I have been enjoying the final season (this show, if nothing else, just looks so great in HD, its' hard not to like it), but have been a little underwhelmed by some of it. I have never had a problem with the Jillian character, but to be spending so much time with her, in the very last episodes? It kind of feels like they are trying to justify her existence on the show, from the beginning. Other than finding out that Jimmy was actually Nucky's son (they would never go there), I thought her story line was pretty much done when she was arrested. I knew they would always get to making some point about Nucky's dead wife and son, but because of the shortened season, it just seems like they are ham-fisting a lot of these "deep" character issues....as if they always thought they would have time to get to them, at some point, and now are just having to tack them on. I honestly thought Eli would be gone by now...cat has nine lives! Speaking of cats with nine lives, my favorite scene from this past episode, was Nucky looking at Mickey, and both of them chuckling at the fact that they would one day be the "last men standing" in NJ...given the animosity that Nucky has had for Mickey over the years. But, as it turned out, Mickey was on his tenth, and final, life! I will miss this show a lot. It has been one of my 2 or 3 favorite shows on television since the Sopranos went off the air...but this final season hasn't really done it justice, IMO.

PSA: Jim Kelly on Mike Lupica Show 2pm est
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you follow the Sabres at all, you will know Pegula is big on treating ex-players like royalty...especially ones of Jim's pedigree. I wonder though, if Kelly's flirting with the Bon Jovi people damaged their relationship at all. I know Pegula "wished" Kelly was there for his introductory pc, and mentioned that he was in New York dealing with things related to his on-going health issues. I also know, Jim issued a congratulatory statement a few days later...just feels odd that he hasn't been a little more visible, though understandable. Just wondering out loud. -

I wonder if Jim is still employed by the Bills in any way. -
Hey Gunner, not sure where I read this, but at the very least, I believe that Bills are considered a "prime candidate" to play a game in London next season.

So, checking out the slate for my local, Austin, TX affiliates this Sunday (week 8) broadcasts...seems that FOX and CBS both have a Sunday double-header this weekend... FOX is showing the Detroit/Atlanta game in London, at 8:30am (9:30am eastern), followed by the Houston/Tennessee game at noon. Over on CBS, at noon, we get Seattle/Carolina and Indianapolis at Pittsburgh at 3:25pm. Won't matter too much to me, as I will be at the bar watching the Bills game...if it were a more interesting matchup than the Lions/Falcoons I might make the effort to watch at 8:30 in the morning.... Let me ask, isn't this the first time they have done this with the London game? I don't remember ever watching football before noon (except once when I was on the west coast), for one of the international games. Never thought about it much, but if the NFL's dream of adding a team in London, full time, were to come true, it could change our Sunday watching habits some.

Breaking Bad: Hope You Stocked Up

Love Cranstons' tweet! -
I haven't been bowled over by Spikes, honestly. I think they gotta re-sign Dareus and Hughes (both have been great so far this season), then CJ and Spikes, in that order.
-
I would make that trade in a hearbeat. I would then turn around and try to trade Cam for a another more reliable running back. Considering your misfortunes at the RB position, you aren't terrible there, but I don't see a guy I would feel comfortable playing every week, other than maybe Bernard...and even he has been a little disappointing thus far. Also, you don't really need Watkins, even without Sanu. I would love Watkins too, but like you, I think WR is the strength of my team....if you can Watkins straight up, without giving up a lot, go for it...but you have a decent team. Looks to me that RB is your primary need.
-
I don't remember that at all.

So, I guess I should have gone back and watched the last few episodes from last season, before the new season started...my memory is getting worse all the time...this past (2nd episode of the season) kind of had my head spinning, trying to figure out what is "really going on". Not a comic book follower, so forgive me, but what is Abraham up too? Also, the Terminus crew, before Carol wrecked their place, were slaughtering humans to eat? Correct? Perhaps they don't know that they are already infected, as the CDC guy tells Rick, way back in season one?

Heath Evans Predicts Jets to Beat Bills.....Both Times
Buftex replied to rsherman12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed....and that is saying soemthing... -
Really? I understand, conventional wisdom seems to be that Bryce Brown will get the bulk of the carries, with Freddie and Spiller out...but given their styles, and our awful O-line, Brown is playing the Spiller role, and Dixon the Freddie role..just inclined to think that Dixon will see more carries, because he will be more consistantly productive, if not as flashy. I know Dixon is more of a full-back type, but I think he has run the ball pretty decently, and is pretty fast & agile for a big dude. I just have this fear of Brown getting swalled up...maybe I am all wrong, and thinking about it too much? Just being closer to the Bills than other teams, I have learned, over the years, to always assume that what seems logical is not the reality for our guys...either way, I need runnig backs, bad...
-
Been pondering the same question....then I noticed, Tre Mason is available in my leuge too....how would you rank the following running backs (listed in the order I am thinking): 1- Tre Mason 2- Anthony Dixon 3- Bryce Brown 4- Denard Robinson

