  1. My impression was that the Pats more or less accomplished what they wanted to do and controlled a low scoring, foul weather game. The fact that they only bothered throwing the ball three times seems to bear that out.
  2. Watching that play again several times, Davis was just as open as Beasley was, and in order to hit Beasley, he'd have to throw right through the blitzer that was bearing down on him. Given that, the decision to go to Davis was likely the correct one and in normal weather conditions, I think it's a TD probably 8 times out 10. Unfortunately, in these conditions, either the wind caught it or Allen otherwise threw an inaccurate pass. But I can't fault the decision at all.
  3. They probably are a top 5 overall roster, but they still have pretty clear weaknesses that are leaving them vulnerable to teams that are capable of exposing those weaknesses.
  4. Putting any air under passes thrown in that direction was a pretty tall order.
  5. It seems to me to be relatively straightforward. They're one dimensional. The front office lost their gamble on the RBs stepping up this year, and at the same time, an average interior OL from last year has regressed significantly this season. They keep trying to establish the run on first down and their inability to do so is putting Allen and the passing game in unfavorable down and distance situations. Several first down runs by Moss were particularly ineffective last night and it took the Bills far too long to realize it. There's not much they can do about it for the rest of this season, except to substitute short passes and screens for a running game. In the off-season, they need to make major investments in the guards and RBs.
  6. Yeah, I agree. The defender made a nice play on a couple of those. The only one that was uncontested was the first one, and that one would have been a difficult catch. Disappointing, but doesn't change my opinion that he's becoming a good player for them.
  7. They can't run the ball and they can't stop the run. Its hardly surprising that they'd lose a game in conditions like this. That being said, I feel like they'd have probably won the damn game if they'd put the ball in Allen's hands more than they did. Too many first down runs for minimal yardage, in particular, put the offense in bad situations all night. Ultimately, that's on Daboll. Sure, I understand that conditions were awful for passing, but Allen and the passing game were the only thing that was somewhat successful tonight.
  8. Verdict is in: Not Guilty on all counts. I've been reading along but have refrained from commenting. I think the jury absolutely reached the correct verdict.
  9. He was on pace for nearly 500 carries this season, not even counting receptions. It's unfortunate, but what did they expect?
  10. It didn't help matters, but the offense still put up 31 points. They lost this game because the defense was completely ineffective after the first quarter.
  11. Nothing weird about it. Allen just missed Diggs and threw it behind him. It was still close enough that Diggs got both hands on it, but it would have been a tough catch.
  12. Nah. I don't have an issue with the penalty call, but I don't think he was trying to throw a shoulder or hit him in the head. I don't think there was any ill intent. It's just one of those things that happens sometimes.
  13. Well, he IS a 7th round pick. I'm not saying he's HOF material or anything, just that he seems like a nice developmental guard here in R7. As far as his athleticism is concerned, I'm basing that solely on a cursory look at his pro day numbers, which seem to lean much more positive than not. Now maybe that doesn't translate to the field, but at least it suggests there might be something there the Bills coaches can work with.
  14. On the bright side, it could have been worse. They could have had the Bucs QBs from 1977.
  15. I'll admit to thinking Erik Flowers was going to be pretty good. The rest of that mess? Not so much. My worst Bills take has to be thinking that Rob Johnson was going to be good. Well, he almost was, except I wasn't expecting that he had the absolute worst pocket presence of any QB I've ever seen in my life and worse, the front office made no attempt to put a decent OL in front of him to even try to compensate.
  16. I'd rather the GM stick to his board than reach for need. I've seen enough of that with guys like Maybin, John McCargo and Travares Tillman over the years.
  17. Feleipe Franks. You can either let him compete with Fromm or move him to TE.
  18. On paper, this seems like a really good pick. He's a four year starter in a major conference, is fairly athletic for an OG, and grades out well in pass protection.
  19. Him or Maryland RB Jake Funk. Good speed, but again, better name.
  20. I'm guessing Kary Vincent and some small college CB no one has ever heard of.
  21. Close enough. At least it's a WR with some speed. Don't know anything about him, but he was fairly productive.
  22. Shi Smith still on the board? If so, I'll go with that again. Granted, the Bills seem to be leaning heavily toward BPA over need, so who knows.
  23. The talent isn't going to get better, but the value very well might. It's the same reason any team trades down.
  24. For the Bills to trade out so early, I think it says something of their opinion of the available talent at that pick. Either that, or they're stockpiling picks hoping to trade for a veteran or two.
  25. Not my first choice, but I'm not going to complain if they want to throw picks at their lines.
