On my last trip to South Beach I had to point at the menu because I was the only person in sight that spoke English. We got off at the wrong exit once going to an Orange Bowl, and I thought I’d gone thru a wormhole into a Third World Country. I feared for our lives just driving down the road. About a decade ago it became apparent that we would have to relocate to Miami or Atlanta, which I absolutely despise. We live in Atlanta. You know what they say is the best thing about Miami? It’s so close to the United States!

My wife always gets the flu shot, and she gets the flu about every other year. I very rarely get a flu shot (and never on purpose - long story), and I’ve had the flu once since 1992. There! You did it! You made me jinx myself! 😋 Hope you feel better soon! .

I didn’t know the cadaver was extra! We went with hamstring because a cadaver graft is radiated to try to kill anything the donor might have had. This, as I recall per the Doc, weakens it to a small degree and also cannot 100% guarantee it’s clean. The patella we were warned could take a perfectly good body part and mess with it to a point you won’t like it long term. I guess you are one of the unlucky ones, sorry. The hamstring causes the fewest long term lingering issues, and it’s yours. No need to worry about what you just put inside your body. We took him out of state for surgery to a group that does pro athletes, and we thought they were great! On the very same day Tiger Woods had his ACL surgery and we were pleased to hear he used his hamstring. I bet he can afford some good advice. Not that it’s any of my business, but I wonder what graft Von used?

Your worried about the non-comedy film buffs, but you may have just killed some history buffs. 😋 I wonder how long it’s been that way. He might have played on it for years and been just fine (see Thomas, Thurman), or it might have gone at the next practice. We’ll never know, but at least it’s fixed now and reduces the risk of missing all of NEXT year. I propose they welcome him with open arms a few games before the playoffs so he can be a Super Bowl MVP again!

We went thru our son tearing his ACL, and I believe this is accurate. You don’t fix it, you replace it with a graft from a cadaver, your own patella tendon or your hamstring. You can’t just sew it back together. Sucks, I know……

I’ve been looking for a bright side, so how about this? Obviously we want Von all season long. He was great early this year, and next year we will have him for the back of the schedule and the playoffs, and that’s what we really wanted! It’s the best I got at the moment. 🤷‍♂️

We haven’t even seen all of our defense on the field at the same time yet. Losing Von sucks for sure, but we are still good enough to get the job done. The games he helped us win early, especially the KC game, will help us in the playoffs with seeding. Get well Von, can’t wait to get you back.

But they are both in the AFC, and we are trying to make this more of a communal football society. So, maybe? The portal can fix this……. .

Yeah, I don’t know if you can get in trouble for posting what 95% of us are thinking, either. 🤷‍♂️ But talk about being terrible at games….I had a recent spell where people wanted me to guess a ladies age or weight. What? I am NOT kidding! Some games can NOT be won. I know I suck at that, but if I thought I was good at it, I’m still smart enough to keep my mouth shut!

Nothing to add other than thanks for a refreshing big picture view that seems to capture our current situation. Don’t judge by every 3rd down play call or 5th round draft pick. Step back, our present and future are bright.

Ahh, but the grass is always greener, as we know. I bet they have plenty of whiners on any team message board. I like to look at the big picture. We were a team that had not tasted the playoffs for 17 straight years. (You may have heard about this.) Now? With McD and Beane we are a regular SB contender and even a favorite most of this year. We stand 9-3 with the #1 seed in the AFC with a couple insane/for the ages losses. We could, and probably should, be 11-1 right now. But we are not. It is what it is, and we are still currently the #1 seed. There is still a lot of football left to be played. None of us know how this will end, but I like where we sit compared to where we were before the current regime. Talks of win the SB or you should be fired is just craziness and often comes off as unreasonable and a bit immature.

Speaking of KC, Andy Reid was once where everybody else starts - until you win a SB some people want you fired (see Philly). Then, when you don’t win the next SB, the same people will want to fire you again. I’m sure these people are all infallible titans of industry who win every negotiation and struggle with any mere mortals who don’t win every contest. He’s not perfect, nobody is. Especially the whiners who think they can just can him and do better. That was the old way of thinking. See Cleveland. How is that working out?
