Why would anyone want Daboll back? His overall offensive pedigree sucks. Yeah, he was instrumental in helping Josh in his early development but Josh outgrew him. He had a young Daniel Jones who looked like ass and now is playing like a top 10 qb without Daboll. That’s a strong condemnation of Daboll offensive prowess. IDK why everyone keeps floating this idea. This is besides the fact that even though McD puts on a professional front with him, it was clear as day he had some seriously strong negative feelings about Dabol. No way McD brings that back in the building. Same thing with this Mike McDaniels idea. Why would we want to bring a guy in who has shown he can’t adjust his offense that defenses caught up to a year and a half ago? Yeah he had a great offense tailored to Tua for a year, then it got figured out and it has sucked since. Maybe he’s hampered by Tua’s limitation and a crap offensive line but it doesn’t take a genius playcaller to run the ball more.

We are going to be at he quarter pole of the season after this weekend. Unless there is an injury, I don’t see any way McD brings in someone new to the system. We’ve all given Bishop the excuse that this defense is incredibly complex and takes 2 years to get comfortable in so how are we going to bring in a guy after 4 games and think he’s going to work out?

I’m curious if Schoen gets canned after Daboll inevitably does. I can see Schoen back in Buffalo, zero chance Dabs ends up back here.

Bo Nix is average at best. Herbert might actually start to reach his potential with Harbaugh as a coach. Chargers are a solid team, I hope they keep KC from the Division title. Indy looking ridiculous with Danny Dimes at QB but I think they come back to Earth as the season progresses. NE is a couple years away. I thought we’d see more from Drake MEH but it’s still early. The kid can make some plays. I love the fact that a Vrabel coached team turned the ball over 5 times. Hate that guy, hate that team. Stevenson is done, the guy puts Crisco on his gloves pre game. Diggs is just collecting a pay check, Mac Hollins doing Mac Hollins things. I still like that guy.

Gotta give Herbert credit, he dissected the Chargers defense on this final drive.

Denver is going to blow this. Bo Nix is so over rated. So is Hebert but he’s made some plays in the clutch.

Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?
RunTheBall replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
Watch the All-22 and see how much they rotated into Cover 2/3 looks in the second half. They ran a 3-3-5 in the first and we gashed them with the run game. They showed a lot of man at the snap and then rotated into 2 high shells. Marino/Cover 1/Sal all have > than 60% 2 high safety shells, sometimes 3. -
Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?
RunTheBall replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
Miami played Cover 2 or some sort of deep shell 60% of the time. There were definitely intermediate/deep routes called and Josh decided against a couple. On short yardage situations Miami played more man or run blitzes. I’d like to see Brady be a little more aggressive in those looks but it’s hard to argue when the O is putting up 30 points a game. I don’t think Josh is getting over cautious, I think he’s become much more cerebral and understands the game script. Yeah, fans want bombs away and to put a 50 burger up on every team. I think Josh felt we were in control of the Miami game and he didn’t need to take chances and risk the turnover. Against a better team like KC or the Ravens, I bet he’d pull the trigger more often on those deeper routes. That’s good football. We lead the league in explosive plays, they just aren’t the explosives fans want to see. We are ahead of the curve on offense. Multi TE sets, 6 O line with multiple TE all the way though to 5 wide. The number of personell packages we have is ridiculous and it’s working. I’ll worry about the deep stuff when we play a team that man’s up on us most of the game and we can’t get the ball downfield. Until then, enjoy the W’s people, style points don’t matter. -
Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?

Do you guys actually pay attention to what type of defensive alignment teams are using against us? It plays a huge part in the lack of a downfield passing game. Yes, I would like to see us improve in that area but if a team like Miami plays a defense that blankets the deep/intermediate routes (Hint : it’s called a 2 high shell or Cover 2) then the easy yards are underneath. Remember when Josh was called a turnover machine? That was when teams started using 2 high against us and he just kept chucking it deep with Dorsey/Gabe. Josh has evolved to take what the defense is giving. Now, when the opposing team lines up in man I’d love to see us take more shots downfield. The deep ball is Josh’s worst throw and it would be good to get him some practice before the playoffs. , -
I think it’s an acknowledgement that the defense we’ve had for the last few years isn’t getting it done in the playoffs. We are seeing more 4-3, more 5 man fronts, more DE’s rushing over guards. We will be playing a lot more man coverage once Hairston gets up to speed. This defense is going to look significantly different once the guys who are injured/suspended come back into the fold. I think we are seeing them experiment with multiple looks/fronts so we aren’t as predictable as we have been.

You guys who think the bobble was 50/50 need to go watch the replay. I saw it in real time and thought he bobbled it. The one replay they showed it was clear as day his one foot was in the air when he gained control, one foot in bounds, then the other foot that was up lands clearly out of bounds. I rewatched a few times, it’s not close. The reply coach in the booth is useless unless he saw it, called McD, and for whatever reason McD didn’t want to risk a challenge that early.

RunTheBall replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh I forgot to add - McD not challenging that obvious 3rd down bobble from Hill is coaching malpractice. Didn’t we hire a replay coach last year? Fire that guy. If he had challenged that 3rd down, Miami probably punts and that changes the entire demeanor of the game. -
The Cover 1 guys will tell us how great he is and we just don’t know how to watch film to see just how effective he really is. Like they did when they ball washed Edmunds for years. I’m not anti-Groot, but for a guy who’s best move is to set the edge he really blew it in the AFC Championship when he drove inside several times and Mahomes made him pay with a TD and number of first downs.

