  1. I know it isn't popular opinion around here, but I really believe this playoff drought would not be going on 14 years had Donohoe not been fired. He wasn't perfect, and a bit of a control freak, I know...but they were a lot closer to being a playoff team when he left than they had been...up til now!
  2. Namaan has gone back and forth a lot...but I still wonder if Joe Klopefenstein holds the record for most most trips back and forth from the practice squad, for the Bills. At least Namaan appeared in a game or two...
  3. Me too man...I picked McCoy, with the #1 overall pick. He hasn't been awful, but he hasn't been great either. Of course, I also picked Jeremy Maclin, who has been kicking ass. I wonder how Sanchez being in there will affect the two of them, production wise.
  4. The Sopranos Rectify Boardwalk Empire Louie I would list True Detective as well, but it is a mere 8 episodes. Really well done, though I did not love the finale.
  5. My dad was a devout reader of the Tonawanda News... it lasted a year longer than him... the last couple of years he was po'd because the TN started using more syndicated stuff, so it lost its' "local feeling"... tough times for the newspaper industry. Kinda miss the days of getting up very early on Sundays, getting the Buffalo News, NY Post, Newsday, NY Times, sitting at a diner, purusing them for any mention of the Bills....
  6. Heard them talking about Schwartz on the John Murphy show the other night...Chris Brown was saying that players are motivated by Schwartz to make plays, because he gets really pissed off when they don't. Schwartz, they say, takes every down seriously...if a guy doesn't make a stop on 3rd down, he will hear about it from the coach. Seems obvious, but apparently, this is something kind of new at One Bills Drive.
  7. Also wondering, why/how did Glenn & Maggie become such a bargaining chip between Rick and Abraham? Was it just because Abraham felt like they needed extra bodies with them on their bus ride to DC? It was just kind of odd...didn't Glenn tell Abraham, in just the previous episode that the group goes where Rick goes? Did I miss something? To think of all they have been through, and all the people they have mis-trusted and been dicked over by, along the way, why are they trusting Abraham & co so implicitly?
  8. I like this team a lot, don't get me wrong...but I think that 1999 defense was the best run defense we have had in the last 25 years or so.... they were close to impossible to run on, as I recall.
  9. I am not arguing with you at all, but isn't it funny how the guard position has traditionally been an afterthought for most...you don't realize how imortant they are, until your team doesn't have any good ones.
  10. The Bills game "NFL Game Rewind" are almost always (i said "almost always") on Monday night, between 9pm-10pm eastern. Speaking of which, does anyone have Weeks 1 & 2 (Bills vs Bears & Dolphins) "NFL Game Rewind" episdoes featuring the Bills, recorded? If you can put them on a DVD for me, I would be most appreciated, and I would be willing to compensate! Anyone? PM me.
  11. Yeah... last nights' episode was a little ponderous...not sure what point they were really trying to make, other than life during the zombie apocalypse makes people do things they wouldn't have done before the zombie apocalypse...a point they have made dozens of times already... biggest question for me, in regards to this episode, what is up with Carol? Why didn't they show her at the end? Why wouldn't she come out of the bushes with Daryl? Also, maybe my memory is murky...but did Bob know Sasha before they all met up at the prison? I don't remember his character as the perpetually sunny optimist before the last 15 minutes of last weeks show. Maybe meeting Sasha, in this "mad mad world" is what turned him that way, but this new found facet of his personality seemed a bit tacked on, to give the death of his character a little more emotional resonance?
  12. Just got done watching the (excellent) documentary about Ginger Baker... as fugged up as EC may have been in those days, Ginger makes him look like a school-boy drinking Boones Farm...
  13. Hey, did the remover the "bird flipping" emoticon?
  14. True... These Bills are slowly re-defining who they are. Sure, they still got the crap kicked out of them by the Pats, and they really should have beaten the Texans...but winning games in Chicago and Detroit are good signs that this isn't the same 'ol same 'ol...next is beating teams in their division, on the road.
  15. Nah, quinearly stole my avatar! It has caused me confusion a few times too..."did I really say something that dumb?"
  16. A tradition started, I believe, by Troy Aikman, and now repeated by many... "He defensed that pass as well as you could have". It should be "defended that pass"...my dad, an old english teacher, used to go nuts on this one...it has now become accepted, even though it is not correct, at all....
  17. While it certainly isn't the end of all hope, should they lose to the Jets on Sunday, I think this game is a huge gauge as to how much better the Bills really are. Given the recent history, this is a game the Bills just don't win. Divisional foe, on the road in a building they have had a hard time in..Bills with "something to play for"... opponent playing only for pride.. The Jets record, IMO, is irrelevant. If the Bills win this game, I think there is real reason to feel very optimistic about them. Lose, and many will still be wondering if they can make it to 7 wins. On paper, believe it or not, the Bills have often been the better team...but have consistantly come up small in these situatins. The Bills are not in the NFC North...they need to start winning games that are winnable, in the AFC as well. They don't have to win this game..but they need to!
  18. I have heard Clapton point to that specific show (Buffalo) as the spring-board for him realizing he had a serious substance problem....the first time he says he seriously tried to sober himself up...I wasn't there, but I have heard many stories about that show over the years.
  19. Yeah...I am leaning toward Cadet. The Bills fan in me wants to roll with Brown, but the other Bills fan in me keeps trying to talk him out of it...Jets defense scares me a little, especially at home. I feel like Martin, assuming he plays, is good for about 7 or 8 points... thing about Cadet, so far (small sample size I realize) he doesn't appear to be much of a runner, just a pass catcher out ot the backfiled...even still, I think he can at least match Martin, point wise.
  20. Or just sign Payton Manning, and let the rest take care of itself!
  21. Non-bad QBs don't grow on trees. Sometimes a coach doesn't have a lot of alternatives, and has to try to make the best of it, with what he has.
  22. I wouldn't drop any of the guys you have listed, for Hogan. Nice story, but I would have to see a bit more from him before I cut ties with any of the rest of those guys. All those receivers have more upside than Hogan (Adams plays with Rodgers...I would keep him), and RB's are hard to come by, especially this time of the season... I think Robert Woods will ultimately be the benefactor of Sammy Watkins coming on strong.
  23. I have Doug Martin...I can't wait to get to a point this season where I don't feel like I "have to start" him. Let me ask this: I am really thin at RB (LeSean McCoy, Doug Martin, Isiah Crowell, Travaris Cadet, Devonta Freeman, and Bryce Brown)... I am obviously starting McCoy this week...who would be your #2 guy?
