  1. The Bills don't get the pick of the litter when it comes to coaches. They get the leftovers. Too bad Schwartz isn't bringing Suh with him. Let's face it, the Bills are near the bottom of the food chain. The other coach also sounds unremarkable. Oh well, it's the curse of being a Bills fan.
  2. Double crap! He was the top coach on the staff by a mile!
  3. The Bills received more years of ineptitude and frustration. It is no coincidence that dysfunctional organizations find ways to mess it up. It all starts at the top. Incompetent owner hires incompetent people and then repeats the cycle every 2-5 years.
  4. It would be the most national exposure the Bills have received in 14 years. It also might motivate the players to step up their game if they know the cameras are watching. If anyone is familiar with the Hawthorne Effect they know that the process of being observed improves performance. The Bills could use improved performance.
  5. Excellent post. The only problem is the stats are irrelevant. A team is like a body. It's like saying that you have the greatest kidneys and liver in the league, but you have lung cancer also. Where does that leave you? The team is only as strong as its weakest links and the Bills still have several weak links, hence the 6-10 record. The stats don't tell the whole story and can be very misleading. Remember London Fletcher recording a large number of tackles for the Bills every year? The stats didn't tell you that many of them were after large gains by the offense.
  6. I love the optimistic view, but I severely question the faulty logic.
  7. IMHO, the Bills defense was not formidable. If you can't stop the run, your defense is fatally flawed.
  8. The Bills have been irrelevant for so long it is hard to remember when they mattered. The season is going just as I thought. This was a 6-10 team until proven otherwise. A rookie head coach with a rookie offensive coordinator and a marginal coaching staff taking over a team with a rookie QB. I still shake my head at the pre-season optimists who thought this was a playoff team. (for fun go read the posts proclaiming "this time is different") Marrone still hasn't shown me he is an NFL head coach. In fact, it is not even close at this point.
  9. They didn't get us, the Bills gave him away like old trash. Why does anyone still believe Marrone is capable to be a good head coach in the NFL? I've seen no evidence that he has any more clue than the last 5 Bills head coaches who all failed miserably.
  10. Da'Rick Rogers starting to produce for the Colts. Two touchdowns today. Will the Bills regret cutting him? Too bad the Bills traded Marshawn Lynch on that poor Seattle franchise. What were the Seahawks thinking? There's a reason the Bills stink and it's not just bad luck.
  11. My friends and family in Florida watched him play every game at Florida State. It was their unanimous opinion that he was the main reason holding the team back from being great. Now that he has left, Florida St. has achieved greatness. I don't know for sure, but I feel he might be one of those players who looks great on paper but never achieves it on the field. Does he have the intangibles and the natural instincts to be great? Based on what I have seen so far, the answer is no. (but it's still way too early to know)
  12. Wrong. An oxymoron is no consolation.
  13. Let's look at some numbers 2012 The Bills allowed 27.2 pts/gm and yielded 362.9 yds/gm (after 8 games they were 3-5) 2013 The Bills allowed 26.6 pts/gm and yielded 381.1 yds/gm (after 8 games they are 3-5) Where's the big improvement everyone is talking about? The Bills defense ranks 29th out of 32 teams at this point. Last year the Bills ranked 22nd. Maybe the stats don't tell the whole story, but they are not totally irrelevant.
  14. It was the NFL vs. the AFL. Both leagues could draft the same players and it was the players choice where they would sign. Warfield chose the Browns.
  15. Time will tell, but Manuel was taken with the 16th pick and Smith was taken with the 39th pick. Who got better value? If both players are equally successful in the NFL then the Jets got better value.
  16. I still can't believe a pro football team (NFL) would find itself in a position whereby they have to start an undrafted free agent at QB. Is this the beginning of the Doug Whaley era or the beginning of the end? The management at OBD defies belief. The names change, but the stink remains.
  17. Quarterbacks should not run. EJ Manuel showed poor judgment by taking that hit unnecessarily. The Browns QB put himself in an awkward position and the injury resulted. QB's with no common sense get hurt easier. Look at Payton Manning and Tom Brady as two QB's who know how to protect themselves.
  18. Speaking of the rookie coaching staff - to this date, I haven't seen anything from Marrone, either in tactics or strategy, that gives me great optimism for the future. So far he looks like more of the same mediocrity that has plagued the Bills for years. I'll reserve my final conclusions about him for now, but I'm not encouraged.
  19. I was disappointed in Manuel. He didn't seem to have the awareness of the situations he was in. He also didn't regulate the velocity of his throws very well. He threw some short passes way too hard and was very inaccurate on many others. He doesn't even seem to know that he can throw the ball away out of bounds rather than take a loss. I've been hoping for better things, but I don't see any improvement over last year's QB at this point. Tuel is not an NFL QB. Only the Bills would think so.
  20. If you're on the death chart, you're DOOMED!
  21. Is it Justin Rogers fault he's not good enough or is it the management and coaching staff who put him on the team? This is a problem with the talent level on the team. It is not an individual problem. The general manager is responsible for acquiring the talent. Clearly, everyone in the league knows that the Bills defense is weak and especially the defensive backfield. The general manager has put the team in this position by not getting NFL quality talent. Even with Gilmore the whole unit is weak. McKelvin is not top quality either. The Bills need to draft or acquire another starting quality cornerback. I don't blame Rogers for being inadequate, I blame the decision makers who put him in a position to fail when clearly he is not good enough. The front office is the goat here!
  22. Big mistake. Unless you think Colin Brown is just as good. If you saw yesterday's game the answer is obvious.
  23. They might suck, but they are 2-0. Until they start losing and somebody else surpasses them, you don't have much to say.
  24. If the Bills can keep Brady under 400 yards, then I'll be surprised. Loss.
  25. Good riddance! Can I show you the door Mr. Byrd?
