Deebo and AJ Brown Skipping Offseason Workouts
somnus00 replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting take. Deebo is the reason SF was one game away from the superbowl. Special player in THAT offense. Like you say, I don't see every OC being able to maximize his talents. -
A scrub is a guy that can get no love from you.

I think the problem is where we're picking. I don't see the Bills being able to get Booth or McDuffie at 25. Likely, they'll need to go with guys who have potential and need to get coached up. Luckily for us, the Bills have an excellent coaching staff. CB is our biggest need. But I'd be satisfied if we came away with any 2 of: Alontae Taylor Tariq Woolen Coby Bryant Josh Williams All guys with crazy potential in my opinion.

Why use one "y" when you can use two? -
NFL Teams mandated to hire minority coach as offensive assistant
somnus00 replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is how I feel. I can't understand how some people will add an eye roll or thumbs down emoji at the mention of racism or race based biases. NFL owners and GMs aren't walking around saying the n-word. They would all, probably, tell you that they aren't racist (just like many of the eye rollers here). That doesn't mean they don't harbor subconscious racial biases. Numerous sociology studies have shown this is a factor in modern workplaces. But what is the solution? You can't mandate racism away. You have to educate people about racism and its history. But you can't educate the unwilling. -
Greg Cosell talks Wide Receivers and names scheme fits
somnus00 replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Diggs, Davis, Knox, Howard, Crowder. I'd love a speedy receiver to add to this mix. But let's not act like the cupboard is bare like it is at CB. We have a need at receiver, but a huge gaping hole in the secondary. Allen has some weapons. We'll put up a lot of points. But we have to be able to stop people. -

Zone "based", yes. But we still have to run plenty of press and off-man. We cannot start the season with Cam and Dane as our starters. And we need better horses to compete with a stacked AFC in the playoffs. The level of WRs we have to play is insane. Expecting to be able to scheme for a lack of athleticism in the secondary is not a superbowl winning strategy. We need excellent CBs. -
Love the measurables. McDermott and staff are excellent at developing DBs. I don't know. Levi was undrafted with very limited physical traits. I'd say they did a great job developing him into a serviceable DB. And this is coming from me who really wanted an upgrade at Levi's spot on the depth chart.

Plus, against Miami, the Bills don't have to "cover" Hill as much as they have to force Tua to throw outside the hashmarks. Tua doesn't have the arm.

A poor man's Patterson (Laviska Shenault Jr.)
somnus00 replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
What a fun highlight video to watch. I haven't watched him before. Great balance! Catches the ball with his hands. Makes things happen after the catch (yac) rather than just catching long passes in the open field. Has a funny short stride. Very interesting! Thank you for posting! -
Not a popular opinion here, but I liked Whaley. Ialways felt that he was in a terrible position here. Meddling owner, had Nix as a weird co-GM/boss/mentor hybrid. Russ Brandon 'nuff said. Then he had Rex shoved down his throat. I'm not saying he would've been great. But he certainly wasn't given a real shot.

Especially risky since they no longer have Dante Scarnecchia, one of the greatest o-line coaches of all time. -
I'm both intrigued and nervous about that guy. But the Bills coaching staff have a good track record of developing DBs.

Beane loves physical freaks. Howard is one of those. He's trusting our coaching staff to unlock some potential here. I love these kinds of moves. Low risk. Crazy high reward.

Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million
somnus00 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Bro, you've been calling Beane out all day, asking for a big move. He gives us one and you're still giving him the business. 6 years $120 is PR coming from the agent. No way he sees either one of those numbers. -

AZ cuts Jordan Phillips - now signed by Bills
somnus00 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are the Bills back to being a team that NFL players want to play for? I thought they were a joke franchise when McKissic used the Bills to get back with his ex. I'm so confused with all this drama. -

Kind of flukey playoff appearance, no? They were not a championship contender then. And they aren't now. -
Awesome! You win The Stadium Wall for the day.
