  1. The Bills have been trying to win with defense for the vast majority of the last 30 years, with very limited success. That includes the #1 defense in yards and points getting steamrolled for 42 by KC in the playoffs after the 2021 season. Or the 2003 and 2004 seasons, with top 2 defenses by yards allowed, with the Bills finishing 15-17, including an embarrassing 29 points allowed to Pittsburgh's backups with a chance at the playoffs on the line. Five straight years starting in 1996 with top 10 defenses in terms of yards allowed, missing the playoffs twice, first round exits three times. This team is very creative. They've thoroughly proven that there are multiple ways to lose.
  2. From everything I've seen, Coleman isn't much, but yeah, I think Shavers is worse.
  3. Looks like a TD catch to me, but it IS a KC game. They won't overturn it.
  4. He didn't just forget how to play. I think it's much more likely that he doesn't trust his receivers and/or his pass protection and it's affecting his play.
  5. No. Or he wasn't at the start of that last drive, anyway.
  6. Hairston and Hoecht have played well.
  7. Yeah, I think he's frustrated and not trusting the guys he's throwing to.
  8. Oh come on now. It's clearly the fault of the guy who has been playing at an all pro level for five years now, not the bargain bin guys they've brought in to throw to.
  9. There was absolutely nothing open on that last play for Allen.
  10. I suspect that he just doesn't trust the guys he's throwing to.
  11. Trying to find some way to get him involved. That hit just about knocked him back to FSU.
  12. To my recollection, they're not that similar. Moulds' timed speed probably wasn't much faster, mid 4.5s or so, but otherwise, he was freakishly athletic. Instant acceleration and short area quickness to generate separation, elite contact balance, play strength, and general RAC ability, with good enough on field speed to be a vertical threat downfield. And he played with an attitude to match. I don't think Keon rises much above average in any of those areas and maybe isn't even that in a couple. In fairness to Keon, though, that's a tough comparison for anyone to win. There is no doubt in my mind that Eric Moulds is the most talented WR the Bills have had in the 35 or so years I've been watching football. It's not particularly close, either.
  13. https://www.nfl.com/news/bills-gm-brandon-beane-josh-allen-pretty-pumped-we-drafted-wr-keon-coleman I'm not blaming Allen at all, but it sounds like he may have had some influence. Regardless, that pick is 100% on Beane.
  14. If memory serves, Beane asked Allen which WR he wanted and Allen said Coleman. I think Beane confirmed that in one of the post draft press conferences.
  15. Agreed, and I said it at the time, but this is why the QB should not have direct influence over draft picks.
  16. Moulds didn't have Josh Allen throwing the ball to him those first two years, either. Jim Kelly had a really rough first half to 1996, leading to his retirement at the end off the season. Then it got worse, with Todd Collins, Alex Van Pelt and Billy Joe Hobert starting games at QB in 1997.
  17. It's not hindsight if my position has been consistent from the 2024 draft process until now. I was sold on drafting McConkey for about a month prior to the draft.
  18. Most of them also predicted that he'd run in the 4.6s at the combine, too, because stereotypical slow white slot guy. I remember also saying that it was more important to draft someone that can actually play in the NFL as the first priority, as opposed to trying to force a lumbering tree just because people wanted a guy that was tall.
  19. Yeah, they do. They can easily clear enough money to trade for Olave if they want. They still have contracts they can restructure that would put them close to $20m under this year. Next year, they could clear $60m+ if they wanted, plus Olave would get a long term contract extension that would cut that $15m for 2026 roughly in half. So yes, they can do it, assuming they actually want to.
  20. Keon's RAS score breaks down pretty similar to Isaiah Hodgins, with similar strengths and weaknesses by those metrics. That's not to say they're the same guy, but it's still somewhat interesting. https://ras.football/ras-information/?PlayerID=25172&ovl=Florida+State https://ras.football/2020/02/09/isaiah-hodgins-ras/
  21. I think they'd run a 5TE offense if they thought they could get away with it. The priority skill among the boundary WRs seems to be blocking ability.
  22. I agree to some extent, but the value of the 40 time is to confirm what you see on the field. Sometimes a player will play faster or slower than they time. In Keon's case, though, his 4.6+ 40 and below average 10/20 yard splits confirm the pre-draft evaluation...speed and separation were an issue in college and very likely would be in the NFL. And that seems to be the case.
  23. Jackson Hawes provides more versatility and is an excellent run blocker in his own right.
