiver drafted at least by day two. But, for now, I will trust the process.
  4. Do you mean “our“ in terms of the team’s front office or in terms of the posters on this board? Clearly, as some other posters of already said, unlike many of us, the brain trust feels like wide receiver, during the draft, was not that high of a priority. I just hope they are right.
  5. I think the point about Oliver is right on. In an old style 3-4 defense like the bills played during their Super Bowl years he has Bruce Smith-like ability.
  6. His upside for a fifth round pick seems to be his upside. It sounds like his major weakness has been problems maintaining focus and concentration. Apparently he has the potential to be special. Whether or not it happens is another question.
  7. I highly doubt “panic” had anything to do with it. They just had different opinions about the players than you do.
  8. There is always uncertainty in the draft. This is not a newsflash. And, no, I do have “an idea“. It’s a rational one. The general manager seems to share that idea and I tend to trust him more than the posters on the board. And I say that with all respect. So your statement is really a non-specific generalization that doesn’t really add to the discussion. Would you have taken one of the wide receivers available over Cody Ford?
  9. All that matters is this year! It was in a single wide receiver of that quality that you mentioned in this post available. Again, a very weak year for wide receivers. Honestly, you don’t seem to be getting this. Look, remember all the hype about DK ? But, why do you think he wasn’t taken until the 64th pick? Because all of the teams knew he’s way too much of a risk. Just a down year. I can see them making a value pack on day three. Maybe someone like Jamal Custis of Syracuse.
  10. And, this is precisely why your OP was hyperbole, a melodramatic overreaction. This is why no wide receivers were taken in the first two rounds. There was no BPA/value when they picked. Would you rather have Cody Ford or a WR rated lower? It’s just a bad year for them. A team can’t filll every single need in the first three rounds of a draft. Let it play out. The wide receiver corps will be just fine when the season starts
  11. I did read it. Maybe you should choose your words more carefully. You make it sound like anyone could come off the street and be in NFL running back. I reiterate, the notion is a myth. And, it’s not as easy as you say it is to make the adjustment to the pro level even for a running back. With your revised statement, I will agree with you a little more. With your revised statement, I will agree with you a little more.
  12. This notion that the running back position is, as you say, “set and dry“ ( I think you mean cut and dry ) is a total myth that needs to be exposed for what it is. Good NFL running back’s don’t grow on trees. I like this pic and when they made it. All this guy did was score touchdowns.
  13. Beane didn’t “panic”. If you don’t like these last two picks, fine. But don’t project your own anxiety into the process. The RB’s production is outstanding. And, with a third round TE you draft on potential based on your own assessment, not so much production. Not many college TE’s have gaudy numbers. The looks good for the 3rd round.
  14. The Raiders’ and the Giants’ picks are just a little bit surreal to me. This draft has been pretty damn good and we’ve only had six pics! This is what I call entertainment !
  15. To me an even more likely unlikely dark horse at QB from beautiful upstate NY is Eric Dungey from the Cuse. He will probably be a UDA.
  16. I agree with you and, thus, the opening line of my post.Although I do believe that regardless of where he is taken, probably in the first round, he will potential he be more than “just a starter”. As things stand now I would not be comfortable taking him at nine for all of those reasons. But, I do believe he has a higher ceiling than a lot of people on the board give him credit for. It’s hard not to like his intangibles. Also, at this point, if they did take him at nine I suppose I would trust Beane’s judgement.
  17. I’m not sure he’s the BPA at 9 but the age thing is a total non issue. If he is that good who cares if he is 24 instead of 21 or 22? Also, I think sometimes this whole “floor/ceiling“ issue gets overrated. I see no compelling reason to believe that if he is drafted he can’t continue to develop. This is pretty much the case of any young athlete going from college to the pros. I wonder what Kyle Williams’ ceiling was when he was drafted?
  18. Sorry for the double post. Don’t know why that happens sometimes when I dictate. Didn’t proof it before posting.
