Gotta say the graphics/SFX were really awesome. Incredibly impressive for a weekly tv show. As for the content, was rather disappointed it covered so little in an hr. Anxious to see if they're able to go more in depth in future episodes.

Throw in the fact that we play a few games in poor kicking conditions, those stats would seem to indicate Carpenter has a median KO leg. Not a weakness, but not a strength. Considering his stellar FG performance & our kicking is not a pressing need. Now, our punt & KO returns, & to a lesser extent, our coverage...

My take after some research on Byrd
eSJayDee replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is he better than anyone else we're likely gonna get to replace him? Yes. Do we have room under the cap, to pay him? Yes (unless we go on a crazy FA shopping spree). Do we have the ability to guarantee he stays here? At least for next year, Yes, for a Franchise Tag of about $10m, if necessary. Are we serious about making winning a priority? ????? That's the question. -
Have you tried to replace a tire w/ the equipment provided w/ a car? I haven't, but have serious doubts I'd be able to. (That's ignoring the fact that I'm not too comfortable w/ a car supported only by a flimsy scissors jack & w/o a jack stand). Wheel bolts installed w/ an impact wrench, w/o anti-seize compound that have been on for a yr or more are difficult to loosen w/ a 16" breaker bar, let alone those 8" wrenches typically supplied w/ the car. For that matter, most tire problems are slow, better to provide w/ a small compressor (& pressure gauge), so you can get the car somewhere it can be safely & easily repaired or replaced.

End Of Game Crazy Lateral Play Question #1
eSJayDee replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You obviously have to maintain a "std" formation, ie 7 men on the line, the outside 2 of which are eligible rcvrs, the interior 5 not. Presumably, you are able to "report as ineligible", making eligible #s ineligible, much like when you line an extra linemen up in an eligible position, & in fact if you're able to do this, obviously, you'd have to. (50-79 and 90-99 are ineligible #s; 1-49 & 80-89 are eligible. AFAIK, 0 & 00 (sorry Jim Otto) are no longer valid #s at all.) -
Actually, my assumption is that is incorrect. IIRC (it's been a few days since I read the article) FAA rcds indicate that he was a student pilot as of April '13. I cannot adequately convey how implausibly inept the aeromedical dept of the FAA is. I assume he was licensed sometime after that (possibly, shortly thereafter, again, I'd believe it could take >8 months for them to update their rcds). (Or possibly, the reporter has his facts wrong.) Student pilots are not permitted to carry passengers, so the Pilot In Command would need to be a fully licensed pilot.

Comprehensive Bills O line evaluation thread
eSJayDee replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What happened w/ Urbik? My understanding was that he was very solid/good last yr. Admittedly, I don't watch line play too intently, but I haven't seen anything (other than Marrone wanting to bench/push him) that makes me think he's sub-std. Not going to the probowl anytime soon, but IMO worlds above our play at LG. -
That one blitz that he just blew by McKinnie, it occurred to me that McKinnie is a foot taller & over twice Robey's wgt! Yes, one heck of a game for him today.

Who's the better back, right now? Freddy J or CJ Spiller?
eSJayDee replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it depends on your offense & what you ask of your RB. For us, (& I think most other offenses), FJ is the more complete back & therefore more valuable. WAY better at pass protection, WAY better of "wiggling for an extra yd or 2" and better at making one person (at least partially) miss for a few extra yds in the open field. If however, you have an otherwise VERY strong offense, the home run threat that CJ brings can't be discounted. FJ is at least & prolly more capable, of making 10 yd plays, but he doesn't have the ability to make LONG plays that CJ possesses. -
To clarify, he had 1/2 a foot, not leg. Kicking w/ 1/2 a leg would be REALLY impressive.

