  1. Hey guys, I'm sure this has been covered before, but I don't think I've seen it recently: Need a new (to me) vehicle. Was really hoping to wait until my other vehicle was paid off (about 20 months). Really would like to keep my payment as low as possible, therefore was thinking either going used or leasing as I always see "incredible" deals in the Sunday newspaper. Discuss.... Looked at Toyota RAV4's but thinking that will be out of my league price-wise. Also interested in the Nissan Rogue and Hyundai Tucson. Discuss.... Thanks in advance! RB
  2. A few years back, golfsmith.com had a glitch in their system where they were giving people $50 off any order of $50.01 or more. My buddy texted me and I put in like 3 different orders.....got some shoes, a hybrid, some high-end balls, etc. My total out of pocket was $8. I told a bunch of friends and believe I even posted it on here....they eventually stopped fulfilling these orders, but everyone I knew got everything they ordered!
  3. Netfilx streaming is very good. My boys and I would watch multiple episodes of King of the Hill (seen some as many as 5 or 6 times). Went to flip on KOTH as my boys call it on Monday night and it was GONE!!!! My youngest son actually started crying...
  4. Kelly's nephew used to play HS ball here. I knew Jim was in town for some celebrity golf tourney, so me and my Dad decided to go to this HS FB game on Friday night taking a chance that he may be there. Sure enough he was. The team came out at half time and me and my Dad had worked our way over to near the sidelines standing on the track and Jim noticed my Bills hat. My old man says "hey Jim, big Bills fans, we're from Buffalo". Kelly says "I'm sorry to hear that" and kept walking....DB Then about a year later, I was in the Richmond airport (ironically going to Rochester for a business trip). I walk up to the US Air counter and Kelly is standing there talking to the agent. I happened to have a Bills Golf shirt on and he said "nice shirt"....I said "thanks Jim".
  5. A couple of funny details about mine: was absoltely humiliated when the hot nurse had to "clean me up" (where I had missed some trimming) in the very cold operating room before the procedure during the procedure, I was pretty wide awake (but feeling no pain). the doctor and i were talking about golf the whole time and he interrupts the conversation and says "hang on - I just want to warn you that you are going to see a puff of smoke and I don't want you to be alarmed" Had mine done on a Thursday. Rented a bunch of movies, watched a bunch of TV while icing...went out of the house on Sunday to run some errands, back to normal by mid-week. Did play golf the following Saturday (9 days post-op)...was probably about a week too soon....
  6. I don't even own white socks. If I'm wearing "athletic" shoes, I wear nike black no-show socks. I will wear athletic shoes with jeans and aforementioned socks. However, for work when I wear jeans, I wear brown Bass lace up shoes (almost have a boot look, but low cut) with dark socks.
  7. Just last week I experienced a 3 hour delay on AirTran flying from Richmond to ATL (mechanical). Not a huge deal, had to move some meetings around, etc. Well, about 2 days later received an e-mail with a voucher for a free roundtrip ticket anywhere to be used within a year. I showed my step mother, who is a travel agent, the e-mail and she said that is UNHEARD of these days. AirTran rocks!
  8. Try Aquaphor....works like magic
  9. "Get off of me you pig" Seriously though: grrrrrr - I have a friend that I talk to and whenever he describes something that frustrates him he uses "grrrr" at the end of the sentence Winning - taken from Charlie Sheen I'll second the "meh" and the "#"....annoys me to no end.
  10. Best one in a while...
  11. Has Barry Brady (aka VRAMYVEL, etc.) turned into someone else? I know that he changed his name often. What about Ray Finkle? Dude always made me laugh. Also - haven't been on here quite as much, but Lana seems to be posting less? Also the guy that was the firefighter in one of the Buffalo 'burbs (think he was married to a girl that was part of the Chivetta's making family).
