It's going about as I expected so far and I never thought they'd make any major FA additions. If they can re-sign Daquan Jones and find a decent starting safety at a bargain price, I'll consider it a success from here.

The money saved this year is spread out over the remaining life of the contract (including this year). The main downside is that it increases the cap hit in future years. Its possible to keep doing it every year as long as the amounts being pushed into future years are less than the annual salary cap increases.

I would expect a contract extension for Taron Johnson as well. He's on the last year of his contract and has a current year cap hit over $12M.

I expect them to sign a competent veteran as a stopgap and then draft one in the 1st round, with another in the mid rounds.

Disappointing, but I'm never terribly surprised when the league front office screws the Bills on compensatory picks. I'm just glad it wasn't a 7th.

Aside from restructurings, it seems likely that they're going to need to do something with Taron Johnson's contract. I expect them to announce a contract extension soon.

Again, depending on the contract, I like it. If he has to play, at least there's some talent there to work with. At worst, he should be better than Kyle Allen.

Depending on the contract structure...and I expect it's team friendly...I do like this signing and it's one I expected. He's young, he's been in the system for a year, plays aggressively (maybe a bit too much) and I thought he played pretty well later in the season before the injury.

On the other had, it's still a lot of money. Had the Bills released him instead, I doubt he gets that type of deal anywhere else.

It's sounds like they turned a big chunk of his base salary into incentives. For now, it's a pay cut, but with the opportunity to make it all back plus some.

I wasn't aware of that provision of his contract. That probably explains why he's still on the roster.

I'd rather they kept him as well, but Bates has been in the organization for awhile. They know what he is. Their mistake with Wyatt Teller is that they gave up after his rookie year and didn't give him a chance to develop.

To the rest of the league, he's just a backup OG. Maybe he's worth more to the Bills, but the value they got is more than fair for what he is.

A high 5th is as good as we could reasonably expect. This is the type of trade that usually nets a 7th or a swap of late picks. I wish they could have kept him, but they did well to get as much as they did.

Yeah, I'd much rather they retain Morse and keep that starting group together as long as they can. For once, they finally had a pretty good OL...I don't want to see them immediately start tearing it apart.

I think this greatly increases the odds that they retain Morse. They'd likely want to have a veteran C on the roster, even if they drafted a rookie fairly early. Of course, they could dump Morse and sign a cheaper veteran, but if you're going to do that, you may as well keep Bates.

Maybe he's worth more than that to the Bills, but in terms of trade value, I think a high 5th is as good as you could ever expect for a reserve veteran OL with a somewhat pricey contract.

It's hard to say at this stage, but I do expect the DL talent, particularly the depth, to drop off some this year.

If I'm reading this right, this looks more like game attendance than individual meetings. The numbers are always the same for players from the same school. All three Texas players score 3. The two Michigan players score 15. The two Georgia players each score 7. Florida State...both score 6. I'm not sure it means much.
