  1. I vote for EJ/Kyle, and an improved O-line. The only other one that might be realistic, and I would consider would be Jay Cutler...but I am not even completely sold on that move. He would get eaten alive by Bills fans. I just don't think the Bills should be chasing for QB's when good QB's are just not to be found...Manning, Cutler, Romo and Newton are the only guys on that list that I am pretty sure are an upgrade over what we have...and beside the fact that none of them are likely to be traded, or would come with a huge cost, I just don't see it...
  2. Hmm...I guess I don't get to see all the teams on a regular enough basis, but surprised that Mario wouldn't make it. He is probably having the best year of his career...
  3. I remember the first time my family had wings...six sisters, me and my brother, and my parents. I am guessing it was around 1972 or so...I was about 6 or 7. I am pretty sure my father was the only one of us who had ever eaten them before. He got us a huge bucket (I think it was a bucket, there were a lot!) for "casual Friday night dinner". We all sat around the kitchen table, and passed our plates down to my father...he put 2 or 3 wings on everyones' plate. I could tell, before we even tasted them, most of my sisters were probably going to hate them...they hated everything! So, we start eating them...they were the hottest thing I had ever tasted at that point in my life. My eyes were watering a little, my lips were burning... I thought they were awesome! My brother too! As I predicted, all my sister hated them...my youngest sister was even crying because they were so hot...my mom was pissed at my dad for thinking kids would like them. My dad, brother and I ended up eating pretty much all of them...I was hooked. A few years later, when it was easier to order them (remember when you could get a bucket of 50 wings for $5.99, or even $4.99 on "wing night"?), my brother and I would order a bucket and have our own eating contests...normally with a Sabres or Braves game blaring away in the background. Even though I was 6 years younger, I could hold my own... even "won" a few times... they couldn't make them hot enough for us.... Sadly, now, pushing 50, I still love good wings (about 99% of what they sell in Texas as "buffalo wings" are garbage) but I like them a little milder. At some point, I realized, with the "nuclear" wings, and the likes, it was all about the burning lips, and you couldn't even really taste the chicken. What was the point? When I go home to Buffalo (can't wait to hit Casi Di Pizza and La Nova next week!!!!)I still like them hot...but not nuclear hot. The rare occasion that I order wings in Texas, I will order them extra hot, or whatever they offer, because most places they are more spicey than "hot"...or worse, come with barbeque sauce! There are a few places that have okay wings, though none of them are very convenient. If I need a fix, I go to BW3, order them with "buffalo rub" (they are nice and crispy) and then douse them in my own Franks when I get home.
  4. Cutler says: Who gives a !@#$?
  5. Cutler obviously has his problems, but if I was a Bears fan, I would be a little leary of ditching him without an adequate replacement. This league is littered with teams who are desperate for QB's. The Bears offense (and defense don't forget) are horrid this year, but Cutler and his offensive crew looked pretty decent at times last year...Cutler is an easy target, but I think it would be a really stupid move for them to ditch him. That said, I wouldn't mind him as a Buffalo Bill, but I also realize, some guys need to be in the right situation to succeed...I don't necessarily think Buffalo would be a good match for Cutler.
  6. Got it...you are right...scary times we live in. Yeah, but his point was that you can call the scum that the flew into the WTC a lot of things, but "cowards" wasn't one of them.
  7. ****...those are the kind of comments that got Bill Maher fired from ABC in 2001... What exactly does the " " emoticon mean? I got the feeling that dev/null was trying to make some sort of commentary with that, beyond just the actual story, which I think everyone agrees, is pretty tragic, and sad.
  8. Pheww!!! Thanks for getting that declaration in just under the wire..that was close! I can't stand it when a guy on our team goes a day too long without being declared a bust! Also, you say the stats don't lie? What conclusion are you drawing from the stats that you are showing? I look at it and I see that Goodwin has nearly half the yardage that Graham had, and the same number of TD's with 66% fewer receptions...so do we draw the conclusion that Goodwin is three times as good as Graham was?
  9. Eh...I like Orton, and EJ...fug you all!
  10. Congrats to everyone who advanced...feel your pain Dante and KD. I got bounced tonight in my big money league ($1200 jackpot), after finishing with the best record in the league (only8th in scoring though...wish I could say it was all my stellar defense!)...just nobody came through for me with a big game this week...just the way FF goes I suppose. I needed about a 40 pt game from Jay Cutler tonight in order to advance...needless to say, that didn't come close to happening... Funny thing is, knowing that I more than likely was going to lose, early on Sunday, the Bills beating the Packers took a lot of the sting out of this, for me...can't wait for next FF season! Thanks for all the advice this year fellas...sorry for any bad advice I gave you!
  11. I would argue that Kyle could have "easily picked up" that first down....dude is aware of his limitations in the mobility department.
  12. BackInDaDay, you say you want Schwartz as your HC, and they should let him "hire a professional offensive coaching staff"? Did you miss Schwartz 6 seasons as HC in Detroit? Do you realize that the current QB coach on for the Bills was Schwartz QB coach in Detroit? The notion that because Schwartz has done a great job of getting the best out a group of very talented defenders who were already in place when he got there, is no indication that he could work a miracle with the offense. The Lions offenses were full of talent during his tenure there, but their undisciplined defense and underachieving offense, stocked with high draft picks, are what did him in there. Not trying to take anything away from the job he has done with the Bills, but lets everybody cool there jets on this notion that he is the answer to all the Bills coaching woes.. I am not opposed to the Bills making coaching changes,if they are clear improvements I have also not been the biggest Marrone fan, but I think you/we should just deal with the fact that he will be back next year And you know what, he is earning a return. Given the darkness of the last 15 years, how can you really expect the new owner to can this guy right now? I feel the frustration with the offense, but let Marrone/Whaley tweak things....improvement on the O-line, and improved QB play (wherever that comes from) will make a lot of things look better.
