Watching the QBs play last night made me question where arm strength comes from. It's not like Josh Allen has huge arms, he actually looks tall and kind of slight. It's amazing watching how much faster it comes out of Allen's hands than NP's.
You left out a big detail: EJ started his first preseason game and played with the 1s. He had a starting online and wr corp. Allen’s throwing to four guys who arent making this team and is being protected by practice squad maybes.
This first preseason game of Peterman vs McCarron might be a push.
I agree. The ball looks like it has nothing on it. Slow, slow ball.
Meanwhile McCarons playing vs flag football D
Allen has looked pretty solid (from what I've read/seen) EXCEPT against the blitz. He seems to be trying to adjust to the speed and complexity of that right now. I don't see him doing great if CAR was blitzing him all half (which, preseason, so they won't).
I really don’t think that in the first 10 days of camp the coaches were even going to allow him to take reps away from Peterman. No matter how well he played.
If his next 7 years produce the same yards, he’s in the top ten all time for passing yards. It’s not mediocre. Brady had 26,364 over the same period. Which included an undefeated, 50TD season. Cams doing just fine.
this battle feels like the texans hoyer vs mallett in 2015. it was the hard knocks. you walked away thinking there are no clear winners, just hot hands.
i appreciate that Allen is an under center QB, but he hasn't seemed to handle the blitzes well. i'd rather he learns to adjust and make the quick play, over having to keep him in shotgun all of the time.
