In many areas of life the past is prologue. Not so much in the NFL. I really don’t care about recent or remote history versus the Pats*. Beat them on Sunday, and this is absolutely possible, that history becomes bunk.

I’m quite sure that the players and the coaches feel confident they can win this game if they play well. It’s just a bunch of fans that have this “loser mentality“ regarding the Pats*. Which, given recent history, is quite understandable. The attitude one takes is a choice. I choose to be positive that they can definitely win this game. They might pull an upset or get beaten badly. Either way, I like to stay optimistic. Research shows it causes some good chemicals to be secreted by your body when you maintain a positive attitude. If they lose, then it’s onto the next game.

The Bengals players also knew it. They didn’t go after him. Besides, if it was still a live play he was running around so much that the game would’ve probably ended. Either way, great ending to a tough game

Yeah, even the Ex referee they had in the announcing booth questioned that call. But he also noted that it is a “defenseless player” penalty and the refs generally will call it if it’s even in the ballpark.But I’ll take it. Like so many posters have already said, we have been on the other side of these calls, it seems, way too many times.

It seems like for many posters here if Hughes doesn’t have a bunch of sacks in a game he had a bad game. Of course this is not true! Just a bit more complex than that

Yes! 1000 times yes! It seems this needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Also, they did not come out overconfident which is another silly narrative I am hearing. If they came out “overconfident” in the second half of this game then they must have been Uber over confident in the first half of the Jets game

Not obvious in the least. There was an opposing defense on the field. No one can read their minds. They were just getting out played for 1/4. So I disagree but I will let it go here.

I disagree that they were overconfident. They were getting beat for 1/4. It happens during a game. I still don’t understand why people are not getting this. Let me repeat, they did not come out overconfident.
