Veteran QB: It all comes down to FOLES / MCCARRON!
PolishDave replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why does McCarron have to be our starter for the next few years if signed? Jets signed McCown for one year for $10 million. Cardinals signed Bradford for one year for $20 million. Who is to say the Bills can't sign McCarron on a one year deal for money somewhere in between those two? McCarron hasn't proven anything in this league yet -except that he is a capable backup. -
Bills Re-Sign Kyle Williams To One Year Deal

Didn't McDermott coach the guy? If he doesn't absolutely positively want the guy here - would Beane even bother? You are worrying about something you shouldn't in my opinion. -
Bills Re-Sign Kyle Williams To One Year Deal
PolishDave replied to dgr81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It just makes sense. That's also probably why it is a one year deal. They know he is close to being done. High percentage chance this next year is his last. He is going to set the tone and be used as an example of what every drafted player should aspire to become. Maybe that is worth the money. Maybe not. This staff seems to think it is. -
Bills Re-Sign Kyle Williams To One Year Deal
PolishDave replied to dgr81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I bet you they are partially okay with paying him that for his presence in the locker room (his effect on rookies) and his embodiment of everything they are trying to establish in this team. That is probably worth a couple million right there. This staff is BIG on "team" and unselfishness. That is Kyle Williams to a T. -
Outstanding! Buy stock in them when they go public. They will disrupt the industry big time. Hope they come to Buffalo soon. And others based on similar business models.

The article starts out pretty good but starts twisting into an opinionated piece rather than an objective one. The guy says "The money itself is worthless. Less than worthless, in fact." Anyone who claims Bitcoin is worthless right now is ignoring reality. That is not opinion. That is fact. They may as well make the claim that dollars and Euros are worthless too. And we all know they are not. Any one of those three (US dollars, Euros, Bitcoins) might end up worthless someday. That is probably inevitable. But none of them are currently worthless. And Bitcoin certainly is not worthless when there are currently millions of people willing to trade you approximately $9,000 US dollars for one Bitcoin. If and when the price of Bitcoin goes to zero - well then yes it will be worthless. And it probably will do that someday - maybe this year - maybe a thousand years from now. And it is also possible - even just as likely if not more likely - that the value of it goes to $50,000 US dollars or $100,000 or $1,000,000 before it goes to zero. That is why it is risky. The author's line of thinking is the same as newly invented buggy whip manufacturers choosing not to bother making buggy whips because someday a new vehicle "the automobile" would come along and render the buggy whips for carriage and buggy owners nearly obsolete. Meanwhile - actual intelligent entrepreneurs manufactured them and profited from it for (I don't know) a thousand years or more perhaps? Who was the smart one - the guy who decided to make hay while the sun was shining or the guy who said - I am not going to bother making hay because some day it is going to rain again?

****On another note I always thought there was demand in the market for a franchise that sells vehicles on consignment based on average market sale price. They then charge a small percentage commission to the seller and the buyer for facilitating the transaction. Maybe such a place exists? If it does.I am unaware of it. Seems like a superior way to facilitate the exchange of those types of goods. And have the franchise offer a lemon law guarantee that goes back against the original owner. And it would completely eliminate the perception of getting screwed over by a cunning car salesman. Everyone pays average market price determined by the franchise - not the buyer or seller.

I am no expert but I can comment on a couple things that I have seen. 1) They know you don't want to sell your own car and they use that to their advantage. 2) The make it seem as though you are getting more for your car by offering you more off the price of whatever car you are interested in buying. Which is why in my opnion you are better off not offering a trade in at all and just making the deal on the car. Once the deal is done you can then ask what they would give you if you did decide to trade it in. Then you are getting a more realistic price. In my experience, in that situation, they are going to offer you about 1/2 the price of what they are going to relist the vehicle for on their lot. If they offer you $8,000 they are probably going to relist the car (after detailing it and mechanically replacing whatever needs replacing) for somewhere in the neighborhood of $16,000. I am sure there is a lot of leeway one way or the other depending on the scenario. I am just commenting on what I have seen done personally in the past.

