They were confident in Peterman starting because he had some of the best preseason numbers in the nfl and because they didn’t want to throw Allen to the wolves. Also Mccaron laid an egg. Not much choice beyond that.
This post could’ve been written prior to week 1
Could you imagine the performance Peterman would turn in this week? The Chargers would love to set a few more franchise records.
the delay in naming a starter makes me think the Bills are working the phones hard right now trying to find a serviceable QB/potentially someone to backup Allen.
if they give peterman the start, they just freed up my fall sundays.
we should wrap him in bubble wrap and put him on a shelf until we have an all-pro line and hall of fame WR corp. and then we'll have an unwrapping ceremony, and he can bloom into a super bowl QB. that's how you do these things.
we don't have the QB talent to have a WR like Benjamin. Cam would toss the ball up to him and let him make plays. I know he had a drop or two yesterday in the rain, but we don't put him in a position to make plays. He gets the ball when he's college open (which isn't often) and that's it.
what's most perplexing to me is what happened to the motion and the exotic schemes we saw/heard about in training camp? we came out and played the most vanilla offense possible, whilst jumping offsides to kill drives.
his response is a kid learning how to say the right things to the media. i think he thought if he said he was frustrated that he would be throwing peterman under the bus.
I said before the game yesterday that no other team in the NFL would ever start Peterman. It just wouldn't happen. Only the Bills. He needs to never take a snap here again. The entire league is laughing at us. We're a punchline. Start Allen for the rest of the year. You're not going to 'hurt his confidence' and we don't have the luxury to someday wait until our line is improved. That's how losing teams talk.
It was also way obvious yesterday that Murphy should be getting more touches. I realize that we're not using Shady correctly, but we have a good north-south runner in Murphy. Give him the opportunity to take the whole job. Seriously. McCoy's 30. He's not going to be playing at an all-pro level forever.
lastly, Edmunds comes as advertised. just making places all over the field. great pick!
yeah, just two fewer interceptions, actually scoring points and not going a whole half without a first down. Other than that, similar.
so, if we don't fix our lines next year? sit him again? when does he start in your mind? 2021?
