  1. While I agree with your premise that this week was probably not the best one to express concerns about the performance, I think you're missing the salient point. OP wasn't complaining about Josh's performance as much as how or OC - Daboll - is forcing that performance. His concern is if Daboll is trying to force Josh to be a QB he's not, and losing some of his special ability as he attempts to fit the round QB into the square QB mold. LBSeeBallLBGetB I don't share @PlayoffsPlease's concerns yet, but I can see where he is coming from. My belief is more along @LBSeeBallLBGetBall's take, that the long game here is to have JA be a successful QB whether through his arm in the modified WC offense, through a longer ball game, or through his legs - depending on what the defense gives him. The focus has been on improving his weakness in reading, reacting, and the quick game. The legs are already there. I hope once the short game is up to snuff they'll return to the long ball but I'm optimistic.
  2. I would have posted almost the exact same comments - thank you. The only part I'll add is a question. So there's no doubt AD makes the Hall of Fame now, right? I mean, one of the top 100 all time. If the vote were held tomorrow, how many here think he is 100%, no-brainer, first ballot entrant?
  3. Henceforth you are known only as A Dean. I, and the rest of the 12th Man, have agreed upon this designation.
  4. Off the beaten path (i.e. fan run not "I'm going to explain how the football works" let's dissect this play Spider XY Banana) -Maybe Next Year (MNY?) -Bills and Beers -The Rockpile Report They are all "fun/fan introspection (listed in order of increasing levels of alcohol-induced raging and ranting) More technical, (i.e. you might learn something or another perspective on why things happen) -The Bills Wire Daily Podcast -The Bills Beat -Buffalo Rumblings (Nick & Nolan and/or Blitzed Bills) -Locked On Bills -Cover 1 | Buffalo In (my opinion) order of least to most technical insight. Not necessarily the order of most technical "correctness" because much is still based on subjectivity, but increasing levels of "technical" explanation of why certain things happened.
  5. This discussion is probably not pertinent to the OP, so I'll apologize in advance for derailing it. However - note that the part of the quote you're referring to was from a different poster. I inadvertently quoted you, largely due to my crappy Afghanistan connection and because of network restrictions the quote button doesn't indicate properly (and I should have proofread better). Especially shouldn't have quoted you since I didn't actually reply to your objection. Mea culpa.
  6. Umm. I think @Thurman#1's point was using his ACTUAL NAME after "The" is a bit ridiculous. Calling Elvis "The King" or John Wayne "The Duke" is completely different from calling them Elvis "The Elvis" Presley or John "The John" Wayne (unless he's busted for visiting a prostitute, but I digress...) That said, "Duke" actually is a nickname (at least in spelling) as his first name is actually D'haquille. So D'haquille "The Duke" Williams would be okay.
  7. No, and I apologize if that is looked at as starting rumors.* It was a poor attempt at humor, tying in "Achilles" and his ankle injury/injuries the past two weeks. *If it does turn out his Achilles tendon is injured I'm going to claim I predicted it first, however.
  8. I'm not sure whether to give you credit for being obstinate, or pity you with the "whoosh" gif. Let's pretend it's the second one, and I'll try and explain. Although the quick judgements for the recent QBs are clearly not the end of the story, the comments on those that entered 2014 and earlier are pretty accurate and damning (minus Teddy, perhaps.) Thus, taken holistically, it is a fair representation on the dearth of good QBs in the league. We tend to lament the poor offensive line influx in recent years. Is it the lack of OL talent, or the lack of QB talent? Or - more likely - do both affect each other?
  9. I was waiting for this. "Some people like strawberry ice cream, some people like banana ice cre..." No they don't.
  10. If the Bills don't win the AFC-E division, then they can't host a wild card team. Not trying to state the obvious here, but a wild card team's only possibility of a home game is if both of them meet in the conference championship (which could, but as yet has never happened.)
  11. If Bill Belichick was only evaluated for his first HC job at Cleveland based on win-loss then we'd be a much happier fanbase right now.
  12. I suppose its a bit of "I know you know" game going on. The defense won't use it until its critical, but they know the offense knows its a critical play, and the offense might decide to try and fool them by changing it on that play... But heck, I'd try jumping on the tap at least once. It would force the offense to get out of rhythm.
