Bills players you disliked
Brandon replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doug Flutie. I couldn't stand his attitude and I definitely enjoyed watching what a winner he was in San Diego without the Bills D carrying him. Aaron Maybin. As someone said earlier, this isn't entirely fair, as it's not his fault that the Bills picked him where they did and ahead of Orakpo. -
Its an ugly stat line, I agree, but I don't think the stat line tells the full story. We're probably having a much different conversation if Brown and Diggs had made those 1st half catches in the endzone that hit them in the hands. I'm not saying that's all their fault, the Chiefs DBs were all over them, but I'm not going to pretend that Allen didn't give them a chance to make those plays.

B-/C+. Not as bad as the stat line. He did miss a few early passes as well as one to Cole Beasley in the third quarter that was particularly ugly, but the Bills WRs dropped a few early, too, and the Chiefs D broke up a couple of deep throws in the endzone that were on the money and should have been TDs. I don't care about the desperation time INT at the end. Mix in bad weather and a relentless Chiefs pass rush and I don't think this game was as bad as it seemed for Allen.

Josh Allen - week FIVE report card
Brandon replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C+/B-. My only serious gripe with his performance in this game was the 2nd interception. I'm not going to pick the rest of it apart. Could have been better, could have been worse. I thought he played decently and I do think John Brown's absence affected him and the rest of the offense. Likewise, I think its asking a bit much to expect a 3rd year QB to carry the team every week without the occasional bad game. Its going to happen once in a while. -
A few thoughts about the Titans game, in no particular order
Brandon replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense definitely needs to step it up two or three notches, but with multiple starters out, including both starting corners, I'm not surprised they played poorly tonight. But you're right, they likely can't sustain these types of defensive performances over the course of a full season. -

Its a bad game. It happens. Even the Super Bowl era teams got blown out at least once a year during meaningful regular season games. Just forget about it and move on to the next one. -
Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia
Brandon replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, he's a good player. Very smart and accurate, if somewhat limited by borderline arm strength. Considering what they're asking of him, he's a great value in the 5th and good insurance if Allen misses time to injury. -

I'm not telling you that he's the next John Elway. Rather, I think he's a guy you can count on to come in for two or three games if needed, not doing anything stupid, and game-manage his way into wins. -

He's a smart, accurate QB who reads defenses well, played at a high level for several years in a major conference and is known as a good worker and team leader. I think his arm is fine, especially considering that they're asking him to be a backup. Its a good pick in R5. -

I like it. They need a good backup QB. -

I'd be very tempted to do the same. -
Who Is Your Least Favorite Bill of All Time ... and Why?
Brandon replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No contest...Doug Flutie. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that he's well in the running for my most disliked player on any team in any sport. I absolutely can't stand him. -
About 90%. He's rough around the edges, but the Bills knew he was going to be a project going into it. He's shown significant improvement compared to last year and has improved over the course of this season. They were also counting on Zay Jones to be his go-to possession receiver and that turned out to be a big miss. Robert Foster hasn't repeated his success of last year, either. Despite that, Allen is playing pretty well. He has room for improvement, but they're winning. He has accounted for 29 TDs. Go get him another quality target or two this offseason, keep building the OL, and lets see where we are a year or two from now.

Young QBs, even good ones, usually have issues with turning the ball over and making stupid plays for a while. Peyton Manning threw 28 INTs as a rookie. Brett Favre fumbled 26 times in his first two seasons in Green Bay. Josh Allen may or may not make it, but this type of stuff is not uncommon.

Skimming over it, its a pretty narrow ruling that allows the lawsuit to proceed only on the grounds that Remington may have triggered an exception in the PLCAA related to state laws regulating marketing practices. -
Not to any great degree. The first time I saw the stat line, I thought he was going to be a flop, but once I sat down and actually watched some of his college games, it was readily apparent why he was considered a high pick. Everyone talks about the accuracy issue, but I never saw him as inherently inaccurate. He was inconsistent, but he didn't have much help, either. When #7 came up, I was still a slight lean toward Rosen as the 'safer' pick, but I was not disappointed that they took Allen at all. That being said, he was better than I expected him to be as a rookie, especially on an offense largely devoid of talent. He's already a decent player. Now we just need to see if he can clean up the rough edges in his game and take the next step.

I'm definitely not ready to say Allen is going to have the same kind of career, but from what I've seen...the arm, the mobility, the good plays, the dumb plays...he reminds me a whole hell of a lot of Brett Favre in his first or second year in Green Bay.

Rosen angry 1st 9 teams did not take him...vows revenge
Brandon replied to mileena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought he was the best overall prospect of the bunch, but with some of the things Rosen says and does, no, I'm not upset at all that they picked Allen instead. -
Some Info to Worry Less About Josh Allen's Inaccuracy
Brandon replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he completes one more pass per game, he's a 60%+ passer. Somehow, I doubt that a difference of one pass completion per game is going to make or break him. That's not to say that he doesn't need to work on his accuracy, but that the completion percentage stuff is kind of overblown. -
Is it fair to judge Josh Allen based on tweets?
Brandon replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its worth asking him and his teammates and coaches about, but I think its likely not a major issue and can be chalked up to a high school kid saying something he shouldn't have and probably regrets now. It happens. -
Emergency Team Meeting - Regarding Trump comments?
Brandon replied to boater's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think I'm through with it. Like you, its been losing my interest for some time, but if the league front office is going to choose sides here and allow the NFL to become a political advocacy forum, I'm out. I watch sports to get away from that garbage. -

That's pretty much how I see it. They can use it as a political platform if they want, but that doesn't mean I have to watch.
