This thread is dumb. You're whining about whining. Quit your whining. -
We didn't make all those trades not to draft a QB

This Wkipedia article explains it well. This http//www.wikipedia.com/the_process_in_football/ also explains it well -

I don't think you understand what McDermott meant when he used the phrase "the process". -
OL: Current Roster/FA/Draft
PolishDave replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Isaiah Wynn - G Frank Ragnow - C Either one could be targets depending on how long they last in the draft. If the Bills don't upgrade the line significantly going into the season, then the offensive line will likely be the weakest link on the team. And that usually ends poorly. -
I disagree. The potential is there for a rookie to be ruined if he is not ready to run the offense at the professional "NFL" level. Peterman might end up being an example of this. It is incredibly hard to come back from the deficit Peterman is in now because of his label as "ultimate Pick thrower". (At least as a Buffalo Bill it will be.) He was thrown in before he was ready and he sucked - record setting sucked. Because of that, his leash is a lot shorter than it otherwise probably would have been. Coaches will be afraid to play him unless he looks far superior to whoever he is competing against. And his NFL tape now looks like crap for the rest of the league to see. Might have ruined his career. Even if his ultimate ceiling was just going to be "a decent backup" in the NFL, he is more likely to end up out of the NFL sooner than he otherwise would because of his wretched play. That is of course unless he starts playing truly superior football. He has a much bigger hill to climb now than he would have if he had sat the bench all year - or just played mop up duty. Same thing could happen to another rookie - even one with higher perceived potential than Peterman had coming into the NFL.

Browns offered a 2nd and 3rd round pick for McCarron
PolishDave replied to 0017's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will be even sadder if AJ McCarron turns out to be a better Qb than Tyrod is. Then Cleveland really will have screwed the pooch again. They are so sad, you really have to wonder how they are going to use those high draft picks. It's hard to imagine they could screw it up, but it is Cleveland. Maybe whoever they pick with the first overall pick ends up busting. Maybe pick 1 and 4 bust. Thank god it's them and not us. -
I say we will not draft a QB round 1
PolishDave replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I say it depends on whether the guy they really want is still there when they get to pick. If their QB is gone, I don't think they just settle for the "next best guy" and draft him with the first pick. I think they will have a plan B - the second best guy on their board and go get him. Or perhaps they surprise the crap out of us and end up trading down because they missed their guy and don't want to overdraft a different guy. But right now I think they fully intend to go get the guy they really want. Their Buffalo careers mostly depend on it. -
Why are you trying to make this thread about Tyrod? This comment is better placed in one of the other 2 million Tyrod threads.
-
Thanks. (I'm out of thank you's and likes for the day because I spent way too much time here today.)

Jet's gave McCown $10 million for one year. Bradford got $20 million. I assumed McCarron would be somewhere in between - probably closer to the middle based on the demand for QB's who don't totally suck. Bills got a screaming deal in my opinion.
-
Damn cheap. I thought for sure this would be in the $15 million per year ballpark as it is only for 2 years. Great work Mr. Beane!
-
I see. Interesting. I got my pitchfork. Who is with me? Hyahh! They may take our honor on the playing field, but they will never take.......our BILLS BOARD!!!!!! HusaaaaaahhH!!

You're eating too many figs Figster. Sober up.

Who cares? Are you a Pats fan? How about a little camaraderie? Come on man. Pat's can suck it! Whoooooo!

If Allen is really the guy they want then so be it. I am convinced that AJ McCarron means absolutely zilch to their decision on who to draft. I could be wrong. I am just saying my conviction about that is extremely high. Not that that matters. I think the Bills still draft whoever they wanted before they signed McCarron. The QB position is going to make or break McDermott and Beane as employees of the Buffalo Bills. They will get whoever they think is the best possible guy they can get as long as that guy is still there wherever they draft.
-
I am guessing right around there. Maybe a little more.

On a side note. Skynyrd is having yet another farewell tour this year I believe. Their first farewell tour was back in the 80's. You can't kill freebird.
-
Why can't it just be that the Bills wanted to sign the best veteran pocket passer they could sign who was within their price range? Ya know, so that they can try to win next year while also building for the future through the draft? Doesn't that line of thinking make more sense as opposed to them wanting to settle for a guy who is going to take 2 years? They aren't going to know how "ready" the rookie is going to be to start until after they have seen him in training camp.

Now get off my f**king lawn!

That is easy to say - When you start in the bottom of the gutter - the only direction is up.

Potential to set a new NFL record for picks? Wait.... He already did that I think.

Peterman won't play special teams. So Rosen, McCarron and Webb.
