I went to Canada for beer again, and this time it was FAR different!
Augie replied to Draconator's topic in Off the Wall
The last part sounds more like mushrooms than beer. Just sayin’. 🤷♂️ I may have had a split for every person in China, but I’m honestly not sure if I ever had a full size OV, or even knew they existed! -
Incredibly sad. I never minded driving around town during heavy snow, but long distance on the highways would freak me out! I was returning from my uncle’s funeral (of all things, Buffalo to Cincinnati) with my nuclear family in the car at night along the lake. You know it’s bad, but there is nowhere to safely go. I was the only one awake. You can’t just pull over or you’ll get crushed from behind. Hell, I didn’t even know where “over” was! I could barely see the hood of the car! I was driving by feel with those bump/lane dividers. At one point we went down a big swale and thought we were off the road, but then cruised past a stop sign. It was an exit that I got off on, then unfortunately was back on the highway before I could just hunker down. My mother woke up and said words that cannot be repeated here. We all lived, but the PTSD remains. That is some frightening stuff, and it left it’s mark on me. But this isn’t about me, it’s about those poor people going thru this tragic event. Prayers to those affected in any way. .

But wait! There are exceptions! Put him in a #55 jersey that says “HUGHES” across the back, and all is fair game! .

I was going to say curling, but you make a good point. Curling has to be second. I grew up watching curling on one of my three channels as a kid. Happy times!

I’m afraid it’s a vicious cycle, a chicken AND the egg kinda thing. He needs to be mentally healthy as well as sober, and they go hand in hand. It’s tough, but I will pray for the best for him. We have a little too much experience with how tricky that balancing act can be.

I have DTV Streaming for regular cable TV (thru Apple TV) AND a dish for Sunday Ticket. My son is in a new house with no dish, and somehow he still gets to watch ST by streaming. I don’t know if he has my log-in or somebody else’s, but it definitely works somehow. What I have is overkill, but at least DTV Streaming works, while cable did not. AT&T is hot garbage for cable as all the old UVerse boxes are just refurbished junk. They wouldn’t work straight out of the box. They no longer make or support UVerse boxes, so I’m just glad to have something that works! How’s that for a satisfied customer? “Refreshing. At least this works.” What a ringing endorsement…….. 🙄

Having drawn interest I suspect similar to what Richie is currently receiving, I am announcing that I too have decided to retire.

The Steelers have rings. Ben happened to be a Steeler. He is NOT Josh Allen. In so many ways.

HA! By all means, let them take the “what ya’ got left? I’ll have THAT!” approach!!!
-
I think the real question is how much worse would they have been without him? Maybe one play at a critical time? Maybe in a certain playoff game??? I don’t blame the guy for wanting to get paid. I’m just glad this is the Chief’s problem. This one appears to have been misplayed by KC who gave up all their leverage without locking the player down. This does not feel very “Beane-esque”.
-
If only @HOUSE could remember where he parked the damn car! HINT: your phone will help you with that. I’m not too ashamed to say I’ve used that map feature. It has saved me from having to wait until there was only one car left in the parking lot. KC gave up too much to just walk away, painting themselves into a corner. What kind of meltdown would we have here if Beane made a move like that? He’d have to go into WitSec! .

Anyone live in Florida know any mildly affordable towns to move to?
Augie replied to JaCrispy's topic in Off the Wall
If you believe the old tales, there is a lot of wide spreading in The Villages, if you know what I mean. We used to play football against them too, so it’s more diverse generationally than I would have expected. I guess the people who take care of the frisky old people have kids too! -

I don’t know Punta Gorda well, but have been there for a variety of reasons. My youngest son and I almost died in a horrific accident on I-75 as I took him to a tennis tournament down there. The shock of my life! We were fortunate to come away unscathed. Ocala is like the Kentucky horse country with rolling hills and white fences holding in all those beautiful creatures. You might forget where you are as you pass thru Ocala. Our kids used to play high school sports in LaBelle, FL (east of Ft Myers). In LaBelle you don’t forget where you are, you forget when you are. It’s like stepping back in time, with public schools praying before football games. I don’t mind that, but it’s………..different. One year we had a long heat lighting delay. My wife tried to leave the stadium to go get a nerf football to throw around while we killed time. She was stopped at the gate and told she would have to pay again to re-enter. She pointed out the bus was only about 50 feet away. Security explained that they had a problem with people selling and doing drugs in the parking lot. She pointed out she was a mother in her 40’s at the time. “I realize that, ma’am, but it’s usually the parents selling the drugs to the kids in the parking lot.” Oh……what do you say to that? Add the cost of re-admission to the cost of drugs! . -
As a Bills fan, I say that sounds low and they should probably pay him $30 Mil/year to be sure he’s REALLY happy. They had to know he’d want a new deal when trading for him. I wonder if they had any idea just what he’d want that deal to look like.

I’m more of a Gulf coast guy in terms of preference. Returning to Sarasota is my dream, but some things will have to change before I can accept how expensive it is now. Having said that, St Augustine would be my first choice on the east coast based on what I know so far. We lived in Hilton Head Island, SC and learned to love the low country with the beautiful marshes and tidal creeks. Our very first house had a view over the marsh looking out across Calibogue Sound. Stunningly beautiful, and it has a different look every hour of every day. We were in San Francisco a few weeks ago. Actually, most of our time was spent in Half Moon Bay at the beautiful Ritz Carlton and up in quaint and lovely Healdsburg by the vineyards and wine tasting. My wife’s co-workers in the Bay Area strongly suggested we stay away from the city. Apparently the homelessness and crime is at all-time levels and best to be avoided. Such a shame, on so many levels. -
Having questionable sushi adds significantly to the excitement factor.

What season as a fan do you wish 2022 avenges for you?
Augie replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I survived every season to this point. I don’t need to avenge what I’ve already lived. It just made me stronger! GO BILLS!!! -
WoW! We just filled the very last spot for Thanksgiving!!! Would you like us to place you on the waiting list? 🤷♂️

You and @Royale with Cheese should just get a room! .

My apologies, as I HATE those hypothetical trade threads. I didn’t mean it like that. It was just kind of a rhetorical question where I show Davis support. He is the guy I’d rather have on my team moving forward a few years. I can’t “support that” in any way (and I’m NOT doing any research), it’s just my gut.

My Man, Chandler81 RIP (Bobby, not me. Don’t get your hopes up)

Most importantly, you had to be very careful near Mrs Watson’s rose bushes. Those thorns would GET YOU and you just had to make a business decision. -

I was a Molson guy. First drink my now wife ever bought me was a Molson at a sports bar while watching the Doug Flutie Hail Mary game with BC. I liked Moosehead, and my Canadian friend had very unkind words for Labatt’s that I can’t post here. My favorite, however, were those delicious Old Vienna splits. Heaven in a little bottle! Stayed cold as we paced around the pool table in the basement. Ahhh, what a fabulous misspent youth I had! -
Serious question (that some may think of as stupid): Would you trade Gabe Davis for Metcalf straight up? I’m much higher on Gabe than most, it seems. (Same with Knox, and I hope we can keep both long term.)

Is Mazie the avatar? Bigger would be better. We are all cheerleaders on Team Mazie! You go girl! If you’ve never been a dog person, you may not get how close and personal this is.
-
Rest assured that you have done everything in your power to help her. After that, it’s out of your hands. One of my favorite things about dogs is they never feel sorry for themselves. Certainly better than people in that regard. Hoping you have much better news tomorrow. GO MAZIE!!!
