Bob Weir Cancels Tour Dates - Health Related
34-78-83 replied to #41's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bobby has looked tired for a few years now, atleast from the times I've seen him. He was always very conscious of being in good health, so I wonder what it might be specifically? -
I feel bad for season ticket holders.

Why was Simons Tuesday post locked?
34-78-83 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I imagine he locked it himself because he was the one moderating the thread and keeping out the riff raff... -
If it was a counter then all bets are off... I didn't see any counter type action and that would be unusual for a FB to do, but I haven't watched the game a second time yet and I'm not sure if I will or not. :-)

That hold on the FB dive play was laughable It's really just not physically possible to hold in that short flash of time on a dive play that nets 2 yards.
-
That's a good point Tuesday re: the short yardage situations. It almost seems at times like they are too worried about selling the idea or possibility that this next play MAY not be a run. I long to be able to compare our line in this situation to a line that impressed me back in the eighties. The Patriots, yes the Patriots, way back when Craig James was the feature back. They would walk proudly up to the line of scrimmage in 3rd and 1-3, and basically tell you "Ok, we are going to run right here between left Guard and Tackle, and you're simply NOT going to stop us". There was NO threat of a pass play, just sheer will and they fired off the ball as one unit.

Skins lost to the Raiders, but did beat the Broncos under Gibbs...

Good read Simon. The big picture perspective you give is much appreciated here and you probably already know that I am in agreement with most of your thoughts you listed on the individual players such as Reed and Wire, Teague, Bledsoe and others. Regarding Reed specifically, it's really been tough to witness his early season production for 2 years running now. Every year I go to camp and watch him snag everything within 5 feet from all angles and I believe he is going to step forward, but you're right he just seems to have this mental hurdle that doesn't even need to be there. I can't figure out if he reads too much press, is just nervous in the fishbowl that is the NFL, or what... Aiken's time draws near and I believe he is ready for the challenge. Evans has shown enough progress even at this stage to warrant that he reman in at #2. He gets more separation than Price did already, and I think he's a more disciplined player as well. Henry really needs to begin to take his overall role on the team more seriously and get his arse in the filmroom more often. He is such a hardnosed, bruising , present runner that it's a shame he can't also channell his intensity toward his assignments. Honestly it's nice to just hang out in this thread and get away for a while from the damage control mode that I seem put myself into time after time around here with some of the more extreme absurdities .

I believe you need a visit from the dead horse beaters club, yup

A Quick Word About Jonas Jennings
34-78-83 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is this "you know who you are" crap?. I mean seriously. As if to imply that you somehow have proven yourself to be correct on your OPINION? Jennings is an above average tackle who plays equally solid run blocking and pass blocking. He has a tendency to get hurt atleast once every season. These things are well known by most people, expert or not. -
Interesting note on the Bills' defense...

I believe they reported having 9 pressures off of those blitzes, but unfortunately mr. Brady is impoosible to rattle -
I made a $100 bet with someone on here

Not me but I did have a 10$ bet with Rico that he is probably liking his chances on right now. -
Teague out for 4-5 weeks
34-78-83 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Figures ... That's the last thing we need. -
Agreed and I certainly hope that atleast half of everything that the offense is working on during the week involves working against the blitz.

PFW - Losman May Be Playing Very Soon
34-78-83 replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As stated by others, I don't believe the Bills feel nearly as down on DB as some of you fans do. Nonetheless, I'm excited for his speedy recovery. He appears to have a good deal of fortitude which is a good thing for our (hopefully) future qb to possess. I hope to see him as a change of pace option if needed later in the season. -
I honestly don't see a problem with the way Resse has been playing. It's the other safety that has been a problem (until Milloy returns)

I think it would be unfair to lump such a broad ranging group simply based on post numbers into one convenient package, whether high posts or low posts. The ignore feature is your friend.

offensive line looked good against NE in 1st half
34-78-83 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats did blitz on a few occasions in the first half. The early success of our WR's in one on one matchups probably kept them out of doing a few more of them. Re: the question about 10 points- That's a tough question. I see it as a combination of missed assignments, misreads by both QB and WR, untimely false starts and a phantom hold, dropped passes, a high pass or two, and a questionable call or two. -
Alsaka I agree once again. Do you know just how nearly impossible it is to hold on a 1/2 second FB dive play? Especially when the FB goes down after 2 yards? That call was obseen.
-
Great points Alaska. You saw the game much the same way I did. I agreed with all points emphatically but two (strongly disagree with the Moulds and Jennings points). Well stated indeed

Alright, Let's Hear Some Viable Options

Oh, and mandatory extra film study sessions for TH...Every Day. -
I must agree. I thought for sure Josh would step it up this year, and all he's done is drop passes just like the beginning of last year. He is not a pressure player ( based on his dazzling performances in training camp ONLY)

-I immediately put Wire on more notch down on the depth chart. Move Baker up based on more speed, potential and playing his natural position (until Milloy returns). - Josh Reed's spot has already been taken by Evans, but I move him down one notch further and move up Sam Aiken to the #3 spot as the "posession" WR. -
If the LOLB was indeed coming on that play as you say, then yes it would have been blown up anyway. It may have been a bad call considering Jennings and Teague were out alrerady, and maybe they should have just told Henry they were going to run the scissors play between guard and tackle again
-
The Pat LB is allowed to come in on that play, due to a pulling guard. On the actual run play that the bootleg was based off of (which worked all day long), the Pats LB was attacking the HB (Henry) and leaving the QB free. The problem that happened was that Henry ran the fake to the wrong side like an idiot, which busted the play before it got started.
