There was a time it was common place. But that was also the time that rosters were limited to 40, FG kickers made about 60% (Now, you're in jeopardy of losing your job if you make less than 90%), and kickoffs (from the 40) often didn't reach the end zone. Before that, it was performed by "regular" football players.

I've played golf w/ a club pro before. Really awesome golfer. I'm sure he has a negative handicap. The guy can hit shots that I'm incapable of. In fact, I might go so far to say that to anyone but the most knowledgeable of observers, there's no shot that Tiger Woods could hit that he can't duplicate. Now, who do you think is a better golfer? I'll give you a hint - he's the one who makes about 100x more. Yes, I'm sure Potter can kick FGs, Lindell can punt, etc; all better than you & I (& again, to the casual observer, you probably couldn't discern the difference on many of the attempts. But they don't do it as well as one who specializes in that "art", specifically not as consistently.

I'd like to point out that we gave up 580 (I think that was the #) $%^&ing yards! Sure the turnovers hurt (I've long theorized that a turnover is worth 5 points effect), but I'd say we more lost as a result of a complete inability to stop them over the last part of the game.

Our ST, particularly punting, took a noticeable downturn when Dehaven took over for April. I attributed it to a difference in philosophies &/or emphasis by the HC (you can say Jauron was weak in several areas, but at least he supported strong ST). How much of it was Moorman's decline, we might never know. He'll presumably catch on elsewhere & we'll see how he does. Regardless, our punt team was not doing well & I suppose it's easier to cut a punter than fire the ST coach. Best of luck & hope for continued success Brian (unless you sign w/ the Patsies).

They're not a carrier, but a reseller. Depending on where you are, you can have one of a few carriers (AT&T & T-Mobile are the ones most are assigned to). They're run by the same company as Tracfone. I have a Tracfone. I've had phones carried by AT&T (very good signal) & T-Mobile (terrible & unreliable). (I live near Albany, NY, so other areas may vary, but the general consensus seems to be T-Mobile sucks.) I'd recommend it if you don't use your phone much. I prolly avg about $12/month, most of which is texting. p.s. Customer Support is notoriously terrible, too.

FWIW, the linked Buff News artcle now sez RETIRED. If it really is retiring, I can only think of a personal issue, likely health for this to happen at this time, especially w/ no explanation. If it was a dismissal, then I'm curious as to what prompted it.

It's fortunate that we'll be facing mediocre QBs. They won't be able to take much advantage of our poor play. It's not like they're awesome like Sanchez or anything.

Potter had 4 KOs + an onside kick (I'd contend that we'd have been better have Lindell attempt that, but this is beside the point). 3 touchbacks & one tackle inside the 20. I'm sure there were a few players active (read Joe B's assessments) that played less than 4 plays, let alone had as positive of an impact. Lindell is a proven, quality placekicker. Is he the best - no, but again, he has not shown anything that would indicate that he should be replaced for plackicking duties. His kickoffs are mediocre. Potter appears to have as good of a leg as anyone in the league. A few yards for initial field position isn't going to make much of a difference. However, every return yields the chance of significant improved position (we'll assume that the chances of a turnover & TD roughly offset). W/ improved position comes greater chance of scoring. For me, it's plainly obvious that it's worth a roster spot (& usually being active) for this advantage. As someone said above, your 6th WR or 8 DL are unlikely to provide as such added utility.

I read the article & appreciate it. What puzzles me though is that in addition to the +/- play count he tabulates, he also gives a letter grade and the grades don't directly correlate w/ the +/-. Wonder how he derived those or if they're just arbitrary.

IDK how much it comes into play, but the more angle you swing a club w/, the more flex the shaft exhibits. ie, if Fleherty was kneeling w/ Daly trying to hit the ball at roughly waist height, Flaherty would likely need facial reconstructive surgery now.

I believe the new rule ALLOWS them to wear something other than a bikini, but doesn't require them to. I believe previously, at least in AVP events, for "main court" events, players were REQUIRED to wear a "standard uniform", which was bikini top & bottom. (For other matches, I believe they were permitted to wear more.)

I think Dark Side of the Moon has endured better. Had you have asked me ~25 yrs ago, my opinion might've been different.

I thought these OTAs are supposed to be non-contact? To add insult to injury (literally), the NFLPA might take grievance for him violating the CBA.

Don't see that for Gilmore, any more than any other typical 1st round pick. As for Glenn, I wonder if perhaps the fact that there's debate as to what position he can/should play adds support for this argument. If he was a 4th or 5th rounder that could play G &/or T his versatility would be an asset. For an early 2nd rounder, you expect them to contribute soon & significantly. That requires zeroing in on a position. We're gonna try him at LT & there are some that don't think he's well suited for that. If indeed, they're correct, and it will likely take awhile to determine this, I could see how he might have a larger than normal chance to be categorized as a bust. Personally, I like both picks. They address needs & for where they were picked, they could even be considered "value" picks.

Depends on the setting, as it is vulgar, I wouldn't really consider it a "go to". But, it's short & funny & it's the one I think of 1st. (Usually told w/ an impression, I might add.) So the Judge says, "I'm sorry Mr Mouse, but the Court denies your request for divorce, as we find your wife, Minnie, to be mentally competent." To which Mickey responds, "Oh, no, your Honor. I was hoping someone else would've given you an answer by now, if nothing else, to get someone's assessment that is familiar w/ both (I don't play WoW). They're basically similar in that you create a character of a particular "class", develop specific powers & abilities, & acquire goods (armor, weapons, etc) that bestows you w/ (better) abilities. You then go about killing monsters, thereby gaining experience points (which allow you to "level up" to develop more ability & skills) & w/ the more stuff & more ability you have, you can kill more, stronger monsters, etc, ad nauseam. Diablo & diablo II are set up so that you go on "quests". Sadly, you don't rcv any experience points for achieving these quests, only killing monsters (it'd be nice if you were awarded for merely "evading" them), but for some of them, you do rcv "prizes". Diablo & Diablo II has the difference that unlike Wow, in additional to playing online w/ others, one can play offline, solo. IDK if Diablo III has this functionality or not. Again, not being a player of Wow, I can't speak for the inherent pluses & minuses of the 2 games, but IMO they are of the same genre & play similar (they're both developed by Blizzard, too).

Well, thru the 1st 4 rounds, we've selected players in positions where we've had holes to fill. Can't complain there. What's next? Maybe a QB. Other than that, it should be BPA.

Windoze 7 Home is what I have on my new PC. I wasn't able to get any versions of D-II to run except 1.13. IIRC, even after I installed it, Windoze indicated there would be problems, but best I can tell, it runs fine.

I had been anxiously waiting for it's release for sometime. In fact, was waiting to upgrade my PC cuz of it. Got a virus & decided to upgrade & w/ the new PC was forced to upgrade from D-II v 1.09 to 1.13. 1.13 plays sufficiently different (at least in Hell), that it significantly lessens the desire for D-III. Think I'll put it on my Xmas wish list.

It seems the important issue is not being addressed - Who won the award?

Kelly may have been more productive, but Namath was FAR more significant. His (HUGE) signing was a major coup for the AFL. (Now if the USFL succeeded, maybe we'd be talking a different tune.) He was the 1st QB to throw for 4000 yards. He was also the 1st real "superstar", at least in football. He may have only had a few really good years,but he was far bigger than Kelly or pretty much anyone since.
