  1. What's the advantage of CFLs vs LEDs? Where they're made? Certainly not power efficiency or lifespan. LEDs aren't cheap, but if you want a bulb to survive the rigors of a garage door opener or it's in a difficult to reach spot (i.e ceiling above staircase) they're hard to beat. I'm not a light bulb expert, but I'd assume the CFLs of whatever generation can be affected greatly by power fluctuation due to the ballast required to excite the gases. I know some people don't like the LED color spectrum. I find it preferable, and closer to sunlight. I've grown to dislike the "warm"/yellow tint of incandescent.
  2. They have something else in common too. They all have blue eyes.
  3. As a member with both sides of my family coming from North Carolina, I take offense at the implication that Dallas - or any of Texas - is considered "southern." About as much as Mexico, I suppose. Geographically south of the Mason-Dixon, but that's it. And no, I don't want to turn this into a politically or other charged debate about where they stood in antebellum times.
  4. It's learn the correct read and route to run so you don't have to make an acrobatic adjustment to get back to the ball. This plus not having to think as long about what route on the tree allows a receiver to focus more on his play and the development of the defender vs him vs openings on the field..etc. This is why it takes many receivers a few years. They get by on physical talent in college, much like many QBs. It's why rookies aren't often "NFL ready." I think this fundamental misunderstanding is why fans today are so impatient. Sure, some will buck the trend; usually speedsters because you don't have to learn that route. But great possession receivers almost all take time to develop (see Jerry Rice, Steve Largent, Andre Reed.) Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  5. One of two Bills fans in the same section at MacDill AFB (what are the odds?) Hanging tight halfway between Tampa and Orlando... Larger image of below Radar pic of storm as of 2150
  6. Not quite, but over 500 yards of total offense isn't too shabby...
  7. I love the fans looking around after that spot like "what do you mean a call went against us?"
  8. Dropped then back with KC? Not surprising. CJ's strengths always were in cuts and returns. Thank you, I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  9. I certainly hope so Peterman *isn't* starting at any time this year. Note my first post. Again, *IF* Peterman is forced into action, I think we see some significant TE, and specifically Clay. At least one week, until other teams get film and recognize the rookie is a rookie... Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  10. Charles Clay had 77 and 87 targets in his first two seasons with the Bills. He had six in the first half alone after Peterman took over, and came down with all but 1. While that amount may not be the norm, even if he only sees six in the whole game that's already a marked increase in targets. About half of those were outside where we'd expect similar situations with T2 under center, but there were a few in the seam where Peterman appeared to be more comfortable. By the way - not advocating for Peterman over Taylor. Where Taylor has his problems down the middle, Peterman appeared to throw more to the Ravens' D-line on outside passes than to Bills players. Of course, as discussed in other threads that's at least 50% on Oline not punching out and low on three step drop plays. Anyhow - given the WR woes, nice to see Clay being used as the big but athletic target he is. Now let's just hope his knee holds up.
  11. Seems like our 2017 version of Brandon Spikes. Tough against the run and a sure tackler that is limited in mid range pass defense. Red zone or short yardage use right now for depth. Once he gets another year in rehab and some faith in the knee (it takes time for you to believe you can use it fully) and then we'll see if he has the agility and speed we want. 12. That's good. Finally. However, It's still cheaper if you can use the college student option. (Well, - total cost of ownership is a hell of a lot more expensive when you factor in the cost of school, but you know what I mean.)
  13. Well, there are two ways to get (semi)legitimate live NFL Sunday Ticket games to online devices (i.e. computer, phone, tablet, probably Roku though I haven't tried - just not "direct" to your TV): 1. VPN through a non-US country. You can sign up and pay but you have to log in each week while connected to the VPN coming from a non-US. a, I first signed up while deployed, and was auto-renewed. Found out that although I'd been charged (albeit at a returning customer discount) I couldn't watch! VPN through Canada et voila! b. Once you've logged in and have the game list, you can disconnect from the VPN. If the VPN is any good and allows high data rates, it's easier to just stay connected. However, if your VPN is limiting your data rate, you can disconnect after logging in and selecting you game. c. The quality is as good or better than watching the games via most cable providers if your Internet access is good enough. At the highest data rates, it definitely equals or exceeds the HD quality of cable with all the compression they add. Nothing beats over the air HD of course. 2. Sign up after verifying you are a student at a college/university. a. Cheaper than purchasing from non-US live or in US NFL Replay b. They ask for your school, name, and birthdate online to instantly verify you are a student. c. You do NOT have to use (or have) a school email. d. the credit card does NOT have to be the name of the student e. I don't know how the verification works. I signed my daughter up this way with her legit school and her name/birth date and the web site said good to go, then proceeded to ask me for an email address to use, and payment information. f. She is signed up now, but I haven't used this one yet, so can't vouch for quality. However you can pay $99 for NFL GamePass or $149 for GamePass plus the replay options.
  14. Ok, just bought the 2x sauce/1x rub sampler. We'll see if it's better than my high acidity/low vinegar eastern North Carolina style. More to follow...
  15. And Russians are red, and fire trucks are always rushin' so I guess I was mistaken. Of course that's misdisunregarding my comment about it not being an American English word. Which is repetitive, not mention redundant, since history shows us we spoke it first, then the Brits stole it once they stopped speaking Irish. Really mind bottling. Logorrhea. And I'm sticking with T. Henry, although if we go by jerseys owned its EMo. Normally more jerseys <> under rated, but as a typical Bills fan, I always purchase the jerseys of the players that aren't the national figures (Poz, EMo, the backler/Whiffner, Fast Freddie, etc.)
  16. English teachers in Buffalo are apparently underrated DROUGHT. "a prolonged absence of something specified." Not draught. Which isn't even an American English word. Anyhow - on topic - I'd list Byrd (Butch, in case there was a question), Ballard and Travis Henry. Byrd averaged more INTs than Deion Sanders, almost 6/year. What I wouldn't give for a DB to get us 6 INTs/year right now! I'm not a fan of Schobel, so I'm biased. Interestingly in the first 50 years of the Bills only two players had back-to-back double digit sack seasons - Smith and Schobel. In the last 5 years we've had two more.
  17. The truest statement I've read on this board. Any BBQ that needs sauce to make it taste good is just cheap meat. Suck it, Texas and KC.
  18. Luke Tasker is in the CFL as well. Made the CFL All-Star team a couple seasons ago in Hamilton.
