As long as he runs a great gauntlet drill, I'm sold. -
Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!

I'm not sure if I agree with that. I strongly suspect that the offense we've seen under Brady is an adaptation to the lack of talent he has to work with at WR. -
Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!

We can always draft another WR with TE speed. That takes care of both spots, right? Right??? -
FINAL v3.0 now LIVE on p.15 - Gunner's 2025 Mock Draft
Brandon replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it's very likely that one of those picks will be a CB. If I had to guess, they'll try to sign a decent DT in FA and draft one later. -
I think the only question is whether you do it before or after June 1st.

Will there be any shock organizational moves in the coming days/weeks?
Brandon replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
From a front office or coaching standpoint, I doubt it. I would expect significant turnover defensively. I think Von Miller and Daquan Jones will both likely be released as post June 1st cuts. Hamlin and Douglas are unlikely to return. I thought Milano played well late in the year and I would keep him, but I wouldn't be stunned if they move on. -
The failure of the MVS experiment was a major reason they traded for Amari Cooper. Unfortunately, that didn't really work out, either.
-
I don't think that would stop them if the right player were available. We know they were desperate enough to trade a third for Cooper. That didn't work out and I'd be surprised if they re-sign him. Coleman should and will get another chance, but he didn't do anything in the last 8 games to inspire confidence that he's the answer. They still don't have any speed at all on the outside. Until they fix that position group, I think they have little choice but to continue trying to address it. If they don't, the risk increases that their opponents will make roster moves this offseason to further restrict this passing game. It's not far from being a catastrophic problem.
-
Yes, but both things are an issue. Brady and Allen did a great job working around the lack of speed and separation outside this year, but it's a pretty limited group. if I'm a division rival (or the Chiefs or other top AFC contender), I'm drafting a CB early to try to further restrict this passing attack. That being said, the Bills have 10 draft picks, including three in the first two rounds, and that's not including FA. If they make smart choices and find the right players, they have the resources to address both groups.

I would definitely bring Hollins back if possible. He shouldn't cost much and has proven, at worst, to be a quality reserve.
-
That may be easier said than done. Hollins is clearly the better player on the outside right now. And if you move Coleman into a 'power slot' role, he fills a similar usage profile in the passing game as Dalton Kincaid.
-
Some of that was out of necessity. They just don't have the talent at WR for the passing game to be the focal point. Brady did an excellent job most of the season masking their weakness at the position.
-
I certainly hope he proves me wrong. They need him to. Unfortunately, I'm having a very hard time finding anything positive in those last eight games.
-
Their skill sets are polar opposites. I don't know if Worthy would have been successful on this team, but his usage would absolutely have looked different. The Bills needed separation and downfield speed to keep defenses honest much more than a guy that can catch a few jump balls over the course of a season. They still do. Maybe Coleman will break out next year, but I'm definitely concerned after the way he played after the injury. That being said, I was 100% sold on McConkey with that pick rather than Worthy, though I did like the latter as well.
-
Yeah, I can cut Cole Bishop a little slack, given the training camp injury and that this supposedly is a complex defense for safeties to learn. Coleman...I'm concerned. Lack of vertical speed and separation were the knocks on him and both have been quite apparent down the stretch this year. Ray Davis looks like a pretty good player. The rest didn't play enough.
-
I strongly disagree with that. That first drive was ugly, and I wouldn't say he had a great game, but it was still a good one. He made enough plays to win. When the QB and the offense put 29 points on the board, you should win the game.

At what point do we start blaming Beane ?
Brandon replied to TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th's topic in The Stadium Wall
One of the two, for sure. Yes, they went further into the playoffs than this roster had any right to, but as I said in the McDermott thread, you can't have a defense that gives up 30+ points per game in playoff losses and goes 0-4 against the same team in the playoffs. There has to be some accountability at the top and something has to change. -
Yes. I don't think this loss is entirely his fault, as they have some serious talent deficiencies in the defensive backfield and at WR. That being said, you can't give up 30+ points per game in losses in the playoffs as a defensive HC, nor can you go 0-4 against the same team in the playoffs. There has to be some accountability at some point and I think we're at that stage.

I think they just wanted a bigger, more physical presence outside. But McConkey is basically playing at a near-Pro Bowl level, so if it was about a 'ceiling', that may not have been the best bet.
-
I haven't looked at the stats for the others lately, but McConkey looks to be an excellent player. He was my top Bills target last April and seems like he's going to be even better than I thought.

Deshaun Watson suffers 2nd achillies rupture

I think they're getting exactly what they deserve. They knew all about him when they traded for him. They deserve each other, IMO. -
Bills expected to have 2 extra 5th round compensatory picks in 2025

So two 7th round picks. -
Terrel Bernard in question for the start of the Playoffs ???
Brandon replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
The problem isn't the LBs so much as the undersized DTs. If those guys up front can't hold the point of attack, the LBs arent going to make much difference.