  12. I'm a big fan of C.K. and Gaffigan. I'd add Nic Swardson to the list as someone who makes me laugh out loud.
  13. For several years I have been Portuguese Sausages. I'm thinking about changing to Sharty Pants this year though...
  14. Back in February my '03 Ford Escape (145k miles) needed some repairs - all total about $1k. I really, really wanted to get another couple of years out of it. I test drove some vehicles - new and used, but just couldn't stomach another $300 a month payment. So - I got it fixed and never looked back. At this point I'm ahead of the game because I'd be at about $1000 worth of payments right now with 57 more to go. Escape is running fine (knock on wood) and even if I can get through to the end of the year I'm better off. 2-3 years would be gravy....
  15. I always wanted to open a restaurant and put the "Rodney King Special" on the menu - A club sandwich with a side of beets....
  16. Nick Swardson and Louis CK are must sees... You can also stream CK's show Louie on Netflix. Some episodes are a bit "dark", but it is a great show...
  17. Looks like she has a bad case of chin nuts...
  18. Going to the Sabres/Panthers game in the FLA!!!!!
  19. Is that DC for District of Columbia or "D!ck Choker" Tom?

  21. My one and only job that involved sales was absolutely brutal. Background - I had worked as an area controller/accounting manager for a large company in the area for 8+ and they shut the doors - not the same company as Pooj (Circuit City), but this was in the same time frame. In my previous role I worked hard, but had a ton of autonomy, boss was in FL, had my own office, etc. Well, I get laid off so I go to a local big name staffing company. I was totally looking for their assistance in finding me something, full time, contractor, etc. So I'm going through the routine and I met with a large number of people from their company. So after about 2 hours, the original guy that I met with comes in and says "how would you like to come work for us? your personality is great and i think you'd do great". I honestly had always wanted to get into sales and I agreed that I'd be a fit. Also, this is the very next day after getting laid off and knowing that there was going to be a flood of supply due to my company and CC closing the doors - I had to take it right? So we went through the negotiations and I took the job. I was selling senior level accounting and finance "temps" - staff accountant to CFO. Well wow. There are so many things that were working against me. The ONLY good part about the job was that they gave me a $60k base with a 9 month rampup to less base/more commission (or I could change over any time i wanted if i was successful). All of the negative stuff. I'm 4th person on a 4 person team - I was warned very early - don't call on any of these companies (given a list of basically all of the major employers in Richmond). I started the week of Thanksgiving - the slowest time in staffing is between Thanksgiving and New Years. The call quotas were absolutely ridiculous - I had to have 125 "connects" per week - this means I had to actually speak to 125 people - realize this required making about 800 calls because of voicemail, hangups, etc. I also had to get 10 "site visits" per week - so I had to have 10 people agree to let me come out and talk to them per week. For the record in my time there, I never hit any of those previous goals. Other negative things - we had to do all kinds of meetings, conference calls and role playing scenarios - on top of the 800 phone calls that needed to be made. If you walked in the office after 7:30 or left before 6:30 it was BAD NEWS. Oh and I almost forgot - I was in a cubicle not more than 3 feet from my boss who would listen to and critque every single call. Oh yeah and it was a suit every day - regardless if you were meeting a client or not. Long story even longer, after about 2 months I was desperate for another job. Anything. I would get home from work and immediately apply to about 15-20 jobs. The job market sucked (both as a candidate and as a staffing person). All total I lasted just over 3 months. My bosses boss scheduled a meeting to come in to town to review my Professional Development Plan - part of which I would have to do a ton of work researching, etc. I didn't do it. I had an intuition of what the meeting was really about - and I was right. Me and 2 others were canned that day. In all - during the 3 months on the team - not one job order was filled by anyone on my team. Oh and of the 17 people at the office when I started, only 7 were left after my wave of being canned. Never, ever, ever, ever would I wish that job on my worst enemy.......
  22. I have gone for 2 different injuries. The first was a pinched nerve between my neck and shoulder. It took a few visits to fix. The next injury, I was bending over to pick up a baseball and I felt something pop in my lower back. I literally couldn't stand up straight. It was night time and I was in agony all night. Couldn't sleep, sent my boss a note saying that I wouldn't be in to work the next day. Woke up, went to Chiro as soon as it opened. It was IMMEDIATE relief. So much so that I went home, showered and went to work so I didn't have to burn a day.
