  1. up until the eagles players starting coming down with the flu I thought Philidelphia would make it interesting but if you have two players with flu confirmations there are probably another dozen with varying symptoms...this one will be over by half-time...hope I am wrong
  2. I live in mid-coast Maine and the Pat's fans here are equally as loathsome as those in Boston. I always ask them if they saw the Pats during the 1990s and except for maybe two out of several hundred I get a blank look back; of course they get the meaning of the question but don't have an answer. I recently posted a bunch of referee jerseys on my Facebook page announcing the 2018 Pat's jerseys were now on sale. Drove the New Englanders crazy (that were friends - i think I have had more unfriending due to the Pats than to my politics (fiscally conservative libtard/snowflake/add whatever Ad hominen descriptor you have at hand when out of rationale arguments).
  3. I voted no...they have a great coach (coaches) and a superb QB...however there is definitely a "confirmation bias" that occurs with the refs in Pats games...kind of taints their victories as they would probably win almost as many games without those questionable calls at critical times and the lack of holding calls on their O line..but its not a conscious effort.
  4. mixed feelings-didn't like the jags players but really dislike NE (mostly their fans)...I guess one of them had to win..god I hope we can get some D linemen next year who just crush Beady
  5. Tyrod - 7th, maybe a 6th with a desperate team Cordy Glenn - if they can't get a 2nd or a 3rd and 4th don't make the trade. I would love to see him stay but its on the coaches as to whether he fits what they are trying to do. Shaq Lawson - bucket of wings and thirty beef on wecks.... more seriously would there really be a taker given his injury history and somewhat average play Jerry Hughes - a 3rd if we throw in a free anger management course
  6. that Leonard Johnson quote is Classic...people who don't live or have not lived long in WNY just don't get that the snow really isn't all that bad..of course I now live in Maine so my perspective will always be distorted (and having moved here from San Diego so is my mental competency).
  7. agree......I was chatting with my brother after the game and thought they will probably take a slight step back (6-10 or 7-9) next year and then battling for a playoff spot in 2019, I am torn with this coaching staff.. they really got a lot out of a fairly mediocre squad of players. Then they have those horrible in game decisions which makes me think they aren't taking this team very far into the playoffs even if they slip in each year as a wild card. Its really sheer torture being a Bills or Sabres fan
  8. in the short term yes but in the long term its probably the best move for both the Bills but also Dareus...this team is not likely to go to the Superbowl with Dareus so the answer will lie in what the team does with the saved cap money in terms of free agents..another haul like Poyer and Hyde then Dareus will be a distant and forgotten memory..of course if they land another Kyle Williams with that fifth round pick then its a super move..not likely to happen but you never know
  9. but the symmetry/irony would be wonderful..both teams having lost four super bowls and no wins
  10. Agree there is a lot to be hopeful based on the 2017 results..I had them at 6-10 so even if they finish 8-8 ( I do think they'll win in Miami but just want to go pessimistic for year ends evaluation sake) this team just seems better prepared ( of course you can point out the jets. Saints, Chargers games and that would be a valid counter argument). I don't like a lot of the in game decisions by McDermott but with a slightly better O maybe he ends up with fewer opportunities to have a brain fart. As pointed out by the OP the defensive backfield played way better than could ever be expected. I doubt they can fix the front seven, the O line, the wide receiver weakness and the QB position in one off-season. So I'd love to see them do for the front seven D or the O line what they did for the backfield D this coming year. I worry that if they get a QB this coming draft (and I mean in the first round) he'll get killed by what is a rather poor O-line in spite of what ranks the rating groups are giving them..that right side of the O line is classic bad and Wood is really mediocre. So either O line or D line/LBs this coming year...the WRs and extra running backs can come later when they really have a playoff capable team. Just glad to be a fan and not having to make any of these decisions.
  11. I know this will jinx us but no penalties so far has helped make a difference
  12. yea unfortunately for him he can't run for Senator in Alabama because of that
  13. they slept with pods under their beds
  14. as much as I think they are going to lose this game I'll take 0-0 at this point-if they can miraculously stay close there is always a chance
  15. I have a huge garden....Can you send me the seeds for what you are smoking?
  16. unless you really have a shot at the 1-5 slots losing out won't gain the Bills much...their big problem is their drafts have just been a mismatch to the coaching schemes...hence the constant shuffling (i.e. letting go and trading) of players. just once I wish the Bills would 1) have a coach who schemes to his players strengths and not the other way around and 2) have a competent scouting organization that is in concert with what the coaching staff is looking for
  17. What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! such a great quote..even though I do believe its over just couldn't resist maybe for the next home game everyone shoud dress up as Bluto..that will inspire the players or at least give everyone a good chuckle
  18. these comments make smile and want to find out what great drugs/alcohol these posters seem to be using
  19. certainly trading some of the vets during or before the draft is needed...most of these guys couldn't start for any other team (well except for the browns and niners)..we won't get anything but maybe if you stockpile enough 6s and 7s one can get lucky and hit on one or two players...team needs a total revamp..looks like a three year project going forward
  20. so glad they don't have drug testing for fans..or maybe they should but then I'd have to give up glue
  21. well I was a 6-10 prognosticator and am glad to be humbled....this team (without a lot of elite talent-Shady excepted) shows how important coaching is to the game of football
  22. no Gable was the Prefontaine of the wrestling world
  23. The problem is not the saying itself (as you pointed out its pretty commonly used in a number of workplaces).... its the attitude that somehow if you own or run a company the employees are nothing more than chattel to do as you beckon....from a management perspective that's a horrible way to run a company (how many of you would like your bosses to treat you like a piece of furniture?) I've had several bosses like that and thank god I have a unique skill set and could move on ... on a side and maybe irrelevant note one of the bosses was black and a former NFL football player (marginal - Dallas Cowboy LB back when they had taxi squads which he was on)... he was a guy with some deep seated resentment issues toward highly technical, smart white guys - he himself was very smart but in a different way-HR guy so not swift in Physics, etc but he really could maneuver through the political landmines of a University environment...I don't resent his bias (only the wasting of two years of my life working for him) and actually feel sorry for how his prejudices caused him to create a toxic work environment for his employees
