  1. Sure it has been said, many times, many ways...I hope to god this tank thing works out for the Sabres, and they get McDavid or Eichel... but I just have a really hard time with the notion of rooting for my team to lose...it is such a perversion of everything I love about sports. Sports, for me, on game day anyways, used to be the one thing where cynicism and negativity weren't a factor...I just root for my team to win, straight up. I will take an ugly, poorly played win by the Bills, Sabres or Celtics, over a noble effort loss, any day of the week... I just chose not to subscribe to Center Ice this year, and have just been pretty much ignoring the Sabres/NHL as much as I can...I still read the re-caps, look at the standings...but man, this is a brutal process. I have only seen about 5 Sabres games this year...just tough to watch...ironically, I missed the Stars game last Saturday, even though it was on in my local market... I miss the Sabres! I suspect I will not be able to resist the NHL playoffs, probably rooting for the Sharks to make it over the hump...but what a tough season this has been.

  3. Oh, I will take your word on that. I just assumed, though, that Oliver would make considerably more money doing the Daily Show, 4 nights a week, for what? 40 weeks in a year, than one show per week for about 30 weeks. But, the point is moot, and you are right. I think a statement was officially released yesterday, that Oliver would not be going to the Daily Show. No, think of the Daily Show as the Tonight Show. Comedy Central won't let it go...especially on the eve of a presidential campaign... I think you could make the argument that Oliver is doing the closest thing to real news journalism (with humor) than any of the so-called legit television news media. He typically spends about 20 minutes of his show on one topic, and they go in depth, explaining a situation, all the nuts and bolts of the issue...I love the Daily Show, but Olivers' show is more substantial in its' content. For a relatively obscure guy, only having about 15 episodes so far, his investigative pieces have gotten a lot of attention... and though I know some would complain that he is just another lefty with a comedy forum, it isn't that simple.
  4. Dude, what is your !@#$ in problem?
  5. I guess I am in the minority...but I would take Cutler (or Marshall for that matter) in a heartbeat. He may not be elite, but he is worlds better than any QB the Bills have had since Bledsoe, year one. I think Marshall is (still) a stud too... the notion that they would be traded as a package is silly. Unless the Bears have a great back-up plan (can't imagine what that would be) at QB, they would be silly to dump Cutler. You would think Chicago, as much as any NFL franchise, would know how hard it is to find a decent starting QB. Instead of pushing Cutler out, they should focus on improving their O-line (Cutler had no protection this past season) and improving their defense a lot.
  6. I could be wrong too...but wasn't it established somewhere during Breaking Bad, that Mike was a cop in Philadelphia?
  7. Who else do you think they move? There isn't a ton left from the old regime...I am hoping they at least keep Tyler Ennis.
  8. I will also confess, I didn't get Center Ice this year (first time in about 13 years), because I just can't stomach watching the Sabres lose, night after night after night...I must say, unless Tyler Myers really improved this year (added some consistency to his game) I am not going to miss him. Stafford was a free-agent at the end of the season, I believe, and we weren't likely to re-sign him, so it is no big loss. The first round pick we are giving up, if I heard correctly, will be either the one we got from the Blues or the Islanders, not the one the Sabres (and their fans) are "earning" this season.... unless Armeia and/or Lemieux (who I know nothing about, but he seems highly regarded by many here) proves to be better than Kane, I think we made out good in this deal... Dante, you are closer to it...what is the root of all the problems Kane has been having in Winnipeg? I know he got in a fight with a teammate, and ruffled some feathers with an instagram picture, posing with $ stacks...anything else?
  9. I wonder if Comedy Central will try to pry John Oliver away from HBO. Oliver is doing an outstanding show on HBO. End of an era...first Colbert, now this.
  10. One of the things that made me respect Chan Gailey, perhaps more than any of the Bills other HC's in the last 15 years, was the way he handled Trent Edwards. After naming him his starter at the onset of training camp, he simply released him after 2 games and 2 awful starts. When asked why, Gailey said essentially, "I have seen enough, and I don't ever want to be tempted to go down that road again. I don't know if what we have is any better (Fitz), but I know what Edwards brought us wasn't good enough".
  11. Keep Hughes...
  12. I just hope people enjoy the show for what it is, and don't get all bent out of shape if it isn't "Breaking Bad". Odendkirk and McKeon are both terrific, and while I understand the trepidation some have with a spin-off series, I don't think Vince Gilligan would do it, if it wasn't up to his standards. Originally, he wasn't going to be heavily involved with the day to days of the show, but then get excited about it, and plunged back into it. Very promising start in my opinion.
  13. I think Dolan is a complete !@#$, for many reasons...but I think, too, your assessment is correct. The way fans are always demanding that people "need to go" is a real turn off to me.. or the way they insist that an owner needs to spend their money one way or another. I love my fellow Bills fans (before the Pegulas took over, I was convinced that Bills fans were the best thing about the Buffalo Bills), but they too, are getting this attitude. The attacks usually go way beyond sports, and get personal.
  14. Ricky Ray Sammy played some wild-cat at Clemson
  15. For me, the jury was always out on Marrone. I wanted to like him, but could just never get to that point. I will give him some credit though...over these past 15 miserable seasons, the cliché applied to pretty much every Bills coach along the way was..."they may not have won a lot of games, but this team never quit on their coach". I always thought that was a bunch of crap...this season was the first time I felt like, maybe, just maybe the Bills weren't quitting on their coach....so then he turns around and quits on them..go figure! I will say, I just hated listening to his press conferences...he never made a lot of sense during his first season, just talking without saying anything...I could live with that..but this season, he was just defensive all the time, and just always struck me as a joyless prick.
  16. Hey, Yolo, I don't come by as much as I used to...remind me of some of the things that Massare has been right about in the past...
  17. Sure, Brady and Montana are pretty hard to argue with...but neither is the greatest to me...I'd take Elway, Favre or Kelly any day...maybe not as great statistically, but a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Obviously, I have respect for what Brady and Montana, along with their teams have accomplished, but I always found the 49ers of the Montana era colossally dull to watch...I have a feeling, if I didn't dislike them so much, I would feel the same way about the Pats. I don't find them dull, because I root heavily against them. Also, even if you look the other way on the cheating stuff with the Patriots, the game is so different this century than it was, even in the 90's. I know, they can only play by the rules of their time, but eventually, in the not so distant future, every passing record will be held by somebody who played between 2002-2020...is it because the QB's are so much better, or because the game has changed so much, to favor the QB?
  18. No... I don't think so. I am not talking about Thursday Night...I am talking about the Monday Night double header they do in week one...seems as though I have seen a lot of middling teams on those games...for instance, in 2012 the Chargers and Raiders played...neither team made it to the playoffs in 2011. Buffalo vs NY Jets would not only be a high profile game because of the Rex/Jets drama, but it would also include the Bills battling a major market team... I think some are under-estimating the visibility that Rex is going to have this coming summer...ESPN will hype the Bills/Jets games to death...and Rex will likely feed the pig, with some juicy quotes. It's what he does! He loves that stuff...ESPN loves that stuff...
  19. I still like my idea of Bills/Jets as the early MNF matchup on opening week.
  20. Just the fact that Taylor Swift is the best selling artist over the last few years is an indication that not everyone takes music so seriously...but I completely appreciate your sentiments! They will over time...
  21. Wade spent three years as the Broncos defensive coordinator, before taking Dan Reeves place as head coach for two seasons. Then he came to the Bills, as DC, and HC in waiting...he is a hell of a good coordinator.
