Same.
And for all that BS about McConkey being a slot guy only...I don't give a damn if that's all he is. I would much rather have another high end slot WR than whatever Coleman is (or isnt) right now.
I think he's playing exactly to the lower end of his draft profile. He's just a jump ball guy right now who can't separate from coverage, and he's not a standout even in that role.
We have a major WR problem. They can't beat anyone outside one on one and defenses are bringing more rushers than the OL can block. There's no time to throw and no one open. It was so bad that Tyrell Shavers was the go to guy on the last drive.
I can't blame Brady when the talent deficiency is blatantly obvious.
Yes, but Palmer is the only guy they have that can separate from the outside WR spots. Without him, no one else gets open. The defense doesnt have to worry about getting beat deep and can bring more guys than the OL can block. This is the end result.
I hate to say it, but this team needs Gabe Davis to be healthy and on the field.
It's pretty sad when an injury to Josh Palmer can allow defenses to completely shut down this passing game. That's how bad the roster construction is at WR.
Agreed. I can't even blame Brady. It's the roster construction, specifically at WR. He just doesn't have much to work with. That's on Beane and McDermott.
Yes. Palmer isn't great by any stretch, but he's competent. They don't have anything else outside.
Good job, Beane. No one saw this coming for the last two years or anything.
I think it's just a function of relative expectations. A high second round pick? People expect a near Pro Bowl level player just on that count, but the front office also spent the offseason hyping up Coleman, too. No one has those types of expectations with Palmer or especially Samuel.
Shakir has had a high ankle sprain and those can linger for while. I'm willing to cut him some slack under the circumstances.
Palmer and Samuel haven't done much, but Coleman plays a significantly higher snap count than they do.
To some extent, yes, but it so far, his production in four of the first five games looks similar to the second half of last year. Higher catch percentage, sure, but not much else.
Unfortunately, it's not an even distribution. Throw out that Baltimore game and he's got 13 catches for 114 yards and 1 TD in the last four games. That's less than 9 yards per reception and he's been held to 26 yards or less in three of those four games.
Shakir is a good player, but they don't have any decent boundary receivers. That deficiency showed up tonight and it's particularly glaring given how Diggs torched them all night.