I get your point...and I admit, I was miserable for most of the game yesterday, as I have been many Sundays over the last 15 years or so, watching this team. But, you say you don't care who is taking snaps, EJ or Orton... again I say this as somebody who has been pretty supportive of EJ...I can't help but feel the Bills might very well be 2-5 right now if he had been left in there. I think the evidence is pretty compelling that EJ was not getting the job done, with constant pressure. Through no fault of EJ's or Ortons, the O-line is playing horribly, and the run game, even before Freddie and CJ was not really doing a hell of a lot...I would argue, despite his problems, Orton has been the difference in both of the last two wins...and I don't think he lost the New England game for us. For all those saying Orton is Fitzpatrick V.2, I might agree..but an improved V.2,who, two of the last three weeks has been able to finish. Not arguing that Orton is the guy the Bills should be buidling their future around (or that EJ isn't) but he is actually using the WR's we have and winning games with them. I can't blame Orton for the failings of the run game...but he is getting the job done. The Bills are moving the ball veritically...something they haven't done consistantly, in a few seasons...people are acting as if they are ashamed of the way the Bills have won games...how many games have the Bills lost the last 15 years, in the fashion that the Lions and Vikings lost to them the last few weeks? Countless. If you follow any team, week in, week out, event the "great teams", you will find that they all win a few games every year where they take advantage of the failures of their oppenant. If this was the Broncos, or the Patriots or one of the other perenials, I could understand the fans being so miserable after a loss... but everybody having the collective mind-set that the Bills should be an elite team is silly...until they actually start winning games...no matter how they do it. Take some satisfaction that, perhaps, Watkins is the real deal, and we have a QB who is using him...it is a start.

Put Bryce Brown on your fantasy team.
Buftex replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wonder who will get more carries, Dixon or Brown. -
Two things Dawg, with all due respect: Of all the posters here, to take Promo The Robot to task is kinda odd..he is probably the most optimistic poster here, and I rarely, if ever, see him bash any Bills players. This place has been so miserable as of late, I admit I could only stomach so many "EJ sucks" threads, but I would be pretty surprised if PTR was piling on him... Secondly, as ugly as things may have been today (and I say this as an EJ guy), do you honestly think this offens has shown "no signs of getting better" since Orton has been at the helm? He has not been perfect, by any stretch, but he has made dozens of throws that EJ couldn't or wouldn't make, in the past three weeks. The run game has struggled, the O-line play has been atrocious...yet after 3 weeks, Orton is 2-1 as a starter, and has nearly doubled the productivity of the passing game in that time...have some perspective.

In my leauge, I had my #1 & 2 running backs (L.McCoy and D. Martin) out on the bye week. Two of my backups are injured (R.Matthews & DeAngelo Williams), and the other, T.West was a healthy scratch this past Sunday for the Browns. I am screwed. I had to drop Victor Cruz (IR), Ryan Matthews (injured) and DeAngelo Williams (injured), and pick up DaVaonte Freeman, Travares Cadet and Isiah Crowell, just so I had some guys to start, who are actually dressing for their games..it will be a miracle if I win this week!
-
I liked Nelson, but I think WR is not a real area of concern for the Bills right now. Can't see any real reason to bring him back. If he can't keep a job on a Jets roster, which until yesterday, was awful at WR, that should tell you something.

This is really awesome... a day of WBEN broadcasting from 1973...including Van Miller doing a Buffalo Braves game! http://www.staffannouncer.com/wben73.htm

Don't know if you all know about this web-site..my brother in-law recently turned me on to it...if you grew up in Buffalo, particularly in the 60-late 80's, it is just awesome...archived broadcasts from Buffalo...Van Miller radio calls, Ted Darling doing a re-cap of the Sabres 1975 season....a blast of nostalgia. This is a truly awesome web-site: http://staffannouncer.com/ As for Van Miller, I must say, like a lot of things, I didn't appreciate him as much when I used to listen to him. Because, it normally meant I was stuck listening to the Bills game, rather than seeing it...for some reason, that seemed inferior to me. Now, I appreciate him more. Had the same lack of appreciation for RJ as a lad....cuz Ted Darling was so smooth... As Alaska Darin points out, and I agree wholehearedly, I like John Murphy, but I just don't find him particularly compelling doing the games...kinda dull. Van just had an hint of excitement in his voice, but wasn't over the top like so many "hometown guys" try to be now.

Yeah...must admit, I never heard of most of their shows, until they were out on DVD, and alredy cancelled. But, the "Hollywood coservative conspiracy" was Grammers' slant on its' cancellation, at least in part. I think he won a Golden Globe for the show..one of those things I will check out some day. I think he is pretty great in everything I have seen him in.
-
I haven't seen it, but I remember when it was cancelled, Kelsey Grammer said it was purely because he was a self identified conservative, so the show went ignored by Hollywood...Grammer felt it was the best work he had ever done.

I like the Browns, always pull for them and the Bengals, if they aren't playing the Bills. I am glad they beat Pittsburgh the other day, and good for them to be off to a good start. But, they are 3-2...not 10-3...lets see how it all plays out before demanding mea-culpas, and dealing out "I told you so's". Every year there are a handful of teams that get off to a better than expeced start, only to have the wheels fall off as the year goes on... and vice versa...
