  1. They almost never overturn plays where the coach challanges the spot of the ball. And Marrone has an awful record on challenging calls... he had one successful challange this past Sunday (I cant even recall what it was now), but I think that was the first one in a long, long, long time...
  2. He is famailiar with the winds at Ford Field... a big advantage this time of year, IMO!
  3. I am really looking forward to seeing if Williams benefits from the QB shuffle. I know Orton is not known for great arm strength, but he is known for being pretty confident and accurate...
  4. I really liked this last episode...they just had too many stories and characters going, the first four seasons, to wrap it all up completely satisfactorily. Still enjoying it though... I got a little crush on Margaret, so could to see her back in her ravishing (or ravishable?) form, even though that whole thing seemed a little too dreamy... does Van Alden flip and return to his roots? Jim, I know what you mean about the flashbacks...but I will say, the ones in this past episode were pretty powerful. Young Nucky breaking down and balling because he sees what it is to have a "happy home" at the sheriffs house was pretty powerful. That, more than any other part of the flashbacks, kind of explains Nucy Thompson, and how he came to be...it is hard to find good kid actors...
  5. I am not taking the Lions lightly, at all...but I am a little more optimistic this week that we give them a game, at the very least.
  6. Crud... had to cut the Cards defense, and settle for Fleener at tight-end...
  7. I think Collinsworth is the best. I may not always agree with everything he says, but I like his style.
  8. I think Off the Wall definitely attracts a smaller, but higher quality, of poster. Main board is just too repetitive..people saying the exact same thing, but arguing over it anyways...
  9. EJ may have accuracy issues...but I think they are made worse by over-thinking....it is almost as if, while in the motion of throwing, the thought enters his mind "I don't want this to get picked off", so he makes sure it won't. Like he is throwing not to get picked off, instead of to complete a pass...
  10. In...
  11. Great post Utah. I remember before the season started, hearing Steve Tasker saying something along the lines of "the bickering Bills" of 1989 played a huge role in the success the team had in the early 90's. Tasker was wondering if the Bills had anyone on the roster who was willing to stand up and call guys out if they weren't performing the way they should. Tasker said those Bills teams were chocked full of guys like that. He said that being challenged by your teammates is a lot different than being challenged by a coach. Maybe, just maybe, Woods is emerging as a young leader...
  12. I have been noticing the "Robert Woods body language" with EJ since the first pre-season game. Woods is a tough guy...be plays with a lot of fire...go back and look at some his USC tapes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this "attitude" was at the center of whatever issues Marrone had with Woods in camp. When the Bills finally turn things around (they will), I think Robert Woods will be a big part of it.
  13. If nothing else, I am anxious to see how big a difference a different QB makes with our line, WR's and play calling. Orton hasn't played in a while, no training camp, so you would almost have to expect him to have some rust. I am just anxious to see how these receivers look, if they are getting passes delivered to them in the optimum time and space they need to do their thing. I really hope Orton provides a spark. If it means anything, Trent Dilfer, after bagging on EJ (perplexed that the Bills drafted him #1, even more perplexed that they started him right away) thinks that the combination of Orton taking over the reigns of the offense, and New Englands' seeming demise, makes the Bills his favorite, after 4 weeks, to win the AFC East.
  14. Pretty much in line with what I am thinking....though my wavier claim for Heath Miller, in favor of Cards defense was denied! Grrr...I can't find a healthy tight end!
  15. My vote goes to pretty much anything I don't like.
  16. How many defenses do you carry on your roster? I have always been one to draft a single defense (Cardinals this year), pick up a second one when the first one is on the bye, and then cut the lesser of the two, asap. This year, I got myself into a bit of a quandary. I picked up the Chargers this week, when the Cards were on the bye, but then, for some reason, somebody in my league cut the Bengals d (#2 overall in my league) as they were on the bye. I pounced on the Bengals d....so now I got three. Never been in that position before. I have to cut one (probably the Cards), in favor of a healthy TE option...should I keep two defenses and play the best matchup each week? Or just stick with one?
  17. How would you feel if Kiko Alonso had been drafted in the first round, Robert Woods in the second, and EJ Manuel in the third? Or, Kiko #1, Geno Smith #2?
  18. Case Di Pizza or La Nova for me...the stuff of dreams...
  19. Gonna watch tonight! Sunday nights are not good for me during football season!
  20. I know it means littlle...but this was a "scouting report" written for Kyle Orton, in December of last year...it is almost as if it were written with EJ's critics in mind: "plays with a great deal of confidence", "not afraid to throw the ball into tight spots", "throws a very catchable ball", "really nice touch on checkdown and screen passes", "doesn't put his guys in bad spots", "not afraid to rip the ball down the middle of the field", "does really nice job of keeping his eyes down field" "ball will arrive on time"... all the things that people are complaining about in reference to EJ. http://www.dallascow...9f-6dd3678ebd59 Of course, this is from the Dallas Cowboys web-site, so the scout is comparing Orton, mainly, to Tony Romo... he does note Ortons' lack of mobility and "foot quickness".
  21. I have been as supportive of EJ as anyone...but not at the cost of resigning myself to writing this season off, after four games. I also hate this narritive (not yours, but in general) that by benching Manuel, the Bills are "done with him". No, they aren't. He will more than likely be a Buffalo Bill in 2015, and I would be surprised, whether for perfromance or injury reasons, he doesn't get another crack at the starting job. To me, given the way EJ played this past Sunday (the last two Sundays), I think it was/is reasonable to expect, he wouldn't fare a lot better against the Lions pass rush this coming Sunday. I just don't think that leaving a guy in, who is obviously struggling, especially at such a vital position, does EJ any good, or the rest of his teammates. Cliche as it is, it is a team game...playing QB, your mistakes and shortcomings are going to be magnified. I honestly believe that Marrone feels like he has a pretty decent team on his hands...I think he owes it to them (not to mention Bills fans) to try to make this into a winning team this year. It has nothing to do with new owners or anything like that, in my opinion, and everything to do with being a coach who's job it is to try to win, all the time. I am not even 100% sold on Dough Marrone and his coaching staff, but I think this was a smart decision.
  22. Bird bird bird, bird is the word...everybody have you heard?