  13. Ha ha...I hear you...in the last 10 years or so, I used to justify my love of FF as a way of keeping the season interesting for myself, once the Bills were down for the count...looks like the last 2 weeks of the real football season will be a bit more interesting, for once, than my FF season...Bills beating the Packers takes a bit of the sting out...even with $1200 on the line! Still..as it shakes out, I have all my hopes now resting on Jay Cutlers indifferent shoulders. I need him to get 36pts tomorrow night, plus a point more than whatever Mark Ingram ends up with....that could happen...right?
  14. Not to pile on Kyle (I actually like him, and hope he returns), but he may have the slowest feet of any QB I have seen play in many, many years...I can't even think of another QB who looks so awkward if he has to move around after his initial drop...I think, when that does happen, his single thought is "don't turn the ball over", which makes him even less effective in those situations.
  15. Yep...not a huge Hackett guy at this point, but to bring up the 3rd and 5 as an example of his ineptitude as a play-caller is ridiculous. The Bills had the play, everything worked as it was supposed to for the Bills on that play, but Orton simply overthrew the pass...give credit to Hackett for having the balls to make that call....it would have been huge if the QB had executed it the way he was supposed to.
  16. Fantasy gods are not being kind to me...Maclin with with the big catch, stopped in the goal line....Polk and Sproles poached 3 td's from McCoy...fug!
  17. Half time of the Sunday night game, and I have to come up with about 50 points between LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, and Jay Cutler tomorrow night....oh yeah, and my opponent also has Ingram going tomorrow night...it ain't looking good for me...only the Ravens defense (26pts) came through for me...
  18. Eh....I have Jordy Nelson, who I am not benching, so I am already dirty!
  19. Let me ask this.. I got garbage at #2 RB spot...Reggie Bush, who may or may not play, at this time, is my best option. Think I should add James Starks and keep my fingers crossed he get some carries in his return home, maybe a td?
  20. I feel your confusion on this one, Pooj. I would be so tempted to go with Sammy, but the odds probably say Thomas s the wiser pick. Something tells me, after last weeks bad passing game against Buffalo (by Manning standards), the Broncos will try a little to shut up some of the whispers that Manning is slipping...especially early in the game, I can really see the Broncos trying to light up the Chargers through the air. Of course, Sammy's match-up looks favorable too, especially in light of the game Julio Jones had against the Pack last week..but being objective, the Bills passing game has just not been consistent enough as of late to just assume anything...
  21. Thanks for your input KD. I dumped the Texans Defense and picked up the Ravens. I will play them against Jacksonville. Ravens secondary is bad, but I have my fingers crossed that the Jags won't be up for the game, and the Ravens, at home, should play with a little inspiration. Not much I can do about the RB situation, however...I just got my fingers crossed that lady luck smiles on me two more times.
  22. We all do...but those guys don't grow on trees. I'm with you. I can deal wiht Orton and EJ, along with another developing player (somebody with more upside that Tuel- a top 4 round pick, perhaps) over just throwing a lot of money at a name player that has already proven he is not that great. They were both "mercurial" but I really think Cutler is a little mis-understood sometimes. George was kind of a loud-mouth punk, ego-maniac. The knock on Cutler is that he just doesn't seem to care enough...those closest to him seem to think he does, he just isn't good with the media. I think they are pretty different. Of course, I have always liked Cutler.
  23. Honestly, I don't seen anybody on that list that is so much better than what we already have. Cutler is the only one I think is clearly better than Orton and/or Manuel, if he is in the right situation. And his cost his way too high. The other guys? Sure, some of them are intriguing, but not at what they would cost.
  24. Okay...I got the #1 seed in my league, even though, on the year, I was 8th in our 12 man league in scoring...so I have been lucky. I just want to extend that luck another two weeks! Need to pick a defense. Either Houston (@INDIANAPOLIS) or Miami (@NEW ENGLAND) My biggest issue is at running back. I need to start two this week. I am, obviously, going with LeSean McCoy (though he has been a dud a lot of weeks), but I am having a tough time picking my second RB...the list of mediocre candidates, pick one: Reggie Bush (vs Minnesota)- did not practice, probably a game time decision Bryce Brown (vs Green Bay)- something tells me the Bills don't run a lot this Sunday, but BB is a decent receiver, no? Travares Cadet (@CHICAGO)- Monday Night...have carried this kid most of the season, just waiting for something Charles Sims (@CAROLINA)- hard to get a gauge on the TB running attack... My line-up as it stands now: QB: Jay Cutler RB: LeSean McCoy RB: ? (proababy Bush, Cadet if Bush can't go) WR: Jordy Nelson WR: Jeremy Maclin FLEX: DeAndre Hopkins TE: Coby Fleener PK: Adam Vinateri DEF: Houston (@INDIANAPOLIS)
  25. Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. In that case, I might go with Evans over Crowell. Evans has just been very steady, and is a big part of the Tampa Bay offense. Crowell is definitley (by my eyes) the best running back in Cleveland, but I just hate having to rely on anyone in the Browns offense. Tough call, but I would go with Evans.