  13. Yes - I wrote that in my OP. That wasn't the question I posed; it was reference the lack of changing the timing the entire game.
  14. While watching the All-22 I noticed when JA lined up in shotgun that the RG would check the line for set, and would tap the center just before the snap. You can see some good examples of this in the 1st and 3rd quarters of the all-22 footage because the camera is to the Bills back in those quarters. For example< watch the Bills' first offensive series starting around the 4 minute mark of the all-22 footage. The RG signaling the center that the line is set isn't that unusual; what interested me was the timing of the snap did not seem to vary after the tap for the entire game.I'll have to watch this and see if they're trying to set the opponent's d-line up at some point by delaying the snap to pull an encroachment/Offside. I assume this was their version of the silent snap to combat crowd noise (not that crowd noise was a problem this week.) It was a little concerning that the entire game, probably 70% in shotgun, the timing was tap, half-second delay, snap. If I were a left side d-line/LB I'd key off that at least once.
  15. I think some are missing the salient point here. Even if we only get him for this year - he's $3.3 million we have and we get back the pick we give up PLUS we get a 5th rounder.
  16. I don't think that was a literal who. If Steve Tasker's son moved from CFL to NFL we'd know his famous father too. Doesn't mean I'd know who his son is from a "I care because he's any good as a WR" perspective.
  17. No insult intended in using quotes around reporter. I'm just old and still have troubles labling those who write for a unofficial blog as press. Regardless, a well written and dare I say almost complimentary article. https://www.patsfans.com/patriots/blog/2019/09/29/patriots-prevail-in-buffalo-rock-fight/ Some excerpts: "The Patriots survived a dogged effort by the homestanding Buffalo Bills in front of a raucous crowd in western New York. The Patriots remain undefeated at 4-0, and the defense continues to play at an astounding level. But the Bills’ defense was equal to the task, and if the Bills had an offense that is ready for prime time, they would have won and won easily." "Basically, despite playing well enough on defense to win the game, Buffalo did more to lose this game than the Patriots did to win it. Bills Nation has been lamenting this for many years. They seem to play better, but they just can’t beat the Patriots. If the Red Sox could eventually figure out how to beat the Yankees in the postseason, the Bills will eventually win games like this." "Meanwhile, if Buffalo fans wanted to pelt the Bills with full beer cans at game’s end, shame on them. Sooner or later, the Bills win games like this."
  18. That's almost 1530 (3:30 PM for you civilians) for me. Perfect.
  19. There are plenty of jets fans there that are not only rational, but possibly more optimistic about the Bills than even Bills fans. I.E. Same Old: https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/147052-we-are-still-going-to-the-playoffs/?do=findComment&comment=4203705 "Funny you choose to bad mouth Allen rather than defend Sammy. My post trashed Sammy with stats and facts and you didn't even attempt to defend him. Actually your approach speaks volumes.I think your finally coming around to the realization that the jets drafted the inferior qb." https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/147052-we-are-still-going-to-the-playoffs/?do=findComment&comment=4203930 "FYI, I'm not from Buffalo and I am not a fan of the Bills. Somehow you made that connection because I posted the Bills are a stronger team with the better QB. Both are accurate facts. The Jets are pathetic and Sammy is not a franchise qb. As is the trend the jets blew another high draft pick on the wrong player. Allen was and is the better selection. Live with it." Joe W. Namath: https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/147052-we-are-still-going-to-the-playoffs/?do=findComment&comment=4203934 "At the monent, Allen is light years ahead of Darnold. Hes a much better player. But it is early in there careers. The bills have a very good coach while the jets have gase who is terrible. So yes the bills are a much better team then the jets."
  20. Just FYI, if you don't have access too it already, my Bills video page does have the All-22 in addition to the condensed games. Along the lines of the topic, I tend to agree with the comments that Edmunds' strengths are what the Bills need from him - someone who can stop a screen pass, a short pass to the TE/RB in the flats, or a quick crossing route deom going 15-20 yards instead 3-5. The DTs we have are really supposed to plug the holes for RB runs up the middle, and our outside LBs are the faster tacklers that are charged with the end runs. That's not really Edmunds' main priority. Doesn't mean he can't be better at it, but it's not exactly a liability. You can say that Jerry Hughes could be better at covering a TE or RB in a screen and you'd be correct. But that's not what we really need him to be great at either.
