How Has Orton Looked Since He Was Signed?
Peter replied to Prickly Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doors shirt! How can you not like a Doors fan. No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn. -
EJ always pointing the finger... not what you think.

Hey Marrone - Start Bryce Brown!
Peter replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was listening to Howard and Jeremy while I was stuck in traffic here in Miami Tuesday morning. Jeremy said RBs are the least criticized players in the NFL . I laughed out loud hearing that given the people on this board that have their almost daily CRUSADES against CJ. This thread is yet another example of that. As an aside, I often wonder about what the standard is for closing down threads. I am not one of those thread nazis who pop here reminding people that such and such subject is being discussed elsewhere and that they should use their search function. It does seem, however, that the mods have no problem with myriad threads critical of certain players -- CJ being one of them. As for Bryce Brown, do a little research on his background and ask yourself whether he is the same caliber of teammate as CJ and Fred. If he ever makes into a game as Buffalo Bill, I will root for him. I hope he has had a character transplant. -
Not good. Well, at least the Lions defensive line is not very good . . . oh wait, never mind.

Keep believing that if it makes you feel better. -
Unless something drastic happens, I feel sorry for whoever is the QB (Orton) against the Lions. I think they are going to crush the interior of our line - especially in Detroit. Marrone may have been doing EJ a favor. If we can figure out how to at least be average against Suh et al, we have a chance. If not, it is going to be another unproductive day for the offense.

Remember folks, our resident TBN football media genius Sully wanted to cut him not too long ago.

Marrone-"I didn't ask for agreement [when he told Whaley]"

I believe that rumor/spin began with the Buffalo media - not with Florio. -

You are clearly right. Our guards are great and CJ did not have a high ankle sprain last year. -
Doug Whaley On The Drafting Of EJ Manuel
Peter replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I also hope that the EJ story has not been fully written and that this is an opportunity for EJ to develop under Orton as I presume the original plan was when the Bills signed Kolb. I also love having Sammy on the team. Nevertheless, we certainly gave up a premium to get him when you compare what the Dolphins gave up to move up more spots just the year before. We overpaid. Farmer simply out negotiated Whaley. Nevertheless, just as with EJ, I think that Whaley deserves more time to see what he can do. -
Nice post. He Nice post. He is a good kid. Great parents. I hope everyone (EJ, team, fans) treat this as part of his development.

The impact of the failure to call that obvious penalty cannot be overstated. If it had been called, we probably would be having a different conversation today. If the Bills managed to score, EJ's career and the Bills year could be drastically different. Call me bitter, but if Tom Brady had thrown that ball against the Bills, we all know the flag would have been thrown.

2015 2nd round (or later) QB prospects
Peter replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suppose I am. Seantrel actually is a good kid who basically did not hurt anyone but himself (smoking pot, which I do not care about). Winston on the other hand . . . . -

I would hate for the Bills to draft that guy. -
Am I the only one who still believes in EJ?
Peter replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am probably swimming upstream on this board on this, but I hope we use this time to try to develop EJ rather than close the book on him -- as presumably the original plan was last year with Kolb. EJ certainly is not a finished product. We have A LOT invested in him. Jumping from the FSU offense (where he only had to read half the field and a disparity in talent much of the time) or any college offense to the NFL is quit a leap. Playing QB in the NFL is probably the most difficult job in sports. I am not saying that the switch is a bad move for now - time will tell. I just hope that they treat it internally as an opportunity for EJ to develop without the weight of the team on his shoulders. EJ is a good kid with both raw and partially developed talent. There are very, very few who can make the leap to an NFL QB quickly. This might end up being a positive for EJ. I hope EJ and the team treat it as such. Just my two cents. -
Pessimism thread on TBD? Isn't that redundant?

What is your Buffalo Bills sickness??
Peter replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TorontoBillsaphobia and LABillsaphobia On September 9th, I began to feel better and the doctor told me that it looks like my condition will be completely cured on October 8th. -
Anyone else tired of hearing about Derek jeter?
Peter replied to major's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No - for all of the reasons others have mentioned. -
Interesting. EJ is a young QB. He is a work in progress and not a finished product. While there is room for improvement, I do agree that he appears to be headed in the right direction. If we can get better protection up the middle in particular, that should help EJ both in time and space as well as his development. As frustrating as it may be to some, we really have to give EJ some time to see his development.

You have to give the guy a lot of credit -- especially given that Liberty was his only offer (as I recall) before UB recruited him.
-
It would have been great if it had worked out that way - both for us as well as Fitz' son. It is too bad that he would not adjust his contract to assume that role.

All 32 NFL teams graded on their five-year potential
Peter replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, we know one thing: Bucky and Sully did not contribute to this article. I am generally optimistic about the future of the Bills as well as the future of the Bills in the AFC East. I am starting to get rid of the depression I have felt from the Chargers game. -
I probably could go on and on with lyrics that I like, but I always thought these were appropriate for Buffalo Sports fans. These lyrics describe how I typically feel after something horrible happens with the Bills after I start to get excited (after Super Bowls, winning streaks followed by games that bring me back to earth): When my fist clenches, crack it open Before I use it and lose my cool When I smile, tell me some bad news Before I laugh and act like a fool These lyrics describe the luck of a Buffalo sports fan (I hope this changes with Conner McDavid or Jack Eichel): Born under a bad sign. I've been down since I began to crawl. If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck. If it wasn't for real bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all. These are lyrics from a song that the Bills should play at every home game when the Bills come out of the tunnel: We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow. The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming! This is from my favorite song. It always puts me in a good mood. Now that the Pegulas are going to own the team, the weight is off our shoulders, the bad luck will be behind us, and the sun is coming out: Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right Here comes the sun, here comes the sun It's all right, it's all right