Blues Brothers Mall Car Scene - Lego Style
eSJayDee replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I vaguely remember a mall north of Albany (Saratoga? Wilton?) that I went to very rarely that had a Supermkt. This would've been mid-80s when I frequented it, having moved to the area in '83. -
Well, if you're at work and someone is prohibiting you from using another browser, then it seems like it's their problem, not yours. Let them diagnose it. If you can't bother them w/ your problem, then maybe you shouldn't be looking at porn at work.
-
One simple test, & not to be snide, but also a possible solution, is to use a different browser. This will (help) determine where the problem lies, ie w/ IE or if there's actually something wrong w/ the site.

WRT the phantom call on AWilliams, I can only hope/assume that they got the # wrong. He CLEARLY didn't even contact anyone, let alone illegally. I believe you can subscribe to the NFL All-22 thing, which should hopefully show who the actual perpetrator was.

I don't remember if it was last yr, or the yr before but I determined that "teams that suck" (which I think I defined as 5 wins or less), had a 31% chance of making the playoffs the following yr. I looked back a fews yrs, maybe 5 or so. That's not much worse than any team at random, ie parity works. In fact, if you remove the Bills from the results, you might get sufficiently close to the 38% that it isn't statistically relevant.

I like the idea of it. It's just speculating at its finest. It also is presumably a way of athletes to defer risk & capitalist on future earnings now. Didn't read the specifics, but my primary concern is how the duration of his career is handled. Do your shares only cover X # of yrs? You obviously have no say in when/if he quits/retires.

South Park misses deadline due to power outage
eSJayDee replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That much on the line, & they don't think a few thousand for UPSes (Uninterrupted Power Source) is a worthwhile precaution? -

[closed]Who'd we lose - to make room for Lewis?
eSJayDee posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jay Ross again? We swapped punters, so that's net zero roster wise. We promoted Lewis which means we need to cut someone, or IR. We've also got space on the Practice Squad now. If we still can, I like the idea of I-Ring Hopkins. -
Is Marcus Easley this teams version of Steve Tasker?
eSJayDee replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't ever recall Tasker returning KOs (Easley does, but he never gets a chance to actually return them). Tasker didn't return punts til late in his career & as I recall, didn't enjoy it. He wasn't a particularly good returner, but one thing he was EXCELLENT about was that he fielded EVERYTHING and reliably so punters seldom got the advantage of roll distance. -
The kicking game: Powell/Carpenter
eSJayDee replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that Carpenter has been top notch. Great 55 yd FG; only 1 miss. KOs have been good, too. ~50% TB & of those returned a good %age are stopped (well) b4 the 20. Hopkins was thought to be (among the) best kickers coming out this yr & I've seen nothing to dispel that. I feel it'd be a shame to give up on him, but then again, Carpenter has performed about as well as one can hope. Personally, ideally I'd like to keep Hopkins on the active roster & let them fight it out next yr in training camp (I assume Carpenter has a 1 yr deal, but one should be able to resign him; if not NBD, no worse off.) Failing that, IR Hopkins now while he still qualifies (you can't IR a healthy player & IDK if I'd like to risk getting him on Practice Squad) As for Powell, he's not good. Top notch leg strength, but his "touch" punting is sub-std. "Inside the 20", you should end up inside the 10 most times & inside the 5 some. Inside the 10 seems a rarity for him, seemingly occurring less than TBs. Being a young punter, I'm hoping he will develop those skills in time. As for his consistency, I don't really see that being an issue. No punter always booms it & never shanks it. His main deficiency is when he/we has an opportunity to pin a team close to their goal line, he seldom does it. -
Injuries. When will this team address this?
eSJayDee replied to offyourocker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing they can do that would have an immediate impact is stop running the hurry up. Assume they try to run plays 50% faster; that means both our offense & defense (& ST) will play about 25% more plays. All things being equal, that means 25% more injuries. (& arguably, since players are more fatigued, they're MORE prone to injury). Now, it stands to reason that your opponents are also getting injured at a 25% greater pace as well, but often injuries are a more than 1 game thing, so much of the equalizing benefit that this would cause is lost. -
Injuries from Jets game: status of players?
eSJayDee replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was playing later, so hopefully not too severe. We lack depth on the interior OL (in fact, by most opinions, we only have 2 capable starters).
