  1. I think "a lot of bad snaps" is a cool guy's way of saying "a lot of bad plays"...
  2. I don't believe that this is part of the services they are offering...
  3. You would think baseball is seasonal too, but I'm on an 11 month contract... I have spoken to my buddy (the former VT player) about the idea and he thinks it is great. I'm going to look into insurance costs, etc. next.
  4. To clarify, my connection is not actually RandaLL - it is a guy who plays arena league with him
  5. So, my soon to be 10 year old son takes private baseball lessons and plays on a travel team through a local Baseball Academy. The place is absolutely bonkers with at least 2 teams per age group 9-18, clinics, camps, private lessons (all former college and pro players) - to the tune that they are opening a second location. Recently on their website, they boasted to giving 600 lessons to over 200 players - IN ONE WEEK. They are hosting a showcase event for the older kids with college and pro scouts. So here's my thought - I'm in an area that I would argue is even crazier about football. I have access to former college/pro players (a good friend played at Va Tech and in the arena circuit and has all the guys that could help out). I think I could make a ton of money doing private lessons for QB, OL, DL, LB, Kickers, Speed, etc. It could start small - doing lessons at public parks, open fields, etc. Not a lot of overhead until you build a client base and then maybe rent some cheap warehouse space and lay some turf. I'm obviously not going to start printing flyers tomorrow, as to not rush into it. I'm looking for feedback as to whether this would be something that you have any experience with, would be intrigued by, think is stupid, etc. Would you or your son be hooked by "being able to take QB lessons from former VT QB Brian Randle"?????
  6. I have an autographed stick from one of the players - Eric Strobel. He played for Rochester after the Olympics and my Dad was the Amerks bus driver for many years. Do you think that the stick is worth anything? FTR - I belieive it is personalized - in my attic, I'd have to check.
  7. Come on. Like every single one of us hasn't done this?
  8. Pooj - I'll send you some White House Rolls and you can do ham and london broil "biscuits"....
  9. When did VT join an arena league? Holy crap are those things hideous....
  10. I never met him, nor really even chatted with him online. I always liked his posts and he seemed like a fun guy. The one concerning thing was in one discussion he mentioned that he drank heavily every weekend - to the point of being passed out drunk. Not trying to air any dirty laundry, but I know he had some young kids, etc. and just wanted to know if anyone has heard from him.
  11. My 9 year old son won't leave the house without his Phiten necklace thing on. He plays travel baseball and the majority of the kids on our team and others wear them. In his case, it is strictly for decoration and looking cool...
  12. The only other thing that I can think that she is doing is taking a Weekly/Monthly Draw that would not show on the P&L. When doing this, she would actually debit a balance sheet account (Equity) and credit cash. Additionally, I'd ask to see the balance sheet and specfically look at Retained Earnings and Owner's Equity. If either one has a debit balance - RUN. You will need some type of accounting firm/CPA to help with your business - run it by them - I know many would look at the books for free for you if they felt that you had the idea of using their firm when/if you buy the business. They would want to see financials and bank recons.
  13. Paul - I'm also re-financing with Capcenter (will be my 4th time or so) and close next Friday. Here is a simple way to think about it. Assuming round numbers for purposes of this discussion: old loan: $1000/mo. x 268 months remaining = 268,000 new loan: $650/mo. x 360 months of new loan = 234,000 To me this is a no brainer... My situation was different. I was making good money, refinanced to a 20 year note in 2008. Late in the year, I lost my job and then in early 2009 refinanced back to a 30 to decrease my payment amount. Now, I'm refinancing again, reducing my rate by over half a percent and cutting 9 years off my mortgage. thereby increasing the principle I'm paying each month. I'm taking a little cash out to boot, but my payment is only going up like $200 per month. Good luck - let me know when you want to go out for a beer...Jim
  14. Just finished my appetizer - 2 slices of beefsteak tomato with some fresh mozzarella topped with balsamic, cracked black pepper and fresh basil. For the main course, some grilled teriyaki (sp?) marinated chicken boobs with steamed broccoli and corn cut off the cob. What say you?
  15. To each, his own. Seriously, I've done both. I do agree your method is easier, but to say "tastes better" as you did above...that is where I called you out.
  16. PTR - seriously store bought prepared food tastes better than food made at a tailgate? I guess you've never been to a good tailgate then.....
  17. It is a 3.3 v-6. He told me that even after he cleaned the throttle body it was still stalling frequently. It wasn't until after he moved around the Relays around that it stopped stalling at idle (except for the 30 minute waiting period).
  18. I don't always buy gas at the same place.... I understand what you are saying, but I'm not sure if your point leads me to another course of action???
  19. So after having the car all day, my mechanic called around to some people he knew. He told them that he cleaned the throttle body, tested a different IAC valve a new crank position sensor, etc. One guy that he knew that used to work at a Dodge dealership told him to move some of the Relays around (he told him specifically which ones, I'm not sure). So, he did this, drove the care home and experienced no stalling. He said he let it run at his house last night and it stalled after about 30 minutes. He drove the car back to the shop this a.m., again no stalling, left it run at the shop and again, stalled out after about 30 minutes. So the point is - I would never be at a stop long enough for it to stall. He told me to drive it for a few days let him know how its going and the we'll re-evaluate. So far, so good, knock on wood. Thanks for all that replied. Again - I'm not mechanically inclined in the least, but I did pass on many of the suggestions that you guys gave to my mechanic...Jim
  20. I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan that has been stalling at idle. The car drives normal, but when I come to a stop, the RPM's jump and then the care stalls. It will start back up immediately. My mechanic has the vehicle and says that no codes are coming up (I'm not a car expert at all). He has tried a crank position sensor and and idle air control valve to no avail. He says that he is going to see if he can borrow a used computer and see if that works, but he isn't sure that it will. He said next step would be to take it to a dealer - which I pretty much refuse to do unless I'm desparate. So - any thoughts?
  21. Mad Cap - I am in Richmond and have a great AC guy. In a strange coincidence, I just learned yesterday the my capacitor went bad. I turned the unit off immediately, called my guy and he was at my house at 9:30 today. He said by shutting off the unit, I saved the fan (sorry for your bad luck). He fixed it for me in about 1 hour (had to go get the part) and is now at my Dad's house drinking coffee. PM me if you want his info. Sorry that I couldn't give you any real advice about the mechanical aspect, but I do know who to call if something breaks
  22. I've watched Eyes Wide Shut about 3 times now and that is one movie that I still don't get. I'm not a dumb guy, but that movie just bewilders the hell out of me...
  23. There is a steak house on Glenwood called Sullivans. Even if you don't go for dinner (awesome quality steakhouse, quite an expensive place - think Morton's, Ruth's Chris, etc.) go have a cocktail at the bar for some phenomenal people watching. They have a drink called a knockout - basically they let pineapple marinate in vodka for a week and then serve it ice cold in a martini glass. You'll think its nothing, but drink three and then stand up to go to the restroom and you'll be wobbly.