9/18/25 GAMEDAY Bills vs Dolphins Post Game Thread TNF
RunTheBall replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
A W is a W. I don’t care how it looks. I thought we should blow them out, figured we wouldn’t on a short week facing a desperate team. Our DT’s got blown up by a dollar store offensive line which was the main issue giving up so many 3rd down completions. Josh played exactly as he should have. Miami started off in a 3-3-5 and we blew the doors off them in the first half. They switched to a Cover 2 soft zone shell, that’s why Josh kept taking the short stuff, because it was the right read and it was there. Younger Josh would have forced those throws into coverage and gotten picked. So Josh plays efficient small ball and all he has to worry about is a bunch of TBD posters complaining about the lack of deep shots. Tre looked bad but no one can cover Waddle/Hill that long when there is no pass rush. Does Gregg Rousseau still play for this team? Talk about a disappearing act. Overall, a hard fought well earned W against a desperate division foe. Who cares how it looks. We are on to New Orleans -
Game week thread - Dolphins at Bills TNF

This Bills team is at peak maturity. This year and next are our best chances to reach and hopefully win the Super Bowl. Josh has reached another level with his mental understanding of the game. He’s reaching Brady levels of Zen. You don’t see Sugar High Josh anymore for more than a play or 2 in the beginning of the game. I don’t see them taking any team lightly even a dumpster fire like Miami. The only way Miami wins this game is if we have multiple turnovers. On D, they have a bunch of pass rushers trying to come back from season ending injuries. Our pass protection has been adequate but they can play a lot better. They have Dodson at LB so Shakir/Cook/Kincaid should absolutely feast on him. Their secondary is a dumpster fire. I’d come out and pass to set up the run but knowing Brady, we are going to come out and establish James first. I’d go all out run and shoot on these guys, let Josh cook. On offense, their offensive line is ASS, especially their right side. Bosa should have a field day. Maybe Rousseau will actually get a sack. I think McDaniel is going to spam Archane big time in the run and the pass. I suspect he’s going to try to run the ball a helluva lot more than he has in the last 2 games. I’d play the same style defense we did against the Jets. D-line slants one way or the other and keeps the LBs clean to make tackles. Take out Archane first, then Hilll, then Waddle who’s just collecting a pay check. They have no TE to worry about. This should be a double digit win. Our overall talent is better, our coaching is better, and Josh hates Miami so I expect another AFC Player of the Week. Fk Miami! -

The worst thing that could happen for Miami fans is to win this game. McDaniel and Grier are a complete dumpster fire and need to go. Squeaking out a win now would be like the once or twice during the drought we squeaked one out against Brady. Meaningless because that team is DONE. I think it’s another cake walk, this one more through the air. Their DBs are ass, they’ve got gimpy pass rushers, Dodson is their starting LB. Only chance they have is if Josh has a multiple turnover game and he’s way past that I think. -
9/14/25 Week 2 GAMEDAY Bills @Jets post game Thread
RunTheBall replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great, dominant win which is what was expected except from the bunch of posters who suffer from anxiety. So, let’s just get the following out of the way now about Miami - 1) Yes, we will take them seriously 2) Yes, they are a desperate team 3) No, it’s not a trap game 4) Yes, we will crush them at home We are on to Miami- 281 replies

Davis needs to start running north and south again if he wants to get on the field. The few touches he had against the Ravens were ass. Had a bit of the happy feet like James had early in his career. He’s young he’ll learn.

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
RunTheBall replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
The guy had 8 receptions for over a hundred yards and a TD and you are whining because he didn’t do it the way you wanted him to do it??? Holy hell. WHO CARES. The kid had a great game, he caught a tipped pass with his awful hands. I’ll never understand posters who try so hard to find a negative in a good performance.- 736 replies

Well, we are 1-0 and there are plenty of teams that are 0-1. So despite your superior analytics, I’d say we at least have a better defense then that Ravens because, you know… we won the game.
-
I tend to agree with your overall summary of the McD defense, although to call them the worst in the league is a bit of hyperbole. We won’t see what this defense can do until Hoecht and Okinjobi come back. The defense will improve. We have too many talented guys who looked like ass against the Ravens. Milano sucked. Bernard sucked. Rapp sucked. Bishop was meh. I fully expect improvement especially from the LBs. They looked like a team that hadn’t had a lot of pre season reps. First game is a liar. If we don’t turn the ball over against the Jets we win easily.

Ed Oliver in walking boot..per Matt Parrino
RunTheBall replied to Watching since 1964's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think his horse Panty Snatcher stomped on his foot and McD is just covering for him If he got stepped on to that degree during practice they would have held him out. He wasn’t noticed to be limping after practice although IDK the access non Bills employees had and Bills are very tight lipped. Whatever the cause, just another chapter where Ed has a big game then disappears for one reason or another for weeks at a time. Just keep him off the field until he’s 100%. -
People, it’s the Jets. THE JETS. They are still gonna Jet. The only reason the Jets have won or played us tight in the past is because Josh sucked in those games. He’s past that. He’s entering that Brady level of Zen. He’s going to carve up the Jet’s D. Milano and Bernard could not play worse than they did against the Ravens. I expect them to start to return to form after that embarrassing performance. Here we go with Ed again. Didn’t he do this 2 years ago? Tweaked his ankle in the first game then was MEH the rest of the year but we gave him the ankle excuse? Enough. Keep him off the field until he’s 100% even if that means the bye week. Load up against the run, double Wilson, make Fields throw and keep him contained. Winning.
