  1. Didn't we have a player on the fringe of the roster who shared something he shouldn't (maybe something from the playbook?) and then was cut a day later? I have a hazy memory of something along those lines happening.
  2. That year? Many of those experts were speculating that we were one of the worst teams of all time (particularly after a player quit at halftime). The discussion for THAT year was if we were better than Alabama. So yeah, going 6-10 that year was impressive.
  3. Last I checked, cruel and unusual punishment is still prohibited by the constitution.
  4. I just heard Josh Norman on Le Batard's podcast. When asked to name the toughest receivers he has gone up against, he named Diggs first and said it was because he was such an incredible route runner and would study corners and set them up. (Btw, the next receive he mentioned was Beasley and said he is the best slot receiver in the game.)
  5. I just checked. You are right it was indeed 6.5 points. That surprises me because it seemed the general national consensus was that the Bills would be in that 7 and 9 to 9 and 7 range. I guess it was just that everyone knew the Jets were THAT bad.
  6. Yeesh. Anyone able to check the last time we were a touchdown favorite on opening day? That's a lot for a first game, particularly against a team that was a division winner last year.
  7. Wasn't George Castanza's fake employer Vanderhoes industries? (SAY VANDERHOES!!)
  8. Are we in for a re-enactment? Gabe Davis in the Don Beebe role? Okay...I know this was week 2, but it was Sept 8th, so pretty close: https://www.buffalobills.com/video/sep-8-1991-beebe-s-4-td-s-vs-steelers-13188355
  9. I think the Browns are good, but I am not completely convinced. They are very similar to us last year...playoff birth with the benefit of a very easy schedule. Now they are entering the "prove it" year. We did...but I am still waiting to see with Cleveland.
  10. That sounds like a Beane move. In free agency his strategy has seemed to be to sign a ton of guys with upside, but questions. Hopes some will work out and the others he cuts loose.
  11. Has anyone heard about Allen's offseason work this year? It seems we always get reports about working with Palmer or working with receivers, and I haven't heard anything this year. It's probably because there is less focus since he has made it....but I just worry slightly that he is losing that chip on that shoulder and not trying as hard to progress.
  12. Coastal Carolina was pretty good: Z. Wilson 19-30, 240 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT
  13. I think that would make it tempting to pick up the option. I admittedly do not understand the nuances of NFL contracts, but I remember discussion that the big money on Mahomes contract would not kick in until the extension started (so after his rookie deal runs out). If that is the case, and the Bills pick up Josh's 5th year option, that mean the new big money 2nd contract would kick in during the 2023 season...the season that there is a big jump in the cap due to the new TV contract. That would seem to make sense.
  14. Maybe they should have Bruce Smith talk to players about the importance of vaccination.
  15. Okay...different topic...but watching this video I find it remarkable how often (and how well) Allen lofts the ball. He drops the ball in to receivers on the sidelines really well. That was something he didn't do at all his rookie year, was improved his second year, but then during his third year he seems to do it more often than firing that laser down field (at least based on this video). Really impressive.
  16. Thanks for this. I have been curious why his numbers don't match his athletic ability...and while I have seen many reference the athletics and others the numbers, I haven't seen much discussion about why there is a disconnect. This description makes him sound a bit like an edge version of Edmunds.
  17. I thought the consensus was that we got the wrong Josh. Yes, some (like Kiper) had him #1...even the best in years...others said he was inaccurate and accuracy can't be taught and was a waste of a pick in the early rounds...polar opposite opinions. He really could not be polarizing unless some thought he was the best prospect.
  18. Seems greedy. Only gave a second rounder to get him, and I don't think his value has appreciated.
  19. I think part of the brilliance of the Josh Allen move is that the Bills had anticipated that they could get a QB with the pieces he had. They accumulated pieces....like moving up by trading Cordy Glen to be in striking range of the top 10...and in a year that there were so many QB prospects. Sure, Darnold has not worked out to this point (though not sure he is a complete bust YET), and Baker is iffy, but there were teams that believed in them, so there was less demand for Allen. Even the right Josh had Arizona believing in him, so they weren't desperate to move ahead of the Bills. Imagine what you would have to pay to pick a QB like Allen (even with all the question marks) in a year like the one where the Bills drafted EJ. So, what is needed to move up and draft a guy who COULD be the franchise QB is not only dependent on the quality of the player, but also the quality of the other options....as well as how many teams are desperate to pick a QB.