Why did he leave us here all alone? He searched the NFL over and thought he found a quarterback But someone else traded up and pffft he was gone.

Was The Tyrod Taylor Era a Success?
PolishDave replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moderately successful but not good enough. -
No you're not. If you were you wouldn't have chimed in with the ridiculous comment that keeping the QB who led the Bills to their first playoff game in 17 years was a mistake. You are capable of much better takes. I have seen them. This take belongs on your shitlist because that is what it is a shittake. In my opinion, the Bills are moving on from Taylor at the right time.

So... Is A.J. McCarron Back in play?
PolishDave replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Question: Do you think AJ McCarron is likely an upgrade over Peterman? That's a rhetorical question. So upgrading the QB position is a bad idea? Because right now we have 1 really bad qb on the team and 1 special teamer who plays QB occasionally. If AJ can't beat out whatever rookie they draft, then he sure as hell makes a better backup and mentor than (record number of picks Peterman) does. -
So McDermott's biggest mistake in his 1st year was making the playoffs? If that is considered a mistake, I can't wait to see his successes. Sooo peeerrr booooowl Sooo peeeerrrr booooowl!

Dear Brian Daboll, -Do you stink as an OC?
PolishDave replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would you allow yourself to get so down about a guy before he has had a chance to show you what he's got? Masochist? Don't you owe it to yourself to at least try to keep an open mind - at least until he proves he is a lousy coach if he is in fact one? -
Is Josh Rosen really the QB that the Bills covet?
PolishDave replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my opinion every trait about a QB is diminished in the eyes of McDermott except 1) work ethic/process 2) ability 3) character The rest of the traits are negligible positives (not enough to move the needle) in the eyes of this staff. -
Yes. Thanks for the info. Didn't see that.

Speculation: McCarron Lands in WNY
PolishDave replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And if you watch what limited game film there is with McCarron starting, he appears every bit as good as Dalton - but younger. Nobody really knows this guy's upside. It is a guess. -
It will be interesting to see how Todd Haley intends to use him and what type of offense they are going to trot out. Will it be built around Tyrod? What does this suggest about the type of QB they are going to draft? Lamar Jackson later in the draft? Are they even going to draft a QB now or run with Tyrod and the ND NFL flunkie?
-
I'd be giddy, happy and stoked if whoever the BIlls get ends up being an elite passing QB within a couple years and continues playing at an elite level for the next 15 years. I don't care whose name is on the Jersey if that happens. I'm so done with this team if - they ever move out of Buffalo or if ownership changed to a person who I consider to be a worthless human being.

So... Is A.J. McCarron Back in play?
PolishDave replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's not why people want him. It is because we haven't seen his upside potential yet. He could be the next Kirk Cousins for all anyone knows. That is why. If you watch the playing time he did get, it is very likely he was pushing Dalton for the starting position. It is hard to unseat an incumbent unless your play is much, much better. Nobody knows what his upside really is. That is the most interesting part about him. He might never be better than Dalton. Or, he might be a rising start about to get his chance to prove it. I am guessing McCown can be had for even less than $7 million. And if nobody offers McCarron a long term deal (which looks like is going to be the case with Cleveland out of the running now) then I suspect he might take a very short term prove it deal with the Bills. I think the Bills should take a shot at McCarron if they don't plan on drafting either Rosen or Mayfield. If they are planning on Rosen or Mayfield, then a guy like Josh McCown makes a lot of sense as a day 1 backup. -
Josh Rosen has to be the target!

While we are all rejoicing here.........
PolishDave replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have draft picks #1 and #4 which should translate into 2 excellent players if they draft well. The Browns are going to the playoffs. Everyone is going to be like "WTF? How did they get so good in one year?"
